I started losing my hair in university, so I started shaving it. I saved a lot of money on hair care products and being my own barber in the last 15 years.
Now that I'm older, I wear the the horseshoe style around the outside with my whispies on the top. My wife like its, she think I look like an owl... I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
The only crappy part about being bald is I get really cold and wear hats more to retain heat.
Can be a result of medication (possible) or poor nutrition (unlikely in the developed world).
But it's mostly a matter of hormones. If your scalp's particularly DHT-sensitive, you will lose hair earlier.

Card advantage is not the same thing as card draw. Something for 2B cannot be strictly worse than something for BBB or 3BB. If you're taking out Swords to Plowshares for Plummet, you're a fool. Stop doing these things!
Asians tend to bald slower than caucasians (grey slower as well). There's been at least one book written speculating that baldness is increasing in asia as western diets are being adopted. It's specious and I dont think theres any evidence for it but you never know.
Incidentally soy isoflavones have shown some potential versus balding and soy is higher component of certain asian traditional diets. Equol, a metabolite of one of the soy isoflavones is the only compound (aside from your bodies own androgen binding proteins) known to bind to DHT itself. Reputable scientists have speculated that it might have use in treating androgen mediated conditions including MPB. Its currently being tested against for its use in treating prostatic hyperplasia (all the current drugs used vs mpb are prostate treatments as well, so this is highly suggestive). Teas are also a high component of asian diet. In animals teas also are 5 alpha reductase inhibitors and have lowered the DHT of rodents. In humans I dont think it has the same effect but it also has never been tested in humans so we dont know for certain.
Honestly, keeping hair buzzed short while slightly balding looks really nice (providing the rest of you looks decent as well). Short, trimmed hair with a receding hair line to some people can look better than a full head of hair.
Also, take heart because it means you got a lot of testosterone. My hair has been slowly making its' way back (happened during the recession, great irony as my hair is nor recession proof) and many women (especially as you hit 24+) really like their men looking like, well, men.

"Professional buzz cuts" are in vogue. I tend to go straight to the skin, there's newer razors that make it easy to shave your own head. It also helps to keep the goofy uneveness out of the balding process.

I hear this a lot, but I don't buy it. A full head of hair looks better than balding. Now a hair cut designed to hide the balding process may look worse than balding, I'd grant that. It depends on the level of balding. The worse the balding, the better it looks cut shorter.
Also, take heart because it means you got a lot of testosterone. My hair has been slowly making its' way back (happened during the recession, great irony as my hair is nor recession proof) and many women (especially as you hit 24+) really like their men looking like, well, men.
The testosterone part is a myth.
All balding really means is your hair has a genetic susceptibility to being miniaturized when exposed to dihydrotestosterone. Pretty much is the androgen sensitivity of your scalp, not the levels of androgens themselves that are the issue. But since we don't know how to reduce the androgen receptor density or their sensitivity to androgens all we can currently do is play with the androgens. Of course there are non antiandrogenic treatments as well but they work downstream from the binding of DHT to the AR.
Testosterone itself is negligible in the effect tho it may have a mild negative effect. But probably less than negligible because no genetically deficient in 5aR pseudoherm ever went bald due to testosterone itself which they have present in their bodies.
There are some nebulous relations between balding and other diseases, but we don't the causality. It is likely there is a third genetic factor influencing both. The balding and heart disease connection was known as back as the 1960s. So it could useful in screening out risk to other diseases.
The only crappy part about being bald is I get really cold and wear hats more to retain heat.
Oh god dont' tell me that, I might be losing my hair and my biggest concern is freezing to death. I get cold super easily (love hot weather, heat doesn't' bother me till it breaks 100) and don't want to put up with that.
Amazing how this thread is still near the top. I think my hair has grown back, or at least I've made peace with what I have left. It could be because I am under less stress now that I graduated. I use to have grey hairs in my beard but those are all gone now.
Oh god dont' tell me that, I might be losing my hair and my biggest concern is freezing to death. I get cold super easily (love hot weather, heat doesn't' bother me till it breaks 100) and don't want to put up with that.
So use a proven treatment and drastically slow the process or stop it.
Finasteride as I understand it will definitely protect what you've got left, and might even stimulate regrowth of some areas as long as it's not too late. Basically, it takes a while for the hair to go away permanently, so with proper stimulation, the follicle can be caused to start growing again. Don't expect miracles, but it's not a lost cause if you get to it early enough. If all else fails, something like cyproterone acetate will definitely do it as long as you don't mind osteoporosis later on as well as potential liver problems (edit: since I'm not sure if it was 100% clear or not, me "recommending" Androcur there is just me being facetious, although the rest of my post is serious).
This. Finasteride works. I was losing my hair rapidly when I was 27-28 ish before I started taking Propecia regularly. My hair has now grown back and it looks the way it used to.
It costs me about 50 USD per month but I have no regrets paying for it. I'd hate to be bald.
I can't believe anyone is excited about this card. It is absolutely unplayable. I wouldn't even play her in LIMITED. Easily the worst walker printed since the green elf one. Absolutely terrible.
My hairline slightly receded in the front when I turned 19.

