I've been working on a 'Modern Alpha' for a while, basically retooling cards from the first set to have modern balance and design sensibilities. This was my EXACT design for Timetwister. (Well, okay, I just had it end the turn, not 'if it's your turn, end the turn' which solves a niche exploit with Quicken.)
Now if they also print the card below, I'll know someone hacked me.
I was working on a war-themed set, and one of the keywords was similar to the recently-spoiled Renown. It went like this:
Veterancy X (At the end of each combat, if this creature attacked or blocked this turn and has less than X +1/+1 counter[s] on it, put a +1/+1 counter on it.)
At least one version I thought of was similar to the wording of renown, except it triggered at end of combat.
(At the end of each combat, if this creature dealt combat damage this turn and isn't a veteran, put X +1/+1 counter[s] on it and it becomes a veteran.)
Maybe I should just use Renown as my returning keyword...
I made a keyword a several months ago for a return to zendikar set called terraform that functions like bestow (or cycling in a way) in that it lets you play spells as lands instead if you want. Wizards hasn't printed anything like it, but I'm worried they might in Battle for Zendikar. Here's an example of a card with terraform.
Cloudfeather Elemental2W
Creature — Elemental
Flying
Unless an opponent controls more lands than you, Cloudfeather Elemental can't attack or block, and its activated abilities can't be activated.
Terraform WW(You may play this as a colorless land. If you do, it enters the battlefield tapped and gains "T: Add WW to your mana pool.)
5/5
This one is part of a cycle of mythics that are all 5/5, cost 2W, 2U, etc., produce two mana of their color as lands, and have drawbacks that are relevant whether they're creatures or lands. Most terraform cards only tap for one mana, are comparatively weaker than vanilla options, and don't necessarily have relevant abilities when they're lands (trample, for instance). I really hope Wizards doesn't use this in BfZ.
Another mechanic I designed for my return to zendikar set is landstorm, which quite simply is storm that copies itself for each land that entered the battlefield that turn, rather than each spell cast. This one is less interesting, but I think it's reasonable Wizards might try something like this too, which would suck.
So if I were to say "you're a complete douchebag who has his head up his ass so far he's using his own eyeballs as glasses," you'd simply shrug it off?

The new Liliana is very similar to a black walker I once designed, minus the transformation part. The second and third abilities were the same except that mine had reanimated the creatures come into play tapped, and its +1 was "up to one target creature you control gains deathtouch until your next turn".
I just now remembered that, a while back, I was brainstorming a Pirate tribal mechanic and came up with something very similar to Ingest, called Plunder. Basically a special keyword action that exiled one or more cards, but allowed other cards to refer to "plundered" cards for other effects. The Battle for Zendikar Eldrazi do basically the same thing but with access to all exiled cards, so less parasitic. Coincidentally my mechanic was also in UBR for reasons of Pirate flavor and because of theft effects (as of this post it seems that "colored" Eldrazi cards in this set are limited to those three colors also).
Slave Gladiator (Common) 2R
Creature - Human Warrior
2/2
Whenever Slave Gladiator deals combat damage, put a level counter on it.
As long as Slave Gladiator has two or more level counters on it, it's 4/4, legendary, and named Gladius Maximus.
While working on "Conspiracy 2" a couple months back, I designed this mechanic: Fracture (Whenever this creature attacks an opponent, put a token that's a copy of it onto the battlefield tapped and attacking each other opponent. Exile those tokens at end of combat.)
We've just seen today Wizards' has a Commander mechanic for 2015: Myriad (Whenever this creature attacks, for each opponent other than defending player, you may put a token that's a copy of this creature onto the battlefield tapped and attacking that player or a planeswalker he or she controls. Exile the tokens at end of combat.)
Mindbreak1UBR

Now for a why haven't they printed this spell yet.
Demand2UUU
Instant (R)
Gain control of target spell. You may choose new targets for it.
Simple enough effect, blue is known for theft, and is king of stack interaction. So why not, Wizards? I'm basing the cost off of Desertion and Spelljack. It beats Desertion in most cases. But it can't stop field wipes like Spelljack can, hence the higherU requirement at Desertion's cost.
Will of the Firemind 4UR
Instant
Gain control of target spell. If that spell has targets, you may choose new targets for it. (Permanent spells you control enter the battlefield under your control)
Is this considered necro? I wanted to say that there used to be a shop called anycraze back in the day and their website had a card creator and would actually sell you stickers for cheap of the cards you created. I made many dozens of cards in those days as did my friends. We'd order sheets of our stickers and they'd be legal at our kitchen table once approved by the rest of the gang.
We had Amulet of Vigorfor Zero cmc that just read "permanents come into play untapped."
Our Panoptic Mirrorcost 4 to cast. We had one affect that was basically Prototype Portal imprinting an artifact land.
We had a monogreenGiant Solifuge but it had regen instead of shroud but I like the hybrid mana version better. If only we had had the foresight to invent that.
I could go on for days.
I wouldn't be surprised to learn they mined that site for ideas because that feature of anycraze was shut down after a C&D order from WOTC.
I remember Seedtime had inspired a whole cycle of "traps"
Every set seems to have one of our old cards.
The one I'm still waiting for is a blue spell we designed to follow upmanipulate fate and foresight called something like

"I'll believe it when we see the bodies"
In June 2014, a weekly contest thread I followed did a "make a sixth color" round. The idea I had for something that could actually be printed without throwing the game into disarray was to care about colorless.
Creation's Thread1(G/W)
Enchantment (R) 3GW: Each player puts an exiled card they own on the bottom of his or her library.
Reveal Creation’s Thread from your hand: If you control a permanent named Creation’s Thread, a card named Creation’s Thread is in your graveyard, and you own an exiled card named Creation’s Thread, you win the game.

I was toying around with a theme with a way to make lands produce only colourless and effects that come from non coloured mana (now colourless). And then wizards did the same and changed the rules to add <>

Would definitely see play, and quite powerful. Too easy to trigger off fetchlands, painlands, shocklands, thoughtseize, etc.
