Double Down 1R
Instant (R)
Copy target instant or sorcery spell. (You may not choose new targets for that copy.)

This card is a riff on a card I made for a Remaking Magic design challenge. My original card was designed for Dreamscape of Noctus:
Gossamer Dreams 1UG
Enchantment (R)
Whenever one or more cards leave your library, you may pay 1. If you do, put a 1/1 blue and green Faerie creature token with flying and deathtouch onto the battlefield.

This card is a top-down design based on The Brass Teapot, a movie I came across on Netflix this weekend. In the movie, the titular teapot creates money whenever pain is experienced in its vicinity:
Brass Teapot 3
Artifact (R)
At the end of each turn, if X or more damage was dealt, you get X gold counters, where X is the number of charge counters on ~. Then put a charge counter on ~. (You may spend gold counters as mana of any color.) XX,t: ~ deals X damage to you.
Double Down - Could be an interesting variant. There are a lot of untargeted spells that this can still benefit from. And I do occasionally like copying a targeted spell with an extra effect like Annihilate and keeping the same target so that the other player does not get the extra effect.
Gossamer Dreams - Does this trigger work correctly when you draw three cards?
120.2. Cards may only be drawn one at a time. If a player is instructed to draw multiple cards, that player performs that many individual card draws.
Brass Teapot - Wording is awkward. If you activate the ability, does X also need to be equal to the number of charge counters? I think a lot of players would think it needs to be equal, but rules-wise they are separate.
At the beginning of each end step, if the total damage dealt this turn was greater than or equal to the number of charge counters on Brass Teapot, you get a gold counter for each charge counter on Brass Teapot. Then put a charge counter on it. (You may spend gold counters as mana of any color.) XX, T: Brass Teapot deals X damage to you.

I complete agree that the wording was awkward and that using X in two different abilities would confuse people. I didn't want to use X in the first ability, but I didn't know how to word it properly otherwise. Thanks a ton for fixing that for me!

As always, comments are much appreciated!

That's sneaky! I like it.
I really don't know the answer to that. My intent though is that Divination (and other multi-draw events) would only trigger this card one time each.
