1. Who actually would care if there are ads on the wiki? Is this a valid concern, and why?
2. Whereabouts, if there were ads, would it be cool with you? Why? (Any wikis with ads that you wanna mention as examples?)
3. Please, just discuss without my already extremely vague prompting. Thanks.
I'm just chucking this out here for discussion; as far as anyone should be concerned, it's just to satiate my interest, and nothing more. =)
Also, I made a lame thread to avoid getting infracted or something (omg, doublepost in discussion thread), so there. =p
Cheers.
-MM, possibly on behalf of the other wiki sysops, lol. Olol, [probably] not.
To whomever it may concern; my apologies if I jumped the shark on this, btw.
I'd hate to say that I've tuned out ads, but I do. I get enough ads on billboards in my city and tune those out as well. Society is constantly bombarded with advertisements (/end soapbox). Thus, it doesnt matter to me where they go or what they advertise (magic cards, magic tricks, etc). Grin

I don't even know how I know of Alexa; I probably saw it on Wikipedia, lol.
Edit: Crud; I'm like half-dead tired, but I think that shows MTGS Wiki and MTGS forums.
Personally I'd be surprised if it did
Yeah, I guess you would be, huh.
but if it does, then ads are probably a good idea.
Mmm... true that.
But, hypothetically, what if there wasn't a choice in the matter of having ads, and all that was to be decided on was the placement, what type, and how many?
If you are staying with Monobook as the default skin, I see no problem with including a strip of ads underneath the 'toolbox' on the left-hand side for longer pages.
Mmm... if ads were ever to be implemented, personally that's how I'd like it.:)

Haha, I think I may have become completely apathetic to a great deal of things, among which are ads. =|
I should care and should do some things, shouldn't I, Mike?
ya know i dont really care if there are ads in wiki, solong as their out of the way, headder ads, footer ads and left side ads (under the current menue) would be fine with me...otherwise it's prettymuch just dead space anyways.
My only problem is if they started putting ads in the middle of the actual articles, which is just annoying

Yup, ok.
I'm thinking like you, then. See, I'm okay with ads, no ads, whatever; but, in the off-chance that ads are implemented, I'd like them to be out of the way (under the search area and navigation panel; 'dead space'); out of sight, out of mind. I just hate intrusive ads on the 'net, and I wouldn't want to see intrusive ads on the wiki, either.

Or between the article name and the article itself...
If you read this, someone...:swear:
Joking, of course.:p
But, yeah, it looks like (most) people are fine with ads, but would like them out of the way.
