This idea started out as, believe it or not, an attempt at combining Sol Ring with Moxen, Mox Opal in particular. Obviously that idea could only go in good directions, so I switched over to the idea of mana rocks that could double as Equipment. I quickly found that such a design concept really wanted to simply be a cycle of Equipment that grants mana producing abilities to the Equipped creature. And yes, I'm aware these are strictly worse than Paradise Mantle. The Mantle was honestly probably too good anyway, and belongs at uncommon if not rare. These could easily be done as a common cycle.

MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.
It looks fine in a vacuum. But would you want to spend five card slots in a set on conditional mana sources like this? Part of why Paradise Mantle works as a design is that it is just one card.

Maybe for the same reason the Dragon's Maze designer/developer decided to burn up 10 slots (out of 156 for a small set) for the guild cluestones. So much space spent for flavor & that silly puzzle... but I digress. I think if you're going to allocate all that space, do so like with the keyrunes to make the cards distinct.
That's exactly my point though. The cluestones work by themselves. You do not need to cast another card before you can use them. These cards can not be used reliably to accelerate or colorfix unless you have a lot of low cost creatures in your deck.
It's a nice idea for a cycle, and I think they would be fine as uncommons. Could they give a small bonus to the creatures as well? +0/+1 maybe? Or protection from the color they produce?
An equip cost of 0 would be too strong because it would make them each a single color Cryptolith Rite. However a mana cost of 0 would be fine, they are still strictly worse Paradise Mantles but they aren't significantly worse.
Would T abilities on Equipment be too complicated/fiddly? Just trying to think of ways to improve without having to increase the costs, and crossing with Mana Cylix came to mind.
