Mages' Duelgrounds
Land - Island Mountain (R)
(T: Add U or R to your mana pool.)
This card is named Volcanic Island while in the deck.
As ~ enters the battlefield, you may reveal a Jace or Chandra card you own from outside the game. If you don't, ~ enters the battlefield tapped.

(This card's name is treated as Volcanic Island at all times.)
This is supposed to tie together the planeswalker intro decks and Eternal Masters releases.
Gameplay-wise, playing this dual limits your sideboard to 13-14 cards. So the downside is big enough that the originals will still be played, but the card itself is similar enough that edh, casual, and budget players will be satisfied.

I think it's fine for the land to enter the battlefield tapped unless a Jace or Chandra card is revealed. But why does the card have to be from outside the game? It would make more sense if the card were revealed from within the game, such as from the hand.
Also, if the name of the card is supposed to be treated as Volcanic Island at all times (which it isn't, from the way the card is currently written, due to the reminder text formatting), why not just name the card Volcanic Island to begin with? As it stands, the name "Mage's Duelgrounds" has no functional meaning, and doesn't refer to any card that is in a game.

Outside of the game so in competitive events you would have to use up one of your sideboard slots to fit in a planeswalker.
And I have no clue how naming mechanics work. My intention is to have this be a Volcanic Island. So a deck should have either 4 Volcanic Island or 4 Mage's Duelgrounds or a combination of them totaling no greater than 4.

You might as well say, "Search your library for Volcanic Island and exile it or sacrifice Mage's Dualgrounds"
Or after reading the intent a little bit closer. Perhaps, "When Mage's Dualgrounds enters the battlefield, search your library for Volcanic Island and exile it to untap Mage's Dualgrounds.
I wouldn't even bother with mentioning Volcanic Island at all.
But why not just specify sideboard if that's what you mean? It's roughly the same number of words, and more intuitive.
Because one wording is established on existing cards like Burning Wish and the other would add new vocabulary to cards for something that already has extant terminology.
Also it seems wierd that it's weaker if you run the planeswalker that was in your sidedeck.
Yeah, this is weird. I don't see why this needs to refer to planeswalker types at all - since the card is mainly supposed to be a placeholder in the sideboard, there is no specific reason to make it a type of card that is not accessible in any environment. It's weid that this changes in playability with access to certain planeswalker types. Might as well be:
As ~ enters the battlefield, you may reveal a Mountain or Island card you own from outside the game. If you don't, ~ enters the battlefield tapped.
Heck, you could add "basic" on there to drive home that the sideboard slot is truly wasted.
If you want this to be exclusive to the original duals, just ban either.
Fyndhorn Elves
Creature - Elf Druid
This card is named Llanowar Elves at all times.
: Add to your mana pool.
Honestly though - I would read this exactly the opposite way of what you intent: I would assume the printed name applies during deckbuilding (since this would also be the name I would put into my decklist and to refer to the correct Oracle wording) while it is actually named Volcanic Island during gameplay for effects like Cursed Scroll.
Your text implies the wrong interaction - you need better means to your end.
Polished the card up. I'm keeping the Volcanic Island clause, but I also doubt that it's necessary. I don't think a lot of legacy decks would take advantage of dual lands 5-8. And its referring to the walkers for flavor purposes(the idea came from the planeswalker intro decks).
I read this thread four times and still don't get it....

Or something, because your "named" cause is bad design.

"Volcanic Island" bond
As ~ enters the battlefield, you may reveal a Jace or Chandra card you own from outside the game. If you don't, ~ enters the battlefield tapped.
There. You can have up to four cards that are either this or VI, but no more than 4 in the combination.
This version might work for format limits too, so this card would be banned if VI was banned and would be restricted if VI is restricted, etc.
Although it would not be legal if the set VI is in is not, but you could say...

That's perfectly ok for casual games. The point is make dual lands more accessible without obsoleting the originals.
