For my never-ending quest to make my High Fantasy / Arthurian Legend block, here are some cards, some of which I put up here in one form or another in the past.
Some notes before the cards:
- Mechanical theme is combat matters.
- Returning mechanics thus far are Battalion and Quests. Battalion shows up in R/W in the first set, and will likely bleed into B in the next. Quests now have the Quest subtype.
- First new mechanic is set, and you can see it down below: Oathkeeper. Oathkeeper is in B/G/W.
- To accommodate Oathkeeper, there is a higher number of combat tricks in the set than average.
- Oathkeeper represents allegiance to one of the three "Lords": The King of Havelon (a R/W character), a mysterious Lich Lord (a B character), and the Leader of a Band of Bandits and Rogues in Veswood Forest (a G character).

1/1
NOTE: Working on a bigger version of this creature at uncommon or rare that can be cast for free if you sac four of these.
Treasure Chest3 Artifact (U)
3, t, Sacrifice Treasure Chest: Draw three cards. Activate this ability only if a creature an opponent controlled died this turn.
Any and all thoughts and input, as always, is welcome and appreciated.
I'm not positive monster encounter is broken, but I think it might be.
Edit: treasure chest should probably cost 2 to cast

Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.

Ponder -- much weaker than impulse, and impulse is already in the periphery of playability.
Quest for the flame shrine -- I'd prefer this as uncommon.
"Sometimes, the situation is outracing a threat, sometimes it's ignoring it, and sometimes it involves sideboarding in 4x Hope//Pray." --Doug Linn

Battalion is an existing mechanic, I just forgot one of the words. It's fixed.
Impulse is a really good card.
Why at Uncommon? This is basically just a slower Lightning Strike with the bonus of 1 extra damage in exchange for telegraphing your move.

- No Brains, All Feelings Cube
Normally, yes, but in my sets, I've set a distinction.
