Last month a met a nice guy, let's call him Matt. He is energetic, sociable and responsible, a guy you can depend on. He's a successful consultant for a web design company. So you can imagine my surprise when he told me that for 5 years, he was homeless. He told me a lot about his ordeal, eating from trash cans, trying to find sleep through cold, despair and the constant fear of being attacked, robbed or being told by police to go away.
As I listened to his story, it made me very grateful for my own life. It also made me realise that, if I had been in his position, I would have been a lot worse off. I wouldn't have the first idea what to do.
So for today's theoratical question : What would you do if you suddenly became homeless? (for argument's sake, let's pretend you can't call on friends and family for help, you're on your own)

It is always easy to be tolerant and understanding...Until someone presents an opinion completely opposite to your own.
Go to the wild, hunt, and eat what nature offers. That's what we ALL should do in that case. I might die of hunger for lack of survival skills (past experience says I won't anyway), but at least I'd die with dignity. I really see no other option, it's simple.
I would look for a homeless shelter to live in. I would explore all of the avenues of government assistance available to me. I would look for ANY job that I could find. Once I get a minimum wage job, I would start looking for a better job but not quit my current one until I find one.
but it was done by one couple that was bragging. That is most likely the top of the top, and it's still 30% off your number. I highly doubt you can make that much normally.
I worked in the media for several years, I've been a staff magazine writer and worked on several TV shows, as well as lots of freelance work. I know P.R. when I see it. If you watch those reports about panhandlers making a lot of money, you'll notice that the reporter never goes out and replicates the feat to prove it, because they can't.
I would also attempt to use government services. However, I've done some volunteering for the homeless, and one big problem is that without a permanent residence, you can't get an ID or renew the one you have. No ID means you can't receive services, else government assistance would be rife with fraud. So if you're homeless with no ID, you're kind of stuck in this chicken and egg situation.
Ah, I remember hearing on a show(Manswers, btw.) that one lady made over $120,000 in a year. Then again, she moved around a lot, had a great sob story, and I'm guessing she was lucky.
But usually you can make around $10,000/year, as long as you look horrible and have a good story.

That show is one of the most ridiculous things I've ever seen. I swear they just make up half of the crap on there and just get actors to say it. Manswers should in no way be considered a reputable source.

I have been playing Magic since 1994. I will NEVER use the terms 'battlefield', 'cast' or 'exile'. They will always be 'in play', 'play' and 'remove from game' to me. If you don't like it, too bad.
3 things religion does well: control people, delude people, divide people.
I'd panhandle, first of all. I would probably also get into a homeless shelter, and find a scource of food, like a garbage dumpster/place where people are really sypathetic. I'd probably end up being like that for the rest of my life or worse.
However, in today's culture of Justin Bieber, Jersey Shore, and Twilight, where every song on the radio, every program on television and every site on the internet is just another monument to the pinnacle of human stupidity, it's certainly not the worst thing that people could be watching.
I would try panhandling first and if that doesn't work I'd probably commit a violent crime out of insanity or desperation and land myself in the food, shelter, and healthcare benefits of the prison system. It'd probably have to be a federal offense...
The obvious answer would be that I'd use the fact that I have a college education in very marketable subjects to get a job and rent an apartment. Since I'm lucky enough to have a significant advantage over many people who end up homeless in that I do have a solid education, work experience, etc., am not struggling with addiction, and am not faced with any serious mental or physical illness, I think I could resolve the situation pretty quickly and easily. I don't say that to rag on homeless people, but I think we need to understand here that homeless people are often faced with more serious obstacles than simply lacking a home.

Have you actually checked the facts on it? I have, and they're very reputable. It's like "1000 Ways to Die", it may seem strange, but it's true.
I have been suddenly homeless many times in my life, and had no family so, yeah it was just me.
It's not as bad as you think, I actually thrive in the situation, well more then being a family man.
The pure freedom is nutz, and the chaos that swirls around is utter peaceful.
The first time I was homeless was when I turned 18, I was released from Foster Care and had no where to go. So I hung out with friends by day, and either slept in ally ways, abandon buildings, garages, or occasionally I had to break in to cars (I never stoled anything, I just need a place out of the weather)
For food, I would hit up restaurants, after closing.
Then I went to collage, after a while I got booted out (because my grants didn't get sent in) and was homeless on the streets of Pittsburgh. There I am not proud of what I did but the human mind will allow you to do anything in the name of survival.
There has been other times but those 2 were probably the worst. Some days I find my self wishing for those days again.........
It's understandable blue control players would be shocked and in denial at the notion of this card, since their decks have been dominating multiple formats for an eternity yet they've curiously never once had to deal with any counter-hosers that weren't ineffectual, narrow CRAP.
Play my trumpet along the streets, hunt with my bow, make a knife, eat roots, make a small shelter. Being female, I could cry along the streets and probably make money

Walk down to a place with a payphone, call a friend with what little change I have left, and live with them until I could get back on my feet. It's good to know that I have people who would give there lives to see me smile.

I like 4/4s for 7.
Do you have a source for that? I've done a little Googling and most statistics are hourly or monthly, and those numbers were typically peak rates. The closest to your number I found was here

This blog, albeit an unverifiable source, sounds very reasonable:

Read the original post. THis is assuming you cant call on friends or family for help.
