Seeing how design has experimented recently with white getting very conditional card draw, I had this idea for a white card drawing effect that only draws the card if it's the right type.

Creature - Human Artifier T: Reveal the top card of your library. If it's an Equipment card, you may put it into your hand.

This way white can't simply draw into all its answers yet it can draw more cards of a desired subset. This can also apply to Auras or enchantments in general, and maybe tribal (the theme, not the card type).

MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.
Kinda weak. I mean, stoneforge mystic is good, but this is dialling down the ability way too much. Even if stoneforge can only get one equipment, most decks don't have that much equipment anyway, and you'll be lucky to have this generate card advantage maybe once or twice.
How about "If it isn't, you may put it at the bottom of your library"? Or make it 2/2? Or just cost W?

A Stoneforge Acolyte that only looks at one card. I think you could improve the functionality slightly by ending it with "Otherwise put it on the top or bottom of your library."
Oh, wow, so they've already done Commune-style Equipment drawing for white? Here's hoping for more like it in the future.
