These are some copy-based spells I've been messing with. The general goal is to find interesting things to do with copy effects, maybe up the ante on its utility. The relevant colors I chose ended up being Red, Blue and White, with white being there insofar as the ideas also serve a protective function. Some of the ideas overlap with a mirroring/reflection theme as well.
First, a little series of rare multi-colored instants:
Arcane ReplicationUR
Instant (R)
Multikicker UR (You may pay an additional UR any number of times as you cast this spell.)
Counter target instant or sorcery spell. You may cast a copy of that spell and choose new targets for the copy for each time Arcane Replication was kicked.
Righteous Impersonation3WU
Instant (R)
Exile target creature, then put a token copy of it onto the battlefield under your control.
Painful Reflections3WR
Instant (R)
The next time a source of your choice would deal damage this turn, that damage is dealt to each opponent instead.
Note: I realize this is more powerful than Reflect Damage for the same mana cost, but I feel Reflect Damage is over-costed.
Mirror ArcanaRWU
Instant (R)
Counter target spell or ability that targets you. You may play a copy of that spell or ability and choose new targets for the copy.
A couple in-color, hybrid-mana anti-copying side-board cards:
Power of One(U/R)
Instant (U)
Counter target spell or ability if that spell or ability is a copy.
I feel this is an instance in which red can justifiably get countering.
Dispel Illusions(W/U)(W/U)
Sorcery (U)
Destroy target non-land permanent if that permanent is a copy.
Likewise, this might be an instance in which blue can get destruction.
Lastly, a little series of multi-colored Mythic legendary creatures:
Salabesh, Master of Illusion3UR
Legendary Creature - Human Wizard (M)
Whenever you cast an instant or sorcery, you may copy it and choose new targets for the copy. T: Counter target instant, sorcery, or ability if it is a copy.
2/3
My comparison point is Riku of Two Reflections and Mirari. I figure since it is legendary and multi-colored, it about balances out as more powerful than Mirari, and it does less than Riku does but doesn't require mana to copy spells.
Ilquix, the Impersonator3WU
Legendary Creature - Shapeshifter (M)
Flash
When Ilquix, the Impersonator enters the battlefield, you may counter target permanent spell. Ilquix, the Impersonator becomes a copy of that permanent.
0/0
Azaad, the Protectorate3WR
Legendary Creature - Human Cleric (M)
Whenever you or Azaad would take damage, instead prevent that damage and Azaad deals that much damage to each opponent.
1/1
Ishara, the Mirror MagusRWU
Legendary Creature - Human Wizard (M)
Whenever you or Ishara, the Mirror Magus are the target of a spell or ability, you may put a copy of that spell or ability onto the stack and choose new targets for the copy.
2/2
Arcane replication is dangerous in storm. It's one thing to put a copy on the stack, its another to play the spell again, beause that triggers storm.
IRghteous impersonation is too good. Compare to mind control, which is 3UU, an enchantment which means your opponent has a chance of getting the creature back, plus impersonation can be used to save your own creatures, making it much more flexible than mind control.
Power of one and dispel ilulsions should be rares, because of the incredibly narrow application. I gues that depemds on the set, though.
