So last week I bought an engagement ring for my girlfriend. She has no idea and I'm going to propose on July 15th while we watch the sunrise at the volcano crater in Maui, Hawaii.
I've been a nervous wreck since getting it though. I stay up late and can't really sleep at all.
What should I do to get my mind off of things until the 15th?
Wow that sounds really nice. Having your tried reading a book? One so nice you can really get lost in it while listening to some relaxing music? Ummm why are you nervous? You know she's gonna say yes, then jump and down screaming, then a really really long kiss from one of those romantic comedies. And if there are people around they will cheer and congratulate you.
That's probably it. Are you worried about whether or not she'll say yes? I'm sure she probably will, but that could be a cause for anxiety.

I know she's going to say yes, we've talked about marriage and have all our plans set. It's just the fact that I'm finally going to propose that's keeping me up.
Oh then it's more of a feeling of excitement right? The term nervous set me on the wrong track. The only thing I can recommend then is to find a hobby or something to keep your mind occupied.

What should I do to get my mind off of things until the 15th?
Two words: work out.
This is good for several reasons:
1. It provides you an outlet to release your emotions and provide mental clarity.
2. It makes you sleep better and feel better about yourself.
3. Having a REALLY nice set of abs won't hurt your cause.
Or you could take up drinking like I did. Not the best option, but hell, it works. And congratulations on popping the question. A better suggestion is to either work out, or, I dunno, read... A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man. That will put you to sleep in no time.
Just don't sleep, like seriously don't sleep, then you will faint from exhaustion (I did once) and take a nice long sleep, took me 3 days of no sleep to do it.
But to be honest, since you are going to pop the question, I assume you are very close already, so she probably suspects something already.

I proposed to my now fiance not too long ago and let me tell you that you feel so much better after. Don't worry about and just look forward to it. If you cant just know that its very worth it.
Why do you have to propose at Maui? Why can't you propose today? If you get it off your chest now, then you have the rest of your summer to enjoy. Besides, it's better than you having a nervous breakdown. I'm sure your girlfriend wouldn't like you having bloodshot eyes and twitching during vacation because of your lack of sleep. Personally, I feel that the proposer should have a good idea of the answer he'll get. If you're nervous, maybe it is your subconscious trying to give you a hint. I wish you the best of luck.

Think about it this way: soon you'll have wedding worries, pregnancy worries, kids worries, mortgage worries ... then, you'll actually have valid reasons to lose sleep. Now!? Not so much. Save the insomnia till when it's justified.

When I proposed to my ex-wife-to-be, I was pretty nervous, even though her answer was a forgone conclusion. I was not at all worried about what she'd say, but about what I would; I didn't want to screw it up. I did anyway, and it was no big deal.
As far as working out some anxiety, I find masturbation very relaxing. Unless of course you guys are already having the sex, in which case that might be even better.

This is completely from hearsay, but therapeutic activities, like knitting and yoga, will ease you up a bit; also, aromatherapy and pomegranates are purported to alleviate your situation.
If you haven't been getting much sleep, I would suggest drinking honey in warm water; of course, this mightn't work for you and this is also hearsay.
Thanks for all the advice guys. I've been playing late nights on MWS to get my mind off of things and and watching reruns of Mythbusters. 2 more days and I'll be in Hawaii.
I've been going over our itinerary and making plans during the trip to get my mind off of everything. I went for a 3 mile walk/jog over the weekend and a daily 1 mile walk every afternoon. I sure can use the exercise.
