The members of both teams are transported to a different dimension with all information about their opponents “uploaded” into their minds. They have 30 minutes to prepare and talk to each other (they don’t know anything about each other as teammates, save for any experience from previous matches of this same tournament), and will also have full access to any technology, magic, weaponry, resources, etc. which they would routinely be able to use from their respective universes. Teammates may share resources with each other. Afterwards, both teams are teleported to the randomly chosen plane, which has mystically sealed off so that none of them can escape the battlefield in any way. The team that manages to knock out and/or kill both members of the opposing team will be declared the winner. There is no time limit.
Write ups for both teams:
Team "Psychic Monsters" - Nicol Bolas and Mewtwo
How might they be if they ever met up? After the end of the Totally-can't-think-of-a-good-name war, Nicol Bolas was finnally defeated by a group of Little Girls and their over-protective moms. "Back to the drawing board then" he thinks as he planes-walks to his hidden base on an unknown world, as he's sitting on the couch he turns to the multi-verse news, where he sees this magnificant creature, with remarkable Psychic powers much like his own. After much studying on this creature he comes to find out it's name, Mewtwo. and he knows what must be done. He build up all of his mental strength to P-walk to this new location he's never been to, after preparing for what, he doesn't know he's off.
On this new world he sees remarkable things, little rats shooting electricity, wingless dragons breathing fire, even a giant turtle shooting water. But not what he was looking for. It is said that what/who he is looking for is very rare and hard to find. After years of searching he finally come to the place of it's home. A lone island in the middle of a giant sea. When he knocks on the door there is no answer, just this little camera atop the door looking at him. He finally gets angry after a few tries and blasts his way through the door. When he steps through the smoky ruins of the frame he is hit by some kind of energy blast, and he can feel someone trying to infiltrate his thoughts. "Who is this, some powerful blue planeswalker?" He yelled through the smoke. "No, it is I, the most powerful of pokemon" says the voice, but not out loud, in his head. "What do you want with me?" said the voice. "I would ask for a partnership" says Bolas in his head to the voice. "One with great power beyond your wildest imagination." a slight pause. "What kind of power?" says the voice, while the smoke is all but settled steps out this creature Bolas has been seeking. "Power to rule the muti-verse" and the creature looked confused. "What is this 'Multi-verse'' it asks. "Agree to help me and I shall Show you" Replied Bolas.
"Okay" Said the creature, "I am Mewtwo" So the two talked for hours and hours exchanging information and explaining the different world. Bolas explained about planeswalking, and being a walker, and the multi-verse, while Mewtwo explained about his world and how humans catch "pokemon". Then they form a partnership to take over the Multi-verse. But as they go to planeswalk away, something goes amiss and they are abruptly thrown into this arena. Where high above their head there seems to be a poll going, and they feel like all of their powers have been drained. but as the poll goes up for their side they start regaining their powers, and some mystical force beyond anything they can do is putting them up against these strange enemies that they've never seen before. What will happen if they win?
Team "Crazy Supernatural Killers" - Dante (Devil May Cry) and Bayonetta
Dante is a half devil, half angel who kills demons, while Bayonetta is a half witch, half angel who kills angels. They both meet up and immediately end up in bed. After Dante gets violated in every way conceivable and ending up a sobbing mess, they team up. Both carry twin pistols, both has a laundry list of weird weapons, both have problems with their dad (both also have smashed their dads), both created by the same person, things get absolutely CRAAZY!!! when either of them is around. Infact its a travesty that this crossover hasn't happened yet in canon.
How do I vote for the team I like? Well, I'm glad you asked...
This tournament uses a “Dual-Voting System” in which every user on MTGS may vote twice, once on the poll of the thread, and once by posting on the thread itself (by explicitly stating “I vote for team *insert name* because *insert reason*” in a post on the thread). You may spread these votes as you wish (you can vote anonymously on the poll for one team, but express your vote publicly through a post for another), or use them both to vote for the same team, or only vote once (using either method). In the end, the total of both "poll" and "post" votes will be used to determine a winner. In the event of a tie between total votes, the team with the most votes posted publicly on the thread itself shall be declared the winner, and move on to the next round. You only have one week to vote (two weeks for the semi-finals and finals), and the poll automatically closes on Sunday, 12MN (GMT +1). Only posts that occur before that time will be counted as valid votes.

