Now that the TOC and TOU eliminations are over, we have our winners! Congratulations to each of the final four of the TOC and the TOU. With that, the tournaments have officially come to a close… but that doesn’t prevent us from having some “Bonus Matches” to find out who the best of the best really are.
This set of Bonus Matches wants to find out: If we pit the finalists of the TOC and TOU against each other, who would win?
Team "By Your Powers Combined" - Captain Planet and Avatar Aang
The members of both teams are transported to a different dimension with all information about their opponents “uploaded” into their minds. They have 30 minutes to prepare and talk to each other (they don’t know anything about each other as teammates, save for any experience from previous matches of this same tournament), and will also have full access to any technology, magic, weaponry, resources, etc. which they would routinely be able to use from their respective universes. Teammates may share resources with each other. Afterwards, both teams are teleported to the randomly chosen plane, which has mystically sealed off so that none of them can escape the battlefield in any way. The team that manages to knock out and/or kill both members of the opposing team will be declared the winner. There is no time limit.
Write ups for both teams:
Team "By Your Powers Combined" - Captain Planet and Avatar Aang
Champion of Gaia, the spirit of the Earth, Captain Planet is the embodiment of the four classic Greek elements (Earth, Fire, Wind and Water) put into humanoid form through the power of Heart. He is a superhero who is bound to the physical realm of the planet, and can manipulate the elements to his will. In his universe, he combats villains who wish to use the planet for motives such as greed, power, or simply enjoying seeing the pain inflicted on society caused by environmental destruction. He gains power from the planet, but any forms of destruction to it weakens him severely. He is routinely assisted by the Planeteers, a group of young people united in diversity, armed each with a ring associated with each element which grants them their own powers, motivated by a common goal of saving the world, who can combine their powers to summon him, leaving Captain Planet to take on the battles that they would not be able to manage otherwise.
The Avatar is the spirit of the planet in human form, and is the only person in the world who can master the fighting traditions of all four of the classic Greek elements of his (or her, in this case, his) universe (Earth, Fire, Air and Water). He is as old as the deities who existed at the dawn of time, is born as an element "bender" under one of the four nations in a cycle, and eventually learns to master all the elements over the course of his life to act out his duty as the peacekeeper of the world. As if being the absolute master of the elements was not enough, the Avatar can be put into an "Avatar State" when in a life-threatening situation, causing him to have the power of all past Avatars simultaneously. This is the adult Avatar Aang in his prime, a child prodigy who became one of the greatest (if not the greatest) of the Avatars to have ever lived.
Both characters are paragons of their ideals, powered by the earth spirits of their respective universe, advocates of peace, harmony, spiritual and natural balance, and the greater good of the planet. Both characters are earth-shaking and incredibly powerful elemental controllers, assisted by a group of young people, tasked to take down threats capable of destroying the world. These two, if they ever met, would become great allies to each other in the never-ending quest for the protection of the world.
Team "Smash" - Doomsday and Hulk
Nearly unstoppable forces of incredible power, Doomsday is famous for being the being that could kill Superman. The Hulk is, likewise, capable of extreme power and nearly limitless rage. Combined physical might will make them a challenge for any opponent as they can smash their way to victory.
How do I vote for the team I like? Well, I'm glad you asked...
This tournament uses a “Dual-Voting System” in which every user on MTGS may vote twice, once on the poll of the thread, and once by posting on the thread itself (by explicitly stating “I vote for team *insert name* because *insert reason*” in a post on the thread). You may spread these votes as you wish (you can vote anonymously on the poll for one team, but express your vote publicly through a post for another), or use them both to vote for the same team, or only vote once (using either method). In the end, the total of both "poll" and "post" votes will be used to determine a winner. In the event of a tie between total votes, the team with the most votes posted publicly on the thread itself shall be declared the winner, and move on to the next round. You only have one week to vote (two weeks for the semi-finals and finals), and the poll automatically closes on Sunday, 12MN (GMT +1). Only posts that occur before that time will be counted as valid votes.
Now, who wins this match? Root for your favorites now!
I participate yearly in a survival challenge in which I am dropped off in the wilderness with 1 days rations, a knife, and no other supplies, and have to find my way home. This is typically several weeks hiking from civilization.

