My take on Merieke. I run her as one of my generals and really enjoy playing her. Wanted to preserve the original flavor (creepy girl in a dress, chillin out in the woods), and play up the Blue/White/Black colors. This is still WIP. Thanks for looking.
I too am a big fan of Merieke. Does feel creepy but I'm not totally digging it. Seems pretty plain tbh. However, I do like the direction you're going with this.
Personally, I like the first dress more. If you keep the blood stain on the second dress, should she have some smeared on her boob?
Maybe the sky could be darker, more cloudy?

Work her mouth a bit more. If you can get a little twitch apparent in there it could really help. Don't neglect the lines that occur between the corner of the mouth and the edge of the cheek when someone smirks. Use reference photos!
While were on the subject of Merieke, I have a rules question about her.
Her text reads:
Gain control of target creature as long as you control Merieke. When Merieke leaves play or becomes untapped, destroy that creature.
My question is... what if I blink her out (with Venser, cloudshift, etc...)?
She is leaving play AND I lose control of her since she ceases to exist for a split second. The reason why I'm asking is that I thought I could take someone's indestructible creature, blink her out (the creature is then destroyed, but since it's indestructible, stays in play under my control), then take another indestructible creature.
A person I play Magic with insisted that blinking her out is not "leaving play," but "losing control." He kicked a Rite of Replication on a Darksteel Colossus, made 5 copies of it, which I then proceeded to take each one by untapping Merieke with things like Thousand Year Elixir and Minamo School at Water's Edge. Then I blinked her out and the guy took all of his Darksteels back. I was under the impression that blinking her out wouldn't cause me to lose control of those creatures since Merieke was "leaving play," and not the first clause of "losing control" of Merieke. I didn't argue and let him take his dudes back, but I always wondered about it.
I think your opponent got the end result correct but is misunderstanding what 'losing control' means. Losing control generally refers to changing possession of a permanent while it's on the battlefield.
From the Gatherer:
9/25/2006: If Merieke leaves the battlefield, you will immediately lose control of the creature you took and Merieke's "destroy" ability will trigger. The affected creature will go back under the control of the appropriate player, then it will be destroyed.
If Merieke Ri Berit simply becomes untapped for any reason after her 'take control' effect has resolved you will not lose control of the creatures taken before her 'destroy' trigger resolves. If those creatures are indestructible then you get to keep them.
To clarify blinking (or flickering) effects: Since the creature or permanent is being exiled, even though it is only for an instant, you'll lose control of that creature. You can only control something if it's on the battlefield, and since she's leaving the battlefield, no matter how long she's gone, you've lost control of her, and the delayed trigger will send the creatures you stole back to their original owner.
Personally, I like the first dress more. If you keep the blood stain on the second dress, should she have some smeared on her boob?

He's asking about an indestructible creature. But that discussion should really be in a different thread anyway.
