I had originally used the shot Nezumi was using, with the reaper-character.
I decided to go along with this after having seen it already being used.
Avatars are hard to generate from the content given, unless animated.
I tried to not make an animated avatar ( After already making one and passing it into the recycling bin. ) because I wanted something still, which turned into a scramble to find shots that are usable for something like that.
All art created while listening to the Malice Mizer's Merveilles Album.
Hopefully I provide some strong competition for others~. 8D
So does every one like this contest? I like the entries so far.
yea, but the massive amount of good entries are diminishing my thoughts of winning........*sigh
also, if any one is intensly wondering (probably nezumi, waiting to tell me it's distorted again ), i redid the sig (and i might change it again , but i'm working on a new avvy, but having a hard time keeping it animated and under 40kb but i'll keep trying....

man, i was hoping to enter something with this contest. But getting screen caps and using stuff from a video is way outta my range i think. I've never been taught how to do it.
I like most of the banners so far. some of the animated avvy's are pretty good looking. I like the one that Chubbz submitted.

well i'm not sure what everyone did, but if you open the movie out of quicktime, you can use the copy and paste hotkeys for the whole video pane, without having to edit out the rest of your screen (like with a screenshot). but then again , maybe everyone doesn't have quicktime...
I just copied the screen to my clipboard and messed with it from there (PrtScn button)
Animations would be a lot better in quicktime, but anytime that I mess with that I usually try a process of hit and miss with printing the screen at various times. It's a pain, but doesn't stop me from doing it.
also with it being quicktime, you can actually open the video in photoshop and play the animation in it, not as good of quality as doing the copy/paste using quicktime itself though.

Here is my entry:

The only problem I ran into was catching a good quality screenshot. Which I kinda didn't...

I think in this couple of year 2010 weeks we had more new contestants than we had in the whole last year
eds: just saw, that your entry isn't 450x150 px. Like it a little less now, but that doesn't mean it's badly done.

To be honest, I have watched the last few weeks and planned on entering, but never found the time.
By the time I was sitting down and opened up Photoshop, the contest deadline was either too close or I had zero idea of what I wanted to make.
That's okay.
I generally dislike larger format signatures.
They seem too block-y or "thick".
Not to mention the unnecessary "white" space they can generate in the signature.
Plus, our resources weren't exactly the best place to make something from.
( Youtube~. Even downloading and extracting a frame from the .mp4 still made it pretty unimpressive. 8( )
Hopefully the next one will be as cool, but not requiring to stream a movie (which for some odd reason took forever)
Good luck to one and all!

More time, yes.
But it meant I didn't have to worry as much about blurring from moving pieces of video.
