I'm actually surpirsed I haven't seen any threads like this already. Basically, this is a thread for sharing stories of your Magic newbness, or other's Magic newbness.
I was that newb who didn't get why everyone thought Umezawa's Jitte was so powerful. I mean, I guess the pump is good, but give me Loxodon Warhammer over it anyday.
I was that newb who thought 1 Wall of Spears would be good in my B/G fattie deck because one of my friends played a Voracious Cobra in his deck.
I was that newb who didn't get why Meloku was so good. I mean, come on! You have to return a land to your hand for a 1/1 token! That's SO weak!
I was that newb who belived that 5-color Sliver Tribal was the best deck in Magic for some reason.
Ok, now it's YOUR turn. Share with us amusing stories of your newbness, or newbness of others.
EDIT: Woohoo, post number 10!

Kudos to Mr. Stuff for the adorable drummer avvy.
Kudos to Sephiroth Owa for the random banner. Tell me, ARE there similarities?
You see, part of what makes playing Magic so special is figuring out the good R&D decisions from the bad ones. If they were all good, it would take away an important element of the game: complaining about Magic on the Internet. - Mark Rosewater
I was that n00b whose first deck was a 5 color deck with Force of Nature in it. I mean, it is an 8/8 Trample!!1! It also had Sengir Vampire and other janky combos like Lifeforce and Sleight of Mind. now thats Tech!!
(granted the deck was full of dual lands, but still...)

I am looking for Date Stamped promos from Khans of Tarkir block so I can finish my set. Check my wants if you have any.
Currently offering 2 non-foil Kolighan's Command for a Date Stamped foil!
I was that newb who thought that Dark Confidant was a bad card. I mean, one 2-mana card revealed, and you lose one-tenth of your life!

I was the noob who thought Devouring Greed was savage tech.
I was the noob who let herself be Scepter Chanted even though I had a handful of counterspells.
I was the noob, that in the same match, Cranially Extracted for the Scepter instead of her opp's one win condition (Psychatog)
I was the noob who thought Vampiric Tutor sucked.
And lastly, I once was the noob who said she'd die before she ever played Death Cloud.:-/
When Mirrodin block rotated, I had finally gotten over the hatred of sacrificing my own stuff...played Mono Black Cloud...then it went away..and I've hated type 2 ever since. Go figure.
And yes, no incantatrix for you. Or anyone. That class makes puppies cry. Mostly because they are the former Big Bads who have been Baleful Polymorphed into said puppies. By you. Because you're an incantatrix.

Yeah, I don't see her handling a pissing match in any way other than a duel.

I suppose it's true. Though the logistics implied in a human/Great Wyrm Prismatic Dragon pairing makes me shudder.
...Something tells me that even should all arcane casters in the world unite, that the Grease spell would NOT be sufficient.
I was the Noob who moved to a town where all they play is bad vintage and after I finnaly broke down and traded my jittes and Rav Duals and other t2 staples discovered they suddenly decided to switch to Standard.
I was the noob who thought "Add one to your mana pool" meant I could put a Mountain from my hand into play. This was six years ago, and coincidentally, I saw another kid think that only a couple months ago. It was pure nostalgia.

Tis the golden days.
I was that noob that thought walls were the greatest thing in the world..
I was that newb who thought converted mana cost was the amount of colorless mana a spell costed. So, I thought I could only fetch stuff with at least 6 in its manacost with Fierce Empath (yes, I played that card. I was a noob back then). Once I figured out that CMC was the total amount of mana it took to play, I thought "Wow! Fierce Empath is awesome. I can fetch a Wirewood Guardian with him, and then play it!". I was a newb back then, ok?

I thought indestructible meant that if I sacrificed it, it stayed in play. That did stupid things with Ravager..........till I figured out it didn't work like that.
I also thought Ravager sucked because you had to sac your board to make him good. I thought it a VERY BAD THING to ever lose life or sacrifice stuff.
Obviously I have changed my mind. What does black do, guys?:D

I think every newb went through that "But... if you lose life, you're that much closer to losing. And saccing stuff means I can't kill my opponent anymore!" phase. Also, this is the phase where you play bad lifegain cards because... well... the more life you have, the longer you take to kill.

I was the n00b that said "Who wants this black creature that deals a point of damage to you every turn?" and then traded away my worthless Juzan Djinn for something the likes of a Keldon Warlord.
I was the noob that thought chronicles cards as arabian night ones
I was the noob who thought tidings and other expensive card draw was good in aggro because you could draw new creatures.
I was the noob that said: "Wtf card advantage for mana lol that sucks" and traded my Chrome mox for something crap

Man, aren't I glad I've come a long way since Tempest was released...
I was the newb that played Serra Avatar in a WB deck that paid life for big creatures.
Actually.... i dodged a lot of common pitholes.
Oh, i remember:
I was the newb that scoffed at burn, because it did only damage once... pstah, only once? Thats laik, totally too little.
