Great time in Indianapolis this past weekend. I decided to set up shop at StarCity's Open and had a blast painting, chatting with people, and showing off my wears.
It's been forever since I did any extensions. Here's some work from the event:
Hopefully I'll be able to attend DC at the end of the month!
I might change the flavour text to say something like, "Mistbind Clique, fly swat".
Just being picky, but wouldn't this work better on a Go For the Throat since he kills a large number of gangsters in the series? (black, no character, that type of connection). REGARDLESS, its pretty freaking sweet.
If it is not done with paint guided by your hand then it does not belong here, put your little photoshop training wheels on and ride on over to the digital thread.
Don't flame.
I lol'd. Because all the great artists for magic such as John Avon, Steve Argyle, Chippy, and dozens of others now do pretty much exclusively digital work. Terese Nielsen and Rebecca Guay still use a lot of traditional, and I've been meaning to ask how much digital is in their work these days. It's cheaper and more efficient than sending sketches and canvas back and forth in the mail until Wizards gives the nod of approval.
Just because it isn't "real" doesn't mean it doesn't take skill. Especially guys like Mike Komarck who do a combination of rendering, brushing, and postwork. That takes some vision.
I would however describe the cards on trial here as "cheap." They're cool in their own way, and require some planning and forethought, but they don't really fit in with the the rest of this particular thread--especially since some of them aren't original artwork. They should be showcased in a different spot.

I think every single 'printed alter' I've ever seen except one Jitte was just a copy/paste into Photoshop.
This is in no way comparable to actually using Painter/Photoshop to create art, if they were actually creating art in PS and printing it on to cards, that's very different.
Still feels 'off' because it is easy to create many and sell them, but from a critique standpoint, it'd be cool to see it here.
I'm not going to even do crit or discuss 'Hi, I printed this picture of Link on my card' it doesn't make much sense.
I've made "Gurren Lagann" mountains where I've replaced the fire symbol with the Dai Gurren-Dan logo (see avatar) or just thrown it over the fullart ZEN. They look pretty slick for just using permanent ink--I scratched out the area with razor blades so it looks really clean. Unfortunately my scanner broke and I think my camera's lenses got out of alignment. I'll get them up here eventually.
I'd like to start doing more involved stuff, but I can't find the time. And I'm not sure what medium I would prefer (paint and brush, or pens).
Back to the grind. I traded for a bunch of cards in Indy and have lots of fun stuff planned this week. I've been wanting to do this one for a few weeks now.
Commission I picked up in Indy: a lord of dragons if I ever knew one.
you know whats funny is I just watched this movie the other day with my partners, I really like the looks of this! Too cute! Would love someone to edit an Ebon Dragon to look like Toothless.

"When were you under the impression, that you were under the impression?"
Matt: Jedi are invincible, they can take out anyone.
Me: But if a Jedi were to face Neo in the Matrix, he could turn the Midiclorians into AIDS.
Everyone in car:.....!?!?!?
I am looking for Xx Copies of Angelic Destiny, in all Languages, Foil and Non-Foil as well.

Sorry if the camera makes it hard to see - it sort of makes the colours look crappier What do you think? Any helpful suggestions? Thanks.
I plan to try something a little better once I can get hold of some paints.
EDIT: And Klug, that Hand of Cruelty is beautifully done. So clean.