YES a good close match!! Now we are cooking, I am initately leaning towards BYPC by the simple fact that magama HEALS CP, When "someone tossed me in a mountan and brought me back to full health in the process" is a DAM good defense, However Smash is nothing to be laughed at. How I see the stats
Agility/Monoverbiltiy BYPC wins here hands down flight/super speed are a nice combe that smash just doesn't have. one can only jump so high,
Endurance Smash, these guys take a hit HARD but CP can too... but combine there endurance far supassess the other team
Strenth, Smash, Honorable mention to CP again but these guys eat sleep and breath RAW power....
Brains, BYPC, both of these guys are extreemly bright. Rasion and reason are VERY powerful allys when fighing rage.
So its close, but even though I agree Aang is a weak link here (again crazy right) I think brains and agility will beat endurance and strenth. Also terran advantage to CP is just crazy here.
This is basically Captain Planet vs Hulk and Doomsday. There's literally nothing Aang can do hurt the other team. Elemental attacks are NOT useful againest people that survive full powered Ghost Rider/Human Torch flames and Superman's frost breath.
Your wrong Von, Aang has wisdom, if ANYONE could find a nonvillent way of getting out of this, Aang could. I see him fliying VERY VERY high (behond their jump) figuring out a solution which calms hulk down (making him bruse) and incapacitates Doomsday.

Aang is the weakest link here. (Bet you never thought you'd hear that!)
Smash has advantage from the terrain, especially since we all know Shiv was a pretty desolate area as far as mana went in the Time Spiral series.
Vote Smash
I had to look it up to see if the Planechase Shiv featured in the card was pre-, mid-, or post-Time Spiral. Here's what I found out:
"A region shaken by volcanoes, permeated with ash-riddled gases, and lorded over by dragons, Shiv is one of Dominaria's most red-mana-centric regions. Recently phased fully back into Dominaria by Teferi at the cost of his planeswalker spark, Shiv has a deep history that dates back to the time of the Thran, who used it as a site of the immense Mana Rig, source of the powerstones that powered their civilization. These days you'll find more fire-throated dragons than Thran machinery, but it can still play a key role in powering a red-mana assault." - Doug Beyer, The Planes of Planechase
So this is Shiv restored to its former glory by Teferi, and long after the TS Apocalypse.
As for Aang being the "weakest link": While I do agree that a single punch from either member of Team "Smash" would murder Aang, the fact remains that they actually have to hit him for this to happen. Also, Aang and CP have no reason to hold back, seeing as their opponents are, quite simply, agents of destruction. They'll do everything in their power to contain the threat they pose to the environment and the world. Team "Smash" isn't tactically smart enough to abuse CP's weakness either, and conversely, the Plane's pure, R mana has plenty of molten lava and magma for CP to use to heal himself and for Aang to open up into chasms and pits, and to raise walls upon walls of scorching elemental doom.
Oh, and I also watched Superman: Doomsday in an attempt to find a version of DD that is at least true to the comics version without being ludicrously OP. In that movie, DD does not solo the JL, but he's a mindless rage beast, and, more true to the comics, he does manage to kill Superman and vice versa, albiet a much weaker version of him, comparable to the one from Superman: TAS. I think it's a truer version than the JL Cartoon version of DD. That said, I think CP and Aang have enough in them to take on that version of DD, and the movie Hulk, whom we have here.

I could see Aang using airbending to create harmonic calming frequency's which make hulk no longer upset... As the avatar he has the ability to induce his own deep meditation so he knows how that feels, as a skilled airbender, I could see him manipulating the air to recreate that frequency in his opponents, He has never had a reason to try something like this before all of his foes have had conscious decisions to kill/destory/be evil, Hulk is just raw rage.... giving him inner peace may be the way of disabling him.

To add to this, there's always CP's power of Heart, which can also be used to induce a similar effect (though I admit, using Airbending to calm the Hulk is a very interesting use of his powers, draftguy2; I see CP's heart power to probably be more effective).
Though I've seen the first two episodes of Season 2 of Legend of Korra last night, and it turns out Waterbending can also be used to calm mindless rage. Who knew?

