My comp has been rebooting itself randomly for the past little while. I had this problem before and it eventually led up to the comp refusing to start at all, and hundreds of dollars in computer repairs. It turned out to be a failing hard drive, which was replaced.
But anyhow, it has begun rebooting itself again occasionally, and I'd like to know what I'm up against here, anyone have any ideas? The power supply and vid card run fine, they were checked last time too. Also one other thing to note: Everytime it crashes it sets my desktop clock back an hour, not sure why.
I don't really understand the "resource" special type in PHP. Specifically, does PHP pass the resource type by value or by reference? For example, let's say I get a resource by calling mysql_query() and then pass it to a function:
$result = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM table");
process($result);
So $result is my resource. When process() gets it, is it going to copy all the results from my query, or will it (hopefully) just get a pointer to the external data?
I have a D-Link DWL-G520 wireless card, version B2 (and FW: 3.1.6). My router is Linksys WRT54G ver. 6. My computer (other one) detects new Ethernet Controller hardware, but needs, I think, a driver to make it work(?). I don't know if any CD came with the card. How do I set it up?
Edit: I installed the driver but I can't seem to connect.
Edit2: I'm making progress and I think I'm close. It looks like it's kind of connected, but can't connect. And the speed keeps fluctuating between 54 and 108 mbps. It says it can't configure the network.
Edit3: Ok, I've got it connected, but it seems stuck on acquiring network address.
Also, on the subject of PPoint... If I have sound clips on a presentation, do the sound files have to be located somewhere on the computer that is playing the presentation or are they saved onto the presentation file itself.
The reason I ask this is because I did a project yesterday and had some awesome sound clips incorporated into it. Then I took the presentation home and went to watch it, but there were no sounds...
If anyone could help before Friday, that would be awesome. Thanks.
Ryan.
When you import the sound clip into PPT, it just accesses it from the location you specify. So if your sound clips are located in c:\clips, that's where PPT is going to look for them. If the computer you're running the presentation on does not have this folder, the clips will not play.
The best thing to do to take the presentation with you is take the .ppt file and all the multimedia clips with you on a flash drive. Then dump all of that onto the PC you'll be using to run the presentation. Setup the same folder to hold everything that you had originally. If you can't, then leave the clips on you flash drive and edit your presentation with the new file locations of your clips.
Edit: Derf, I didn't see the date you made your post. This is probably too late to help you.
So do you think that my current ones are now good? or You can suggest me with better ones?? Thanks
I use Spybot and Ad-Aware.
I have disabled my IE and Im using Firefox 2. Another question. I have heard this "Opera" web browser. Which is better? Firefox or this Opera?
I don't have much experience with Opera. I'm pretty happy with Firefox myself.

This is very frequently either the motherboard or power supply. If the power supply has already checked out, I'd look very closely at the motherboard for any signs of physical damage. Leaking capacitors (small cylinders standing up from the motherboard) are a dead giveaway of overheating causing system failure.

About 2 months ago, i built a mostly new computer.
New CPU, CPU fan, Rear fan, Motherboard, and RAM.
I used my old Video card, Hard drives, CD/DVD roms, and Power supply. (less then a year old).
Now, last night, i left my computer on, and at some point, it died. I woke up this morning, went to turn it on, and it simply wont start. If i flick the power supply switch on the back, the fan will spin for a very brief moment, then stop.
Now, ive made sure the ram was secured, redid the CPU-fan sealant, and made sure all the jacks were securely plugged. Yet, it still wont get far at all, occasionally getting far enough to boot up the entirety of windows (including my startup programs) but only to die just after they finish booting up.
Few notes of import:
1. The less objects plugged in, the farther the boot process gets.
2. the only way to even try to turn it on is to turn off the power supply in its entirety (The kill switch on the back), turn it back on, and then attempt to boot the computer. It still dies at some point.
3. It was fine as of midnight last night; and we're having fairly high tempatures at the moment. (30* celsius and higher) with fairly high humidity.
Im left with 3 possibilities.
1. Dead Powersupply. It is the oldest component of my computer, and would explain everything above.
2. Dead CPU. One of the newest parts. Also explains most of it, tho i don't feel its the answer.
3. Dead Motherboard. Also one of the newest parts. Again, i really dont think its this.

The motherboard doesn't like what it's getting from the power supply and is shutting it off. This is almost definitely a bad power supply.

Problem 2
Whenever I shut down my computer (both before and after problem 1), it says it's trying to end an application called ccapp.exe, and I usually have to click on "end now" to get rid of it. Does anyone know how I can purge this program from my computer, as I can't find where it's installed.
Search your hard drive and find out what folder ccapp.exe lives in. It could be part of Norton Antivirus. It could also be a spyware program that uses the same name. If you don't have Norton installed or it's in a folder other than Norton's, delete the .exe.

Hey all... I'm retired, not dead. Check out what I'm doing these days (and beg me to come back if you want):
This propably has nothing to do with a virus or anything like that, but it's still annoying and i dont know how to fix it.
(I ran Ad-Aware search and Norton Antivirus)
But whenever i press control, it opens up Firefox on Google (It's page that normally shows up on firefox startup), even if there was another program running AND only on left control... Also, whenever i press alt computer goes to sleep mode, and alt Gr and it opens up calculator.. It's annoying as hell and i dont know how to get rid of it. Those programs dont have hotkeys set to them.. None of my programs does actually.

After doing a search, I found it in C:\WINDOWS\Temp\NIS9.1.33\Support\ccCommon\ccCommon, where it appears to be a "Symantec User Session", whatever that it. How can I get it to shut down of it's own volition?
The only thing I can think of is to boot in safe mode or command-prompt-only (or even boot a Linux live CD) and delete the file while the process isn't running. Spyware processes typically don't shut down, either of their own volition or otherwise by way of Windows Task Manager.

Anyone who could help me clear a virus at the operating memory, my Nod32 says that if it would clean the virus, I should reboot, but still Nod is having a hard time removing it after I reboot, Nod will say it will clean it after restart, but still the virus is there..Ive been restarting like forever.
Here is the detail about the Virus in my operating memory.
Module: Kernel
Name: C:\Windows\System32\mlgg.dll
Threat: probably a variant of Win32/Adware.Virtumonde.O Application

Virtumonde is a pain in the rear. Most Virus/Spyware/Adware removal programs just can't get it. You'll have to use a special utility to remove it.

Help...looking for a cd-rom drive for an old Compaq Armada e500, but latest search shows only $97.00 replacement part from HP Parts store...I paid only $75 for the entire laptop but it came without a CD drive. Don't want an external drive because it is very difficult to carry around to and from tournaments and venues. Newegg, Buy.com and Radio shack don't seem to have anything like this, it's too old.
Do a search on eBay for "Compaq Multibay DVD". These should be compatible with your model; check the description on each item.
Thanks, man. Do you happen to know generally how the Multibay things are installed? I've seen a few hints that you just slide the drive in place in the bay and it clicks into place; I've also seen hints to the contrary, that you need to have add'l cables, mountings, rails, panel covers, etc.
The bay in our cheap bargain laptop seems to be "bare" i.e. have no cables or fittings visible. however the model number appears to be compatible with the drives I'm seeing with the ebay search you specified. Any ideas?
I don't have a lot of experience with that model of laptop so I can't help on any specifics of installation besides what you'd be able to find on HP's site.
