This is the problem with basically everything. We set these bollocks standards and expect it to be fine, but people act horrificly towards another gender or race and they get away with it. Why is it not okay to show a female's nipple? It was done very tastefully, unlike some of the 'SFW' work that has bee submitted which is vulgar and insulting.
Yeah, society has some weird double standards but let's not debate this again. Standards here are based on creating a safe environment for users of all ages but also from all moral & religious backgrounds across the world.

While I do agree with your last statement, it still true that trying to stablish a clear and objective line between what's acceptable and what´s not would be almost impossible. I bet than, in the past, the standards of what could be acceptable and what couldn't here probably were more flexible. Then a bunch of inflated boobs with nipples like udders flooded the thread, in form of manga alters. So, the current policy just solved the problem. While I think it would be cooler to just filter the questionable pieces and let pass thoses with "good taste", it would be more like a problem rather than a solution (and it will always leave the chance of complaining about the actions taken to almost everyone.)

Even when I think it would be nice to be more flexible, I'm in totally agreement with this. Unfortunately, the way things are now here is the best option we have. Sad, but true.

I find this to be false, as I have seen some debates and insults towards religion and anti-religion and the posts and posters stick around. I couldn't give you an example here and now, but I will bring this up when I see it again.
Ideological lines in the sand are always a bit muddled, but I understand the site's position as a place to discuss a game, which certainly includes a demographic under the age of 13. It's not an "art forum", so I'm not going to ask what forms of nipples would be appropriate. (cue the Botticelli argument lol)
Next time I'll strategically place a smiley face, or is that form of censorship pushing it as well, in a censor evasion sorta way? Just curious for future reference, I'm not going to be posting pixelated genitals or anything. :B

The point is to not bring it up again. That's why I preceded my statement with the bit about society having double standards. If you want to debate the standards and policies of this website you can do it in the Community Issues section and not in the Altered Art thread.
3 cards for the evening x2 sublime Archangel and an Urza's mine towards the set:
Urza's Mine:
Sublime Archangel x2:
I like the detail you put into that Urza's Mine, however, your yellow seems a bit-muddied. I've been working on this problem for a while, the only way I found to get a more vivid yellow like that on Urza's Mine is you do a layer of white beforehand on the pieces you want to be yellow, then do a layer of yellow over the white. Yellow paint is actually VERY thin and translucent and doesn't cover well when put over darker colors.
Let me know if this helps! (You could also mix White/Yellow into a pasty-yellow, and do a yellow coat over that. It worked on my Full art Force of Will a couple pages back.)

Thanks for the advice Plague, Yellow has and continues to be one of the roughest colors for me to work on, especially since I do not remove the background through magic eraser as many artists do. I have had varying levels of success with yellows but suppose I need to focus on it a bit more next year.
FoW avengers assemble! love em sandreline! I especially liked not going with the same FoW pose that is usually used and going with more in your face pieces. Really Pops (the Hulk)!
Finally submitting after a while.

@EvilNerdINC awesome work well blended, the disk however can use a bit more stuff, don't quite know what exactly though.. I do love your smoke work (the way you paint smoke) is crazily realistic and adds alot to the card ; i.e your previous 'geist of saint traft' and others.
I used lots of thin layers of paint. I'm building on what I learned from the last painted alter I did (Blood Speaker). This piece was created for the Dec Altered art contest. The scan made the colors look a bit washed out, but I'll work on that on the next piece.
@seesic amazing use of colors and outlining. I wish I can magically put that Mirrored Depth art on rites of replication for my edh deck, Its perfect (five copies in the art piece, including the eye!)
@pendrell Thanks, I asked my friend to make a cartoon mock up on ps and I painted it. We had a discussion about the olden days with yugioh cards and their toon counterparts. Dark days of card games (didn't know about magic) haha.

@poxy - same as evilnerdinc, speechless.
@evilnerdinc i've been uploading attachments and don't know how to get that full image that everyone displays, techunsavy to the max. Now im using insert image from deviantart...and it may be too big =/..Oh and your work is still very clean and the matching is spot on!
the card lies! *awkward flavor text*
All hail the queen!

@ raw, for deviantart when you are submitting the piece you can adjust the size of the pixels (its a drop-down under fullview size). change to 400 pixels and you should get a more manageable size, or you can use photo editing software like Photoshop to adjust the size before uploading.

Happy New Year, everyone! I just got back from visiting family, so I haven't had time to post. Here's a pair of commissions I did while at the PTQ in Flint, MI.
