Gideon knowing every white spell is ridiculous. Bolas knowing most spells is just extrapolation of his character. He's 25000 years old. He was using Magic millenia before the humans of Dominaria even understood what magic was. In the books he's been shown repeatedly to know spells that don't even exist as Magic cards, and that often could have only existed outside his three colours.
So it's pretty fair to say that he'd know all of the most common spells, or some very close approximation to each of them. Into the Core is Phyrexian, so he doesn't get that. But not knowing Shatter or something like it would be inconceivable.
But anyway, the Sword of Gryffindor is apparently indestructible. That's okay. They're not going to hit him with it anyway.

One would think Sleep would be a castable spell for Bolas as well.
Also, what spells does he use that would be outside of his normal three colors?

So does bolas have access to every single red, blue and black spell in all of magic? It seems like that's what many are implying with the arguments I'm seeing. Personally I think that's too far reaching and just lame. He's powerful, but he's not that powerful.
Technically, we had a ruling that the PWs would only be allowed to use the spells most closely associated with them. Still, sometimes we need to extrapolate. However, I do agree that in some cases people take it too far.
Still two days left to vote. I'm also still deciding if we're going to have further bonus matches. I have a few ideas lined up, but I also think that now that the tourney is concluded, we should probably give it a break. Comments welcome.
I participate yearly in a survival challenge in which I am dropped off in the wilderness with 1 days rations, a knife, and no other supplies, and have to find my way home. This is typically several weeks hiking from civilization.
I have personally killed several bears in the course of this challenge, with the use of snares and other traps.
Much as I might like Wizard guide. In this case Bolas's potential spells are simply stronger than the sorts of things that either of the wizards are likely to use, also, bolas is a master of strategy, and while both of the wizards are as well, at best for the wizards its a tie in that category. Plus, Bolas is a giant dragon, which puts him massively ahead in the physical power department.
Inevitably, I see Psychic Monsters eventually pulling out the victory, though the battle will be hard fought, with magics flying all around the area.
I think it's safe to say the TOU clean-sweeped the entire set of bonus matches. Funny how these tournaments work.
With my upcoming military service, I've been busy these past few weeks with logistical matters, gathering documents, and otherwise getting fit, so apologies for not updating you all. Come december, I will no longer be a frequent poster on MTGS (but I'll try), but it was a fun little run with you all while the TOC/TOU lasted.
That said, thank you all for participating, and I wish you all the best in your future endeavors.
