Mother Duck2GG
Creature - Duck
Other duck creatures you control get +0/+1
When Mother Duck enters the battlefield, put three 0/0 duck tokens named duckling on to the battlefield.
Whenever a non-duck creature enters the battlefield, Mother Duck fights that creature.
1/1
Rage FormRRR
Enchantment
Whenever a source an opponent controls deals damage to you, add X to your mana pool, where X is the amount of damage dealt.
When this mana empties from your mana pool, Rage form does Y damage to you, where Y is the amount of mana emptied this way.
Ludevic, Burgeoning Scientist2UU
Legendary Creature - Human Wizard
When Ludevic, Burgeoning Scientist enters the battlefield, put a 0/1 white human creature tokens on to the battlefield.
At the beginning of your upkeep sacrifice another non-human creature you control. If you don't, sacrifice a human creature you control.
Whenever you sacrifice a creature, draw a card.
3/4 "My lovely daughter, you are all I have left. You, and science."
Rogan the RepentantRW
Legendary Creature - Human Warrior
Defender, First Strike
At the beginning of your upkeep, reveal the top card of your library. If it isn't an angel card, put it on the bottom of your library.
Whenever an Angel enters the battlefield under your control it deals damage equal to its power to Rogan.
4/2 "Can I be forgiven?"
Lost ManR
Creature - Human
Lost Man must attack each turn if able.
At the beginning of your upkeep, search your library for a card named "Happiness". Then shuffle your library.
2/1 He lost his family, his home, and finally himself.
Eager RecruitsRB
Creature - Human Warrior
Whenever a creature dealt damage by Eager Recruits this turn dies, transform it. Let's get 'em boys!
3/3
/// Cowardly Veteran
Creature - Human Warrior
Cowardly Veteran will not attack or block.
4/4
Note: The idea here is that he is remorseful for what he's done. He is not a coward, as indicated by his typeline. He's still a true warrior inside, but everyone sees him as a coward. Also, he's the only one left out of his initial group. some of this might be a little too subtle, maybe. I'm also concerned the rules text might be too much of a bend as well.
Crippled SoldierRW
Creature - Human Soldier
Haste, Vigilance, Double Strike
Crippled Soldier enters the battlefield tapped and doesn't untap during your untap step.
3/1 This is my home too. I want to help. I want to fight!
Notes: So this guy has a lot of abilities, a lot of potential. But he needs external help to get into the action.

4/2 "Can I be forgiven?"
Rogan - I'll give you that this is flavorful, but in the end it's a legendary defender with no useful extra abilities, which feels underwhelming, and it spends a lot of on drawbacks that aren't really drawbacks, just deckbuilding ones. Maybe make it smaller and have it say "...damage equal to its power to Rogan and target creature or player"?
Lost Man - I...is Happiness meant to just not exist as a card name? Like not only does the tutor not do anything, but there's no such thing as Happiness? Bleak! Cruel! Hilarious!
Lost Man - I...is Happiness meant to just not exist as a card name? Like not only does the tutor not do anything, but there's no such thing as Happiness? Bleak! Cruel! Hilarious!
I'd prefer it if Happiness was a card name. Take a closer look at the text:
At the beginning of your upkeep, search your library for a card named "Happiness". Then shuffle your library.
You don't actually get to do anything with the Happiness card. You just search for it...then shuffle it back in. It's like, yes, Happiness is out there, and this guy gets to have a glimpse of it...but then, just as swiftly as it came, it is gone again, never to actually be known to the Lost Man.
Rogan: Unlike my other set of cards these are more meant to be flavorful than constructed playable, but OTOH there's no reason I shouldn't do both! Him having defender is my way of depicting his goodness- it's obvious he can fight but he chooses only to defend.
Lost Man: It is impossible for him to find happiness (the card doesn't exist) and even if he did find it, he wouldn't know what to do with it.
On that subject, do you guys feels it is sadder if he is a Legendary creature? I feel like that would make him more empathizable but there is also something sort of sad in having him be a "generic" creature, so to speak. Like his situation is not exactly unique.