I participate yearly in a survival challenge in which I am dropped off in the wilderness with 1 days rations, a knife, and no other supplies, and have to find my way home. This is typically several weeks hiking from civilization.
I have personally killed several bears in the course of this challenge, with the use of snares and other traps.
So Bolas hides in the middle until he becomes an oldwalker again and wins the tourney!
Oh yeah... this is actually quite funny.
It would be like the final boss of a DMC or Bayonetta game that consists of three phases:
Mewtwo stalls Dante and Bayonetta while Bolas tries to attain godhood. (Phase 1)
After taking down Mewtwo, they take on Bolas in Neo-Walker Form. (Phase 2)
Just before Bolas is defeated, he regains his Oldwalker powers and the resulting Conflux leads to the game's climax (Phase 3), with either Dante or Bayonetta blasting him to the Blind Eternities or Bolas winning the whole shebang, leading to a Game Over screen for our two killers.
Can Dante and Bayonetta stop Bolas and Mewtwo from becoming the most powerful beings in the universe?
On a side note, the matches will take 9 days, instead of the usual one week. Two weeks was too long (as evidenced by previous matches), but I think the bonus two days should be enough for everyone to properly debate these matches.

I was pretty much just joking when I said that but now that I think about it, It's perfectly in character for him to try now that he gets a second chance. lol

I'm pretty sure that during the prep time, Dante and Bayonetta will be clued in on the "Alara fiasco" (I'm looking at you, Ajani Vengeant) and once they realize that they're fighting on a terrain where Bolas is inches of his former powers... well, I suppose it becomes a matter on if they can stop him or not.
I don't think this will be an auto-win for either team, not by a long shot, but there are interesting cases to be made here, yes indeed.

Mewtwo isn't that bad off here. This isn't the Blind Eternities, just a really dangerous place. His defensive bubble ought to keep the elements from getting to him. Bolas is totally at home here.
Actually, that picture makes it look like the terrain is just floating clumps. If so, Mewtwo could literally control the arena with his mind.
That said, Dante and Bayonetta are absurdly powerful.
I think the Psychic monsters could take it, but I'm not certain.
The Maelstrom of all places, sometimes I wonder if things are as random as you say they are poring ;). Anyway, the irony once again aside....
This is quite literally a race against time for the CSK team. If bolas is given enough time, he will regain his old powers and utterly destroy the other team. Mewtwo as well, should be fine here, he has protections he can use to do just fine, and potentially manipulate the area itself against the opponants. As others have mentioned, this is going to be a strategyfest between the two teams. PM's goal is to have bolas regain his oldwalker status and utterly destroy the other team, while the other team's goal is to ... well ... stop that from happening so they at least have a chance against PM.
I believe that bolas and mewtwo would be able to come up with enough strategic stalling tactics within their prep time to be able to give bolas the time to be able to regain his former power, though it will be close. I do see mewtwo being a primary distraction and probably dieing in the attempt (taking one for the team ). As able to deal with the maelstrom as CSK might me, Bolas is at home as much here as anywhere, and that gives him homefield advantage, that advantage, combined with the prep time, and the inevitability that if given the time, he will regain his former power, I just think, even with strategy to try to stop it, will be too much for CSK to be able to accomplish, and will have Bolas and team Psychic Monsters reigning supreme for the TOU when all is said and done.
Obviously Dante and Bayonetta are aware of how strict their time limit is before it becomes a hopeless battle. I think it would come down to whether or not Team CSK can burst enough power to finish off Bolas right away, despite distractions from Mewtwo. If they both went into their uber modes right away and focused Bolas, I think they'd have a shot at removing him as a threat before things got too bad.
Now, I'm not saying Mewtwo isn't mad powerful and wouldn't be able to provide a solid resistance to try to keep Bolas safe for a little, but he's [i]very[/c] vulnerable to attacks. He's been shown as getting pretty beat up by laser blasts from little floaty robots (source:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fONO4Y8_p4c around the 15 minute mark), so I think a little work from Team CSK could actually make pretty short work of the guy. He's not used to opponents whose power are on the level of CSK and Bolas, in this fight he's really a small fry. Their supernatural speed is another thing he just can't hope to keep up with; he may be very smart and have amazing psychic powers, but overall his physical attributes are really nothing special.
I have to give my vote to Team Supernatural Killers because I think Mewtwo is just too outmatched by them and wouldn't be able to provide Bolas with the necessary support to give him ample time to reach his full potential.

