I've been on my computer most of the day today. Then, I watched a couple episodes of mad men on my computer. Afterwards, I started webbrowsing again. My home page, msn.com, wouldn't load properly. It shows the page for a split second and then goes blank, at the bottom it said
"waiting on b.voicefive.com"
and then failed to finish loading, just stayed blank white. I googled 'voicefive' and one of the first things that popped up in the instant-finish was 'voicefive spyware'. Anyone know what this is, how to fix my homepage, and how to get rid of this nuisance? I'm worried to logon to important websites in case it's some sort of phishing program or cookie.
Voicefive is indeed spyware. The good news is, it doesn't do a whole lot of damage to your system like a trojan would or be damn near ****ing impossible to remove like a rootkit.
First thing you should do is run a scan with your anti-malware program. If that doesn't pick it up, then download either Malwarebytes or Superantispyware. Both are free downloads, and both of them should be able to scan and remove Voicefive.
To change your home page back if you're using Firefox, just go under Tools -> Options. Hit the "General" tab and you'll find where you can change your home page back.
For IE, go to Tools -> Internet Options, and then you'll find the window to change your home page right there.
Well I ran Norton last night before I went to bed, and this morning my homepage seemed to work fine, without the voicefive thing. I assume Norton removed it.
