Challenge in May was:
Choose any one card that have not been printed in any Ravnica block before and make a brand new artwork for it. Of course you can't choose any card, but one that could fit any of the Ravnica Guilds's ideology and flavor. Also, the piece you create must display a distinctive element from the guild you'll be orienting the artwork to, such as a guild symbol, or a well known character from the guild. For example, You may create a new artwork for Unstable Mutation, depicting a simic mage (provided with the proper guild badge) executing an experiment; or make a new artwork for Centaur Glade, depicting Emmara recruitting a centaur faction. Possibilities are vast. Imagination is your best ally.
- Colors: Please, respect the colors of the guild you chose. If you chose to create a boros artwork piece, please don't make it for a card such as Necropotence. You know what I mean.
In May, we had two pretty cool entries for the artwork contest and I am already curious to see who is going to win the trophy! Both entries are very different, making it hard to predict a winner. Here goes:
Both paintings are flavorful and look like they belong on the card they're supposed to represent. Galspanic's painting looks like it could have been the original artwork for City of Shadows. Definitely looks like some of the artwork from that period. The Emortal's work has a modern look that could have appeared in the RTR block. Nice work to both artists. This is a difficult choice.
Galspanic's. just because i have a similar playmat and have always liked buildings. i was expecting something more intense for double negative. still, both arts are all amazing.
I wish I could've finished a piece for this, particularly considering I came up with the contest idea. I had three pieces in mind, but computer problems kept me from being able to enter this time around. I voted for Galspanic's as it looked the best to me. Neither of them really look refined to the point where they belong on a card, but I feel like Galspanic's work showed a higher level of experience.
It's of one of those I really can't decide, they are both really nice executions, so I voted for the Emortal just because I personally like drawing characters more than buildings-scenery.Awesome job for both:)!
Alright, apparently I did not include an automatic deadline in this polls, so I will close this manually right now: Round is closed. Vote count: Galspanic 5, The Emortal 7.
Congrats to The Emortal for winning the cup this month, well done
