Scanners hate titanium white so any issues the card has are compounded by the scan - looks like it's way chalkier than in real life, yeah?
The titanium pigment is a saturation sucker as well as a lightener, so you might benefit from laying a really thin glaze over the top. A watered down layer of Yellow Ochre might be a good start, but for warmer compositions like this I've found that Quinacridone Burnt Orange is an absolute must. It's a really intense reddish orange that stays bright when you add a lot of water and it loves being laid over white areas. I don't know if you've used it before, but if not... favorite color to work with. It just does so much when trying to match printed cards.
@MRB Personally I'ld cover the remaining clouds under the ornithopter too, you did a fine job painting the rest of the clouds anyway. Otherwise I guess it needs more red in the mix, but it always depends on what brand of acrylics you use.
@Spade Yeah, I'm not a huge fan of acrylics. They dry to quick for me, and the liquid retarder thins them too much. I've thought about using oils but I don't know if I can keep the painting thin enough.
I'm using Golden fluids, so I can't even blame the paint for the colors.
@Galspanic The scan picked up the colors pretty faithfully. You nailed the issue though, I couldn't get the orange tone I needed. I may look for that Quinacridoe Burnt Orange.
Once you get used to it, you should like the quick drying. I can lay down 5-6 layers on a card in 20 minutes without worrying about contaminating earlier work. Oils will eat your cards, aren't as flexible, and the varnish will eat through or stick to sleeves. Acrylic really is the way to go - just need to find ways of making the downsides into advantages. Don't use retarder either. That stuff is bull***** for painting on cards. Just awful awful garbage.
Quin Burn Orange is a Golden color and they might be the only ones who make it still, but I think once you play with it a bit you will like it.
I've got a tumblr that I post all my crap on *Snip* and you can tend to find my stuff posted on the subreddit for altered art. I've been trying to get into altering for awhile now, but I've only recently started taking it seriously.

An intersting idea I saw on Facebook from Bigup (on a lighting bolt with acrylics) and I copied fast on a Shock with a 2B pencil. Pretty simple and fun way to alter any white boarded card.

This is pretty sweet...finally, a use for all my old white-bordered cards!
I knew you did great work, but seeing it side by side with the original really shows the depth of your abilities.
I can't wait to get this beauty in my hands.

I love these painting styles, how it keeps the color border, and loyalty markers. Keep up the good work!