The Maelstrom of all places, sometimes I wonder if things are as random as you say they are poring
You know, if there's anything that this tournament has taught me, it's that, given a sufficiently high enough number of random variables and draws, a good chunk of them are going to appear serendipitous. It's one of those "real life is stranger than fiction" things where fateful coincidences happen all the time in real life, but no one would believe it if it was written as a work of fiction.
Example: Japan got hit by an earthquake, a tsunami, and a nuclear disaster, all within a very short time span, in recent history. The chances of any one of them happening separately are highly unlikely, and all three happening would be next to impossible, but hey, it happened. If one willed hard enough, they'd be able to convince themselves that it wasn't coincidence though, because it doesn't seem random enough, when it actually is. Yet if someone were to write a fictional story about three coinciding disasters of immense magnitude occuring to one of the world's most advanced societies, it would simply be too unbelievable for most readers to swallow.
Similarly, by virtue of random terrains, I'm sure that the following justifications come up in the heads of some people. Given random team A, random team B and random terrain X, the following can happen:
"Terrain X favors team A, so it must be rigged so team B loses!"
"Terrain X favors team B, so it must be rigged so team A loses!"
"Terrain X favors both teams, so it must be rigged to make the match exciting!"
"Terrain X favors neither team, so it must be rigged to make the match exciting!"
... and so on. I just can't win. It turns out anyone can look for any "justification" for any eventuality, so I guess I'll just ride with it. I'm not complaining.
Now, back to the matter at hand, let us not forget that Ajani was able to successfully hinder Bolas from attaining godhood in this very terrain, that Dante and Bayonetta will know what happens if they let Mewtwo distract them, and that team CSK has had much experience dealing with beings whose goals are very similar to Bolas (attaining omnipotence through plot contrived circumstances and ruling the universe, etc.). Bayonetta, for example managed to hammer one such deity into the sun, even after gaining world warping powers. I still find that this could be seen as an elaborate boss fight.

Now, back to the matter at hand, let us not forget that Ajani was able to successfully hinder Bolas from attaining godhood in this very terrain
Lets also not forget that Ajani had to supercharge himself with by cutting the mana bonds of the armies of jund and naya and by consuming everything left in the maelstrom to summon the clone that tied with bolas.
His quest for revenge would go unanswered, except that Bolas chose that moment to confront the assembled armies. In front of all the armies of Naya and Jund, Bolas consumed the mana of the Maelstrom, and in a desperate attempt to stop Bolas, Ajani severed everyone's mana bonds and absorbed the last tiny bit of the Maelstrom that Bolas hadn't. Using that power, he called up an effigy of Bolas's soul and used it to banish Bolas from Alara.
Unlike Ajani, Team CSK can't use mana, which ends up nullifying one of the main advantages of the plane. TONS of mana of every color.
Therefore even I feel that even if Bolas doesn't get enough time to ascend, he could still put all that excess mana to good use in defeating his enemies.

Basically...this.
I see this being a really awesome final match for the TOU and was hoping that it would come down to this once FFV got beaten. (I think FFV is pretty much the only team actually more powerful than CSK in this tournament.)
Also, what a suiting arena for the match.
Basically, Bolas is an awesome final boss for the Dante + Bayonetta pairing and, like every final boss, Bolas will be defeated. He may be powerful, he may be a Walker, and he may be a bigass ancient dragon, but I would remind you all of Dante & Bayonetta's tendencies to kill gods and devils, alike. This fight is right up their alley, and awesome, to boot.
(I don't see Mewtwo as much of a factor, here.)

the difference is Bolas is a boss that DOES NOT suffer from conic moron syndrome. I see mewtwo as a factor, a distraction, his strategy is to hit run+heal. He has attacks that NEVER miss. No amount of speed will save you, it ALWAYS hits (and swift in 2v2 battles hits ALL enemys). Bolas is basicly soaked in mana, no charge up time here, he will be spam casting ultimates left right and center with combine mind controls. I vote Psychic monster. The terran gives the win to bolas. just too much raw power.

The real problem with Mewtwo is that he can't TAKE a hit worth a dang (see the video I linked in my last post). It would be extremely easy for CSK to take him out within a minute or two and be able to focus all their damage on Bolas; the two of them in demon/uber witch form are pretty intense, even if they can only do it in bursts. Being able to bring their respective hammers down on Bolas simultaneously would be too much for him.

Bolas can handle quite a lot. He had one of the multiverses most powerful pyromancers fire her most powerful spell directly at his open eyeball and he didn't even blink. With all this extra mana the maelstrom is giving him here, his magical defences will be completely insane.
Aside from that, how do Dante and Bayonetta prevent themselves from being immediately bound by a Web of Restraint?

True, but I think it's arguable that both Dante and Bayonetta are significantly stronger than your standard post-mending walker (the Lorwyn five, at least). My impression of them is that they're powerful mages in their fields, but not at a power level that is unattainable by the most powerful mages on a given plane. That is to say, there are non-walkers who have similar levels of magical powers.
Bayonetta regularly exhibits magical powers beyond what I think regular walkers are capable of and Dante has overcome some pretty extraordinary creatures with relative ease. Alongside that, both bring to the table pretty amazing physical attributes backed up by some insane weaponry. So while maybe either one alone wouldn't be able to handle Bolas easily, the combination of the two after having dealt with Mewtwo easily (I stand by this pretty strongly) would be enough to stop him.
As for the web, I'm not sure what exactly you're referring to.

