For the Uamos, the Green/Blue faction from my set Zairo, I was having trouble coming up with a solid mechanic that felt true to the colors as well as something that people would enjoy. I didn't want to use counters, and I ended up making a flash variant that was overpowered. So, after some more brainstorming, I came up with this instead:
Progress (At the beginning of each other player's upkeep, you may untap target permanent you control.)
Its a very simple mechanic, which I enjoy. I think it would be found within the GWU color shard, but I'll keep it in GU to support the enemy color pairs in my set. Progress works in blue and green because both care about having supplies, whether it be lands untapped to cast spells or creatures untapped for blockers. Cards like our powerful friend Prophet of Kruphix inspired this ability, as it shows how on one card it can be insanely powerful, but how will it play out spread across a bunch of different cards? The one thing I don't like is the name, and I'm trying to come up with something a little more crafty.

So every creature effectively has Vigilance. That alone presents an issue (particularly for a nonwhite faction). So it should probably target another permanent.
I kinda have to agree. The idea _sounds_ neat, but the more I think about it, the harder it seems to balance. For example it seems to break down with anything capable of producing more than 1 mana, remember the Voyaging Satyr/Kiora's Follower/Nykthos combo? This is a compound version of that as soon as you try to go beyond limited.
Even if you're making this for limited only, when you start multiplying these I'm not sure how much it can warp the format anymore.
Keep in mind, it only untaps stuff during opponents' upkeeps. imo, untapping a land during each opponent's upkeep would be fine. You'd have to design and develop a limited archetype around it.
