Hello all! First time posting in this neck of the forum. Because I have no life, I've been going through Magic's history to find characters who never got cards - and boy, are there are lot of them! Here are some of my favorite cards I've designed to help correct this injustice.
Mairsil the Pretender 2UB
Legendary Creature – Spirit
Mairsil the Pretender can’t block or be blocked.
Whenever Mairsil the Pretender deals combat damage to a player, you may exile it. If you do, gain control of target creature that player controls. That creature’s name becomes Mairsil the Pretender, it’s a legendary Spirit in addition to its other types, and it gains this ability. 1/3
Disa the Restless 2RG
Legendary Creature – Elf Scout
Whenever Disa the Restless enters or leaves the battlefield, each player sacrifices a land, searches their library for a land card and puts it onto the battlefield tapped, then shuffles their library. 3/2
I also like this otherversion of Disa, but I'm a bit torn over which is more elegant. The first one seems like it would result in a lot of shuffling and slow the game down, but the second seems kind of busy. I'm also not sure if she should only search for basic lands. Thoughts?
Disa the Restless 2RG
Legendary Creature – Elf Scout
Haste
At the beginning of your end step, return Disa the Restless to your hand.
Whenever Disa the Restless leaves the battlefield, sacrifice a land, search your library for a land card and put it onto the battlefield tapped, then shuffle your library. 3/2
Lothar Lovisasson 3RW
Legendary Creature – Human Berserker
Vigilance, haste
Lothar Lovisasson attacks or blocks each turn if able.
Whenever Lothar Lovisasson attacks or blocks, other attacking or blocking creatures you control get +1/+1 until end of turn. 3/2 The fury of Balduvia. The honor of Kjeldor. The strength of both.

Your first creature gave me an awesome idea for a legendary. Basically it would be exactly the same except a 1/1 with hexproof (it would be able to block and be blocked) then it would have the same combat damage to a player clause but instead of renaming the creature it takes to Mairsil it would just rename it Mairsil's thrull and it would gain fading 3 or 4 or something. Basically you could be recasting this commander stealing multiple of your opponents creatures. I don't know the lore of Mairsil I was just using it as an example so I don't know if this would fit lore wise with him.
Mairsil - Shouldn't that name be "Mairsil, Called the Pretender"? In any case, might be a little undercosted; that body hopping ability can really clean house with an opponent's side of the board after even just one hit.
Disa - Go with the first version, I think; the second one, as you said, might result in overshuffling. Then again, casting her multiple times is still expensive, and the second version feels more thoroughly multicolor.
Lothar - Dude's fragile for his cost and his drawbacks - always having to get into combat means that he's going to die very quickly very often. Maybe amp up the risk/reward factor by granting an ability along with the pump? Double strike, if you're feeling very nutty? (Of course, that would almost definitely require a cost increase.)
Thanks for the great feedback, void_nothing! I added 1 to the cost of Mairsil, but I'm a little worried that as a 1/3 for 5 he doesn't read as attractively anymore. I mashed the two versions of Disa together, and I think I actually like this version best. For Lothar I bumped up his p/t to make him less fragile, but now I think he might be undercosted

Your Marsil reminds me of a card I made for a Sultai Commander that is kind of like an Alternate Mimeoplasm. It was
It that RemainsBUG
Legendary Creature – Ooze Shapeshifter (M)
You may have It that Remains enter the battlefield of any creature card in a graveyard except it's still names It that Remains.