generic proscar and then cut it into 5ths!
something 2 dollars a month that way. lol
but yeah, finasteride is the first real treatment in that it works indefinitely in the majority of men. and even if you slowly lose, by then there will be better things.
right now another good adjunct is platelet rich plasma + ACell. people are calling BS because they are doing some remarkable things with it and some of the investigators themselves are having a hard time believing it, but I've read some of the papers in peer reviewed publications, and it's real. it allows a form of hair regeneration or "pseudocloning". the full details arent known but they suspect the suspension of the acell is providing a scaffold and some way recruiting stem cells to become progenitor cells which then reconstitute the hair follicle. acell has been use to regrow destroyed muscle tissue in combat vets, regrows parts of ears, and fingertips, so why not hair? there are a lot of converging avenues of research providing support here. some of the applications have been as stand alone injections, as regrowing hair in old transplant scar tissue, and as soaking the to be transplanted hair in the solution and increasing the yields on the transplant. very exciting treatment.
for supplements the usual touted ones are: soy isoflavones+capsaicin, biotin, vitamin D (vit D receptor was found in hair follicles), vitamin A (dowregulate the androgen receptor), B vitamins, MSM, soy isoflavones, green tea extract, tocotrinols
yeah for each one you can find some support for it, but usually its just an obscure unrepeated experiment or an in vitro experiment demonstrated something in the testtube. vitamins basically support hair growth but do not counter pathologies of the hair unless its due to malnourishment.
i also read a paper showing gelatin was good in high dose, but all the refs were old and obscure and not available online.
but yeah some ppl report improvement in their hair quality by taking the right vitamins.
Im only 21 also a few months from 22 and a couple weeks ago my hair started falling out it's more of a receding hairline but now I have an even bigger V idk if it has to do with a cortical steroid I started taking but didn't completely finish taking it? I only took it for 3 days and stopped it was for a sprained ankle and crooked knee cap. Any advice?
I started losing my hair around 22, about a year after I finished college I just started shaving it and still do (honestly really prefer it this way since I hated dealing with my hair in the first place).
However, when it does happen that young there is a good question to ask. Have you had your Thyroid tested? This is an issue that runs in my family and although it did not apply to me, I did have it checked (simple blood test). An under active Thyroid can cause a number of symptoms such as fatigue, weight gain and commonly hair loss.

My younger brother went completely bald by 21. He has shaved his head with a BIC since. I shave my head once a week and even though I'm the older brother I still have more hair. I have a widows peak and a cow lick on top of my head. I don't think it has much to do with diet. My brother is active military to a special unit where he eats properly and exercises regularly and has been doing it for 10 years now. I work out 3-5 days a week and watch my diet closely with proper nutrients and supplements to make gains in the gym and my hair is still falling out. I don't smoke and mainly just drink beer on the weekends. A men's head of hair is like playing poker. It's completely random and you can apply certain things to it to better your chances of it not falling out like a better hand. Or you can be completely bluffing with a come over.
To me nothing looks cleaner and as smooth as a fresh cut with no guard on the clippers. I run into people all the time who make comments like "I feel sorry for you" that you're losing your hair. I don't feel bad at all and neither should anyone else. I feel sorry for the guy that feels sorry for himself because his hair is falling out. It isn't the end of the world and you open yourself up to a whole new category of women who like it.
I'm losing my hair and I don't know what to do about it! My dad is 51 and he basically has all of his hair. I'm not exactly a healthy eater but its not like I just eat crap all the time. It'd be a lot better if I was going grey instead.
Can't not to agree with the previous responses, even if this topic is old! Such hair loss in young age is a common problem among men and yeah that can happen even in the younger age...:frown: Sadly almost nothing can be done with that, the only thing which can really help is the hair transplantation but even this thing doesn't work in every case, one of my friends faced such result
I think that the best decision is to try rogaine and green tea juice, maybe that'll help to stop the process or at least restore some amount of your hair...Also you can try to change your hair cut in order to cover up the thinning hairline, there are can be some nice decisions for this, like on these pics http://machohairstyles.com/best-hairstyles-for-balding-men/ for example