Perhaps Happiness has a Panglacial Wurm-style ability. "When you search for ~, creatures you control get +0/2 until EOT." He finds Happiness briefly, shares it with friends, but it doesn't last.
That's an interesting idea. In the case that searching for a non-existant card is too silver border, I was thinking of making Happiness a Miracle card that only does something if you play it for its miracle cost. Meaning that Happiness is great if you happen upon it organically, but doesn't do anything for you if you try to force it into your possession (as the Lost Man does).
Here's another emotional card:
Rage FormRRR
Enchantment
Whenever a source an opponent controls deals damage to you, add X to your mana pool, where X is the amount of damage dealt.
When this mana empties from your mana pool, Rage form does Y damage to you, where Y is the amount of mana emptied this way.
The idea here is that anger gives you the energy to take action, but can become self destructive if you don't direct it towards meaningful action. I'm also a wee bit concerned about the formatting here.
So here young Ludevic really wants to do science, more than anything else. He is willing to do anything just to gain a tiny bit more knowledge. He would prefer to do his work on goats or whatever, but circumstances may come to the point where he runs out. Then he (through the player) has a choice. Himself, or his daughter? He really does value them, as much as he does his own life. But only exactly as much. Given the equivalency of their lives, it comes down to logic to tip the scales, in a confrontation acted out by the players. As a player controlling Ludevic, what do you choose? Is the life of a 0/1 with no abilities worth more than a 3/4 who draws cards? Most likely not. So you enact the thought processes of (my imagined history of) Ludevic through your gameplay actions. Through the lens of a practical, logical mind, the scientist is more valuable than the little girl. And so the devoted daughter dies. Both in gameplay and in Ludevic's personal narrative.
Perhaps this story is about to stir you emotionally, even a little. Even then, could you compel yourself to kill the scientist to bring justice to the girl? Likely you cannot, for it is so painful to lose value. You are trapped in the iron cage of rationality and you are not free to take any course of action except the rational one, even if it means bringing tragedy and injustice to a narrative in which you emotional stake. You make the horrific choice, not out of evil or malice, but rationality.
Now all that said lol maybe the card would be more easily understood if you couldn't sacrifice himself. What do you guys think?
Ludevic, Burgeoning Scientist2UU
Legendary Creature - Human Wizard
When Ludevic, Burgeoning Scientist enters the battlefield, put a 0/1 white human creature tokens on to the battlefield.
At the beginning of your upkeep sacrifice another non-human creature you control. If you don't, sacrifice a human creature you control.
Whenever you sacrifice a creature, draw a card.
3/4 "My lovely daughter, you are all I have left. You, and science."
Rather awesome flavor (all of the cards). imo a better way to push the point here would be with a unique token combined with sacrifice of any creature rather than forcing "non-human"/"human" (which WotC wouldn't do).
Ludevic, Burgeoning Scientist 2UU
Legendary Creature - Human Wizard
When Ludevic, Burgeoning Scientist enters the battlefield, put a legendary 0/1 white Human creature token named Elsa onto the battlefield.
At the beginning of your upkeep sacrifice a creature.
Whenever you sacrifice a creature, draw a card.
3/4 "My lovely daughter, you are all I have left. You, and science."
Perhaps, make "Happiness" a split-card "Happiness/Depress" & "Lost Man" transformable, "Lost Man/Enlightened Soul"

Creature - Spirit
Enlightened Spirit can't attack or block.
At the beginning of each upkeep, you may exile a card from your hand.
If you do, gain life equal to it's converted mana cost, otherwise transform Enlightened Soul.
2/2 "Insanity is in the eye of it's beholder, what bliss?"
Legendary token is a really good idea. It's definitely easier to empathize with something that has a name and unique art. The rules text is also a lot more printable In fact this simplification might allow for my original idea of creating monsters instead.
Ludevic, Burgeoning Scientist2UU