Haha, oh yeah. Forgot that one's not a real card, only a spell he uses in the novels. It's basically Arrest, though I suppose it might be a blue version.
My question really is, do Bayonetta or Dante have any particular defense against magic or enchantment?
Very interesting match, and good points made by both sides! In fact, I was initially going to vote for psychic monsters, but the arguments here have changed my mind. Due to the fact that Dante and Bayonetta have had experience fighting strong supernatural god-monsters before AND been succesful at it, I have to...
Yes also bayonetta shrugs off magic from far scarier and has time magic and animating her hair magic.
Dante is immune to a lot and also has his own magic sources.
Can you go into more detail? What is Dante immune to? What "far scarier" things did Bayonetta shrug off?
Too bad Bolas doesn't have any hair... but otherwise he's got those same things covered. (Not talking about Clockworking, but regular time magic is surely something he would have access to)
As stated in previous threads, Dante is immune to fire magic that is hot enough to melt absolute zero ice (for example).
He's also taken a lightning sword through the chest and pushed himself up off the ground THROUGH THE HILT OF THE SWORD just because he could - and he was totally fine afterwards.
Dude has a hell of an immunity to ALL kinds of damage, physical and magical.

Actually, that was just a regular sword, not Alastor, it happened a bit before he obtained Alastor...
I think the sword was named Rebellion or something, lol.

Yeah, but we saw it happen first in the opening of the game, when Trish threw Rebellion into Dante's Chest and pinned him to the wall with it... He might not have gone through the hilt, but still, he was impaled...lol

Bayonetta has faced most of the archangels of heaven , most of the demons of hell and their masters the creators of the universe.
Bolas is probably along par with what she faces but mewtwo is just pathetic in comparison.
I see what you mean, but let's be fair to Mewtwo: even after several generations of Pokémon games, his in-game statistics are still comparable to Arceus, the Creator god of Pokémon.
Of course, that doesn't mean his opponents aren't in another tier, but that should also speak volumes of Mewtwo's own abilities.
I see what you mean, but let's be fair to Mewtwo: even after several generations of Pokémon games, his in-game statistics are still comparable to Arceus, the Creator god of Pokémon.

Sorry Poreing as much as I would LOVE to agree with you, Mewtwo is out of his league here he is a distraction at best, Arceus can be captured by a 10 year old..... the GOD of your universe can be captured by a 10 year old let that link in....

One of this week’s matches:
Team "Psychic Monsters" - Nicol Bolas and Mewtwo
vs.
Team "Crazy Supernatural Killers" - Dante (Devil May Cry) and Bayonetta
Fighting in: The Maelstrom (Alara)

How well do you do against one?
But in all seriousness Dante and Bayonetta are probably to stronk for bolas to handle.
Oh yeah... this is actually quite funny.
How well do you do against one?
I'm pretty sure that during the prep time, Dante and Bayonetta will be clued in on the "Alara fiasco" (I'm looking at you, Ajani Vengeant) and once they realize that they're fighting on a terrain where Bolas is inches of his former powers... well, I suppose it becomes a matter on if they can stop him or not.
I don't think this will be an auto-win for either team, not by a long shot, but there are interesting cases to be made here, yes indeed.
How well do you do against one?
Actually, that picture makes it look like the terrain is just floating clumps. If so, Mewtwo could literally control the arena with his mind.
That said, Dante and Bayonetta are absurdly powerful.
I think the Psychic monsters could take it, but I'm not certain.
Vote: Team Psychic Monsters.

How well do you do against one?
Lets also not forget that Ajani had to supercharge himself with by cutting the mana bonds of the armies of jund and naya and by consuming everything left in the maelstrom to summon the clone that tied with bolas.
Vote Team Psychic Monsters
Vote CSK
Regardless of who wins, though, I'm satisfied with this outcome.

the difference is Bolas is a boss that DOES NOT suffer from conic moron syndrome.

Shaping up to be quite a fight here!
How well do you do against one?
Haha, oh yeah. Forgot that one's not a real card, only a spell he uses in the novels. It's basically Arrest, though I suppose it might be a blue version.
My question really is, do Bayonetta or Dante have any particular defense against magic or enchantment?
Vote: Crazy Supernatural Killers
Can you go into more detail? What is Dante immune to? What "far scarier" things did Bayonetta shrug off?
Too bad Bolas doesn't have any hair... but otherwise he's got those same things covered. (Not talking about Clockworking, but regular time magic is surely something he would have access to)
He's also taken a lightning sword through the chest and pushed himself up off the ground THROUGH THE HILT OF THE SWORD just because he could - and he was totally fine afterwards.