That's all speculation. Weird music could easily make the Hulk more annoyed instead of calming him down. The fact is, Hulk, even animated/videogames/hollywood Hulk, can thunder clap/shout once and incapacitate Aang. Then it's 'clobbering time' on Captain Planet. Shout outs to the Thing.
ok lets go with heart and water bending... the cannon choices than.... THunderclap and shout will not be extremely effective here as basically that is just using force of AIR. which is a basic element and totaly in BYPC terf.
Has Aang done airbending to make music before? Is this an actual thing or just a hypothesis?
It's speculation. The problem with Airbending is that, because Aang was the "Last Airbender" for a very, very long time, and because his successor Korra is not very skilled in the art, we don't actually know the full extent of Airbending, and have technically never seen an Airbending master in action (save Tenzin, Aang's son, who is badass enough to use an air wheel to cut through solid objects, but his screen time in combat isn't equivalent to ten minutes).
So can Airbending make music? I say why not. Wind instruments are one of the core types of instruments in any orchestra, and sound travels through air, but yes, this is entirely guesswork in nature, with no canonical basis in Avatar lore. However I'd argue that while we probably have never seen it happen, it's not beyond a whole stretch of the imagination.
But then, it's Shiv. I doubt the surrounding areas would be calm enough to try such a stunt.
Still, if you want something canonical, Waterbending is the way to go. That can definitely be used to calm raging spirits.

That's true but the more relevant question is can Aang react at supersonic speeds to stop the shockwave from knocking him out?
If Aang can calm down the Hulk (big if) then this essentially turns to a 1v1 between Doomsday and Captain Planet (I'm assuming Aang would be tied up bending in order to not let the Hulk get angry again). I think Doomsday can beat Captain Planet in a 1v1 fight.

Yeah, that's pretty much it, right? I'm comfortable saying that Hulk can definitely be taken out of this match (either by waterbending or Heart), and that's a big step forward. But how do they beat Doomsday? He took out Superman. Captain Planet is basically a weaker version of 'Supes.
Does Doomsday have blood? Can we use bloodbending to just kill him outright, or maybe even slow him down enough that Captain Planet can actually win a punching contest?
To be honest, we're still awaiting a canonical explanation. All we know for now is that it requires a vast spiritual knowledge (which Aang definitely has) and Waterbending capability. What it essentially does is wrap the opponent in a calming aura and makes them lose the will to fight. This was used very effectively to calm down an otherwise unstoppable group of rampaging spirits fueled by anger in the two most recently released Avatar episodes. Korra (Aang's successor as Avatar) picked up this skill rather quickly (albiet crudely; she is not a spiritual Avatar, at all), and it's evidently one of the "required abilities" the Avatar must have as the bridge between the spiritual and physical worlds.
Does Doomsday have blood? Can we use bloodbending to just kill him outright, or maybe even slow him down enough that Captain Planet can actually win a punching contest?
We have two elemental masters and a whole terrain where they can sink DD in lava, or make him fall into fissures. It could slow him down. While DD most likely wouldn't even feel the lava, CP would be constantly healed by it. Thus, if Aang were to, say, open a chasm straight down, and CP grapples DD and takes him to a journey to the center of the earth for a few rounds, the pure elements should boost CPs durability considerably, leading to a very long, drawn out fist fight.
EDIT: Oh, and it's OOC for Aang to bloodbend. His wife hates that. This would be akin to arguing that Dumbledore would use Avada Kedavra. There's no question that the characters in question could do it if they wanted to, but because of moral constraints, they probably wont.

No way would lava stop Doomsday, he would swim through it like water.
I believe that as well. In the JLU cartoon, he and Superman have a toss up in a volcano, and it didn't seem to slow him down at all. I'm just pointing out that the difference is that CP would be healed by a lava fight, while DD wouldn't.

I believe that as well. In the JLU cartoon, he and Superman have a toss up in a volcano, and it didn't seem to slow him down at all. I'm just pointing out that the difference is that CP would be healed by a lava fight, while DD wouldn't.

Doomsday: "Or you could surrender."
In a way, that's kind of poetic. Will our planet survive doomsday?
