Oh, zeerbe , this template is really really nice but where can I find it ? ( smaller textbox regular card frame ) Is it included in your All-In-One Template? It seems that I can't find it. Would you point me to the correct direction please?

I am sure it's custom just for this project. But while we're talking about this: the template for the fetchlands you made (where the text box tapers down)--any chance of seeing that one? I looked in "realms" but didn't see it so I assume it's another one of your superb custom creations.
I'm going to cause alot of disappointment with this I just know it.
I'm not releasing custom frames. They are, usually, one-shots. The Zendikar-with-rules took me by surprise with it's popularity though.
Here's why:
The same tools should be available for anyone to use and modify to their needs or desires. That's what the All-In-One, Realms, etc and the work done on the Magic Symbols 2012 font are for. The only difference is that I am using different fonts at times, and some elements from xerent's amazing templates.
I love working and tweaking the frames. I encourage everyone else to see what they can create and come up with as well.
Being selfish ensures that something out there actually remains unique, even if for a short time. Go ahead and re-create a frame! I also am more than willing to answer any questions on how to create a custom frame.
I wanted those squirrel renders to be instantly identifiable, and not watered down because there are a hundred more renders exactly the same.
I'm aware this is an unpopular stance, but it is one I'll be sticking to. If WOTC releases a new frame, rest assured it'll be an expansion for the All-In-One.

Look, people, there's a wealth of information out there about photoshop use, image manipulation, etc.
Allow me to chart my progress on this thread and its predecessor over the past...14 months or so.
-I get shown a custom foil Rafiq (original art, text overlaid with no box, like a game day promo)
-I run to the old thread, and see the amazingness.
-I create my own custom foils, using the digital renders supplied in the old thread, even down to cards that aren't my generals.
-My girlfriend designs a custom foil Nin, the Pain Artist using a super basic web-based program ( http://pixlr.com/editor/ if you want to try it)
-I decide that I want all my generals to be this way, and I start doing it.
-It's slow. I make a lot of mistakes.
-I try new things. I click buttons just to see what they do.
-I mess up on fonts, colors, shading.
-When I finish with one card, I see what I need to improve on in the next card.
-I learn GIMP, because the web program isn't useful enough.
-I alter Zeerbe's template to be my own template, for making cards look the way I want.
-I show my cards to others who are actually trained in digital art techniques, and I learn things. (I take notes, literally, while at an FNM and I wrote down "Hold shift with the magic wand!!!")
-I ask my friends for their favorite generals, and I make those cards, just so I have new cards to practice on. (I did an effect with layer masks and guild emblems that I haven't been able to duplicate...yet)
-My girlfriend asks for custom Bird tokens, and the first attempts at those are clumsy...but they improve. I'm able to use GIMP well enough by now that I can ask the questions which will get her the look she wants.
-I start posting my work here.
-I ask questions and get answers about how to create good shadows on my work. This adds a level of depth and complexity that I'm SUPREMELY happy with.
-I start my EDH blog, and my post about my 15 custom generals is a hot hot potato.
This is not a fast process. Learning something new never is.
Zeerbe, HolyProxyBatman, and others will sometimes make cards on request. I think this is a nice thing to do...to a point.
I would have nowhere near the enjoyment and glee in my custom generals if I weren't the one who made them. When someone wants to know how I did it, I am more than willing to explain, and I often point them to this forum, just as I was guided here.
Z's point about encouraging people to experiment with this is well taken. This is art, people!
Try something new! Do something different.
If you want to get just one card, get one card. But if you ever think to yourself, "Wow, I want to have lots of those!" then learn to make these!
I know what style of card I like, but in this thread I get exposed to a lot of different styles/approaches that are appealing to others.
I like a super-art with spill and shadow. The game-day-style full-art cards (especially the lands) sing to me in a way I can't explain fully. Seeing the many, MANY different takes on the dual lands, down to the custom mana symbols, is amazing to me. (Should I ever design a set those lands for myself, I'm more of a traditionalist though)
Here's another example: I taught my girlfriend how to make EDH boxes from booster boxes. (it's in the blog on my sig) She liked it, but felt it could be done better. She's working on using a couple of magnets and a glue gun to build something a little more elegant.
When you create, you own it, you take joy in it, and you share that more freely. I don't know how else to say it.

