Here is my next attempt at a Black on Black Planeswalker
All critiques welcome.
@Kentu - I am using CS2 version of photoshop...I dont think it had the vibrance option to adjust colors. I usually <snip>* so the brightness, in my opinion, helps. If I decide to go with a foil planeswalker route, I may look into changing the brightness. Thanks for your suggestions. I really appreciate them.
@Bolas - I am use to making the art fit in the frame and running with it. After reading your comment, the size of Ugin stuck out like a sore thumb. Thanks for pointing it out to me.

No prob man. We're all here to provide constructive feedback; everyone here appreciates good art and workmanship.

A big "thank you" to everyone who contributes to this thread. Has anyone made the tango lands from BFZ? Don't worry about making them if they're not already done but I was just wondering if someone already did them & I've missed it.

Playtest cards aren't trying to be reproductions of real Magic cards; they don't have official art and they wouldn't pass even as the real thing under the most cursory glance. Fans use playtest cards to test out new deck ideas before building out a deck for real and bringing it to a sanctioned tournament. And that's perfectly fine with us. Wizards of the Coast has no desire to police playtest cards made for personal, non-commercial use, even if that usage takes place in a store.
Does this have any ramifications on our community?

Not really. Wizards of the Coast's policy regarding proxies and counterfeits hasn't changed. A key portion of what you quoted from the article that pertains to digital renders is this:

Clearly the digital renders here are trying to be more than just playtest cards.
I will remind everyone that discussions regarding printing anything utilizing any of Wizards' intellectual property (artwork, card frames, mana symbols, icons, etc) are still forbidden.
Currently taking a Digital Imaging class in college and trying to learn from people who actually know what they're doing. This is as far as I can get by myself. I'll continue to improve, I hope.

Wonderful!! Thanks for sharing. By the way, I forget how to do that lighting effects from Photoshop (it seems that people used to talk about this some long long time ago. But I just forget it ). Would you teach me which function key(s) you choose from photoshop and what should be the steps to do it please?

Great work! Btw, did you leave out the first line of Cavern on purpose? Wonder if the same treatment can be done for the Tron lands, Mishra's Factory and Mutavault. Urza also had a factory... lol

Haha, no la, just too tired yesterday and ommited the line. Currently in my office , will fix it later. Thanks.
About the Tron lands and Mishra's Factory , Mutavault matters: That sounds to be an exhausting effort to complete all of them. Let see. ^__^
P.S.: Problem Fixed. By the way, would any one be so kind as to tell me how to make lighting effects like what Narb did in Photoshop please? @__@
Thanks for your kindly answering. About the " Painting Lighting " step: I am actually quite a photoshop idiot. May I ask:
1/ how do you "using colors picked from the image" in Photoshop? by what function and tool(s) you choose in doing that?
2/ similar to the above question: how do you "Paint" a new layer? I am not too sure about what you mean.(i.e. again, by what function and tool(s) you choose in CS in order to "Paint" such lighting colors on a new layer?
Please forgive me for my stupid and clumsy questions. But the "Painting Lighting" step you showed is the step I don't understand the most( what photoshop utilities, tools and steps you use, I mean ) ^__^;
Again, thank you so much for your rapid and kindly answering and tutoring.

I'm always happy to help! To answer your questions in reverse order:
2) I create a new, transparent layer above everything so I can see what I'm doing, and use the Brush tool (keyboard shortcut B, circled on image in red) with a soft-edged brush like shown (blue circle, you can select your brush shape and size with the drop-down menu). Then using the colors you picked just select and draw on the new layer. For this image in particular I also used a Blur filter to make the transitions between colors really soft.
1) When you have the Brush tool selected, hold down Alt/Option and the cursor will turn into an eyedropper. It will change the current color to whatever color you click on.
