Still of WinterWW
Snow Instant [C]
Prevent all combat damage that would be dealt this turn. Avalanche — Draw a card and reveal it. If it’s a snow card, prevent all noncombat damage that would be dealt this turn.
Gelid Tide1UU
Snow Instant [C]
Tap up to one target creature and up to one target land. Avalanche — Draw a card and reveal it. If it’s a snow card, those permanents don’t untap during their controller’s next untap step.
Swallowing Deep2B
Snow Sorcery [C]
Target opponent reveals his or her hand. You choose a creature card from it. That player discards that card. Avalanche — Draw a card and reveal it. If it’s a snow card, exile all creature cards from that player's graveyard.
Falling Serac3R
Snow Instant [C]
Falling Serac deals 3 damage to target player. Avalanche — Draw a card and reveal it. If it’s a snow card, Falling Serac deals 1 damage to each creature that player controls.
Omen of Frost1U
Snow Instant [U]
Look at the top three cards of your library, then put them back in any order. Avalanche — Draw a card and reveal it. If it’s a snow card, put Omen of Frost on top of its owner’s library.
SlopestrikeRR
Snow Sorcery [U]
Target creature gets +2/+0 and gains haste until end of turn. Avalanche — Draw a card and reveal it. If it’s a snow card, that creature can’t be blocked this turn except by two or more creatures.
Winter Bloom2G
Snow Sorcery [U]
You may play an additional land this turn. Avalanche — Draw a card and reveal it. If it’s a snow card, instead you may play up to three additional lands this turn.
Storm of the Sylex9WWW
Snow Sorcery [R]
Destroy all nonland permanents. Avalanche — Draw a card and reveal it. If it’s a snow card, return all nonland permanent cards from your graveyard to the battlefield. (Auras with nothing to enchant remain in your graveyard.)
Northern Betrayal2BBB
Snow Instant [R]
Search target opponent’s library for a creature card and put that card onto the battlefield under your control. Then that player shuffles his or her library. Sacrifice that creature at the beginning of the next end step. Avalanche — Draw a card and reveal it. If it’s a snow card, instead don’t sacrifice the creature.
Come Winter4UUU
Snow Sorcery [M]
You have no maximum hand size for the rest of the game. Avalanche — Draw a card and reveal it. If it’s a snow card, you may repeat this process.
EDIT: Changed Swallowing Deep from choosing a CMC 2 or less card to choosing a creature card, changed the avalanche ability from gaining 2 life.

This is a great implementation and perfect for avalanche flavor. It looks like most of your cards have the cost of the cantrip taken into consideration, too, which is important. Come Winter is pretty scary in the right deck!
Thanks, guys. It's been a long, hard road to this one.
Now, it's time for the real challenge... going back to rebuild ignite from the ground-up.
For the record, the three big mechanics so far are dire and avalanche for the Kaldarjar, and spectrum for the Coalition. I need my final mechanic (Coalition mechanic #2) to be splashy and different... something on the level of bestow or DFC's.

Call me crazy - does the "planeswalkerification"/"artificial sparks" thing call for... maybe... a looser riff on the whole concept of planeswalkerdom?
Almost certainly.
I mean, Coalition mechanic #2 doesn't HAVE to be planeswalker-related, but it would sure be a help if it was.
And the first go-around with ignite really convinced me that there are no half-measures with planeswalker status. Short of Gideon Jura himself, of course.
The other things that make planeswalkers planeswalkers - "Attackable," "You can redirect damage," "One ability per turn and only at sorcery speed," and "sort of the legend rule" aren't doable or fun at common. "Counters as a cost" is imho the way to go.
Could Northern Betrayal use the Skizzik wording?
Search target opponent’s library for a creature card and put that card onto the battlefield under your control. Then that player shuffles his or her library.
Avalanche — Draw a card and reveal it. Unless it's a snow card, sacrifice that creature at the beginning of the next end step.
Come Winter seems severely undercosted compared to Primal Surge and Enter the Infinite, but I assume there aren't any combo-y snow cards in this custom meta.

I thought about that. What I'd probably do is use Sindbad as my template and adopt "if it isn't a snow card" wording. But I felt like that was a big alteration of the ability word, so I kind of shied away from it.
With Northern Betrayal in particular, I was a little worried that maybe it didn't work within the rules, but I think that as it stands, it creates a replacement effect for itself for later, and is OK. But I struggled at first with some designs for other cards that used the "instead" wording, because I couldn't have the second half of the card undoing a step you took in the first half. So in the end, only this and Winter Bloom used "instead."

It's definitely a card that I'm going to have to watch. Because obviously I put it at a cost that's meant to be playable beyond just preposterous EDH / casual decks. But you're absolutely right that my thinking here stemmed from the self-limiting factor of the combo. You can think of all sorts of ways to ramp it out, I'm sure, but if even one of those ways is non-snow, you risk whiffing with the card.
It might not prove to be enough, so I might have to raise the cost, but I do want it to come in under Enter the Infinite, at least.
So here's my issue from a rules standpoint with Northern Betrayal: the sacrifice is not an effect of the spell, but an effect of the delayed end-step trigger that is created by the spell. The instruction "don't sacrifice the creature," as a self-replacement effect, doesn't seem that it stops the delayed trigger from being created, and therefore wouldn't replace anything.
Granted, I'm pretty sure 99% of casual players would play it right anyway.