I have 15 EDH decks...sorta kills the 'I only need one of a card' aspect of the format.
I went and started a Commander/EDH blog! Come see it at http://wordofcommander.blogspot.com/ and it includes all 15 of my custom super-art generals!
If you're more into the finance section of the game, I write on Fridays for MTGPrice.com.
I just edit it myself. Remember "Shift" is your friend in these templates
1. Get to the normal frame and select the card type box with selector tool. Then press shortcut "v"(don't know the tool name) and move down the part to where you need it. Select bits of the lines next to the art and do this again while pressing "Alt" to duplicate into the same layer.
2. This time lower the text box in twins in the same way and repeat for all the textures above this.
3. Only thing left is the type text. Just move it until it's on the right height.
Sounds more complicated then it is, but just follow the steps and you're done.
If anything is unclear just PM me. This might not be the best way, but you'd have to wait for Z to find out how he does it.
Back to the renders. I've been goofing around in the Realms template(thank you again zeerbe :)) and came up with this new style
Thanks for both yours and zeerbe's answering. Maybe I have to try and to do some research on it by myself. If I come up with somethings I don't understand or I can't manage to solve it, Please be so kind as to give me a helping hand. :frown:Thank You Very Much. Oh , also, the mana land you made is truly amazing. Thanks for your kindly sharing.
I'm not releasing custom frames. They are, usually, one-shots. The Zendikar-with-rules took me by surprise with it's popularity though.
Zeerbe, honestly, it's your work, your creation, your time. You don't owe anyone here anything. Honestly I've been dismayed at the "ooh make me this!" "Hey, here's a list of 20 cards I want you to make for meee!" "U guise are kewl, DO FOR MEEE". It seems to be getting worse and worse in this new thread. If you refusing to release your own custom frames upsets people, when you've already given them so much... frankly, F them. On the other hand, if your refusing to do so makes at least one person download GIMP and actually trying to teach themselves how to fish, proverbially speaking, then it's a win.
Zeerbe, HolyProxyBatman, and others will sometimes make cards on request. I think this is a nice thing to do...to a point.

Evil Cliff, you are positive and constructive and diplomatic where I would fail to be even polite. I agree with everything you said, and minus the asking for tips on here, I did very near the same thing. I saw cool stuff, I taught myself how to do it in GIMP. What started off as crude and simplistic has gotten more and more refined over time.
People, GIMP is free. Stop begging other people to do things for you and put some time and effort into learning to do things for yourself. Making things is fun, to boot. Try new things, explore, DO something instead of begging someone else to do it for you.
What started off as crude and simplistic has gotten more and more refined over time.
This is the most true statement anyone ever uttered. Or typed.
Thank you for the kind words, but I don't think being constructive is hard.
This is a pretty awesome board--a few pages back I had a polite disagreement with someone about the bars across the new game day promos.
I still hate them, but I can see what someone else's point was about how it looks like a window into another world. Or something, I'm paraphrasing.
Over time, I've gotten better, but the mistakes still glare at me.
I'm computer-proficient, but I wish I had the patience to take up paint/drawing in person. I've had rk post alter some cards at events, and it's frightening how in a couple of minutes, with just a silver and a black sharpie, he can add capes, wings, animals, boobs, whatever.
But then again, if I have a background image, I can make a super-art card in maybe 30 minutes without a lot of extra stuff.
I imagine that Z or others can do it better and faster, but I'm pleased at my progress.
I suppose that on this forum, in this setting, there will be people who don't want to do the work. And if someone wants to use my art for their generals, party on. I had to learn because I wanted my cards my way.

Google image through various keywords, deviantart, and random things. I keep a picture folder with prospective images, with a description and artist name. Whenever i see a cool picture in a good resolution, i snag it for later.
You can also modify images you find. Red mages have become blue snapcasters, and pictures get modified and cropped to center in frames better.
EDIT: I forgot to add that my comp was hit by a Lightning Bolt for 3, and is now firmly in the 'yard. Dunno if I lost anything yet.
At least it wasn't exiled.
After reading those posts last page, I took a closer look at the finer points of your templates, and figured out for the most part how they "really" work (beyond simple masks and cutting\moving elements). Created a similar-looking Zendikar Fullart w/ rules text. Just thought I'd say thanks for the encouragement. It's tedious work for now, but I think with some practice I'll have it down to a science.
I'm glad you've looked at the nuts and bolts. It's not as complex as the layer structure would have you believe. It's just lots and lots and lots of clipping and layer masks.
It's actually a PC — Zombie now. It's 100% working again, though I have no network access on that one.
Been using the wife's for posting the last 2 days.
Here's the first practical result of my tinkering with Z's template(s):
Some slight imperfections in the strokes and clipping mask(s), but hardly noticeable. For an an hour of fooling around, I'd call it a success.
After an hour google reverse image searching, I couldn't find a name to attach to the artwork, and there's no signature on the piece itself. So for now, it'll be "anonymous" or "unknown."

I don't get as many PM's as when Super Secret Tech© was still allowed. I always answer PM's the same as I do here. If they're asking for help that I could give in a thread, they get it. I refuse, politely, any other solicitations, and report them to a Mod asap.
