That actually isn't believable at all. May didn't even tell Coulson about what happened in Bahrain and they're bbf's! Why would she tell Hawkeye, who is clearly not from the same generation of agents, anything at all about an extremely person incident in her life?
I would assume if any reason to tell Hawkeye is because he has his set of personal traumatic events in his life that he could share too. The most recent being him getting his mind controlled by Loki.
Coulson doesn't seem damaged at all, and he and the viewers still don't know what happened after he died.
RDJ has the same sense of "I do what I want" fun as SLJ, so he may actually be a possibility, but I really don't think the show can afford Iron Man effects.
Could possibly bring in RDJ as tech support, no need for a suit. He could steal the focus though because he is...RDJ
A big name would boost the episode he or she would be in with some trickle down to the following episode, but a big name leading to longterm, sustained ratings growth is a crapshoot. Sometimes a big name can save a show from ratings hell or even cancellation (Britney Spears on How I Met Your Mother is a great example of that), sometimes they make a big splash but the show itself can't retain the influx of viewers. I don't think AoS is a strong enough show to retain much if they had an MCU star guest on it. Honestly, the show had massive brand recognition at the outset with huge hype and still couldn't hold everyone's interest. Until the show itself is stronger, having a big name guest star may not lead to sustained growth.
Well what you're saying is absolutely correct, the problem is the show is boring. The majority of the characters are boring when they interact with each other, we've had 10 episodes to see that and it doesn't seem like they're going to change for the better. What you need is throw someone new into the mix to promote the character development. I like that they did that with Mike Peterson and I think that would be a good idea to use in the future episodes and using a big MCU name as the "support" would show the viewers they aren't afraid to embrace the MCU instead of poking it with a ten foot pole
I have seen no indication that Joss is coming back to the show, especially not now that he's tied up in Age of Ultron pre-production. He's still the Marvel Consigliere so he has influence with the show in terms of making all the pieces of the MCU fit cohesively, but he's not writing it. So the only Whedon writing for the show is Jed.
For an episode involving one of the main Avengers, I'd bet an arm and a leg that Whedon would be more involved.
To put it bluntly, if they're going to do some deft writing to shoehorn in an MCU star for a cheap ratings grab, I'd rather they just expend that energy on writing a better show overall, it's probably cheaper and far more sustainable anyway. And considering one of the major criticisms of the show is that they're substituting cute MCU references to string along movie fans rather than build a solid standalone show, I don't see dropping a big star as a guest as a valid way of addressing that.
I think they've gone past the point of no return. Might as well embrace the whole MCU references to try to build a good show.
Things are getting good. The plot is actually moving and there are some great guest spots coming up. I really liked episodes 11 & 12 and feel the characters are finally starting to come alive.
So it appears that they're bringing in more Marvel goodies for us and more so than just a cameo. Sif (Jaimie Alexander) will be featured in episode 15 and play an integral role.
The producers totally came to MTGSalvation board and took my advice. Damn I'm good
Well, it's Lady Sif, a tertiary character with about twenty minutes combined screentime across two movies. Not exactly the level of MCU character you were talking about. But you're right, they're doing exactly the thing I said they shouldn't do: propping the series up on gimmick guest stars and cameos. Which is even more frustrating as the series gets good with the characters and storylines native to it. Like tonight's episode, which was really good and didn't need MCU propping to make it watchable.
I'm still hopeful. They're diving into Asgardian stuff, but I'm kind of glad it's Sif. It might be nice to get more characterization for her other than 'badass jilted Thor love interest'. The fact that they're introducing a ton a MU characters (Deathstroke, Graviton, Blizzard) has me excited.

The whole point of having Marvel's Agents of Shield is that it is part of the Marvel cinematic universe. To have guest stars and cameos from the movies was to be expected, otherwise it wouldn't be Marvel's Agents of Shield, it would be called something generic like the Watchers or something espionage-esque. Treat it like a comic series by DC/Marvel, it has a regular storyline and set of characters but since its within a certain universe, other characters can drop in.
I'm still convinced that they can use the guest stars from the other mediums to aide in development of the storyline and the characters, they have two episodes planned at the moment for that, the Captain America episode and the Sif episode. Since they announced that Sif would be integral to that particular episode, i'm certain they learned a thing or two from the previous crossover episode.

Agree. The recent episodes have been good. I don't mind the idea of some minor characters from the films showing up for a couple episodes if they fit the tone of the show and have an interesting story to tell. It's a way to create more continuity between the TV Show and films, and can flesh out characters in the films that could have used more screen time. As long as the story is actually interesting and it doesn't take away from the show's existing characters, the odd story that focuses on a guest character should be ok.
I do hope they save any "major" potential cameos (ie any of the Avengers) until after the show is stronger and more established though. And you don't want the show to become a "revolving door of guest stars", so it should be kept to small doses. If Cobie Smulders was open to being a semi-regular guest, that could be cool.
Ho-lee crap, Clark Gregg is an amazing actor. His reaction at the end of "T.R.A.C.K.S"... it's a scene we've all seen a gazillion times before, but he just punches you in the gut with it.

Honestly, I hope they don't bring in any of the 'major' characters other than SHIELD Characters. Because if it needs one of the Avengers to solve it, it should probably be a film, don't you think?
I would like to see some cross pollination between the Netflix Series and AoS, however.

How would street level heroes and an international security force interact? Why would they interact? If any crossovers occur I hope they aren't done just to do them. That being said, I really wish Marvel Studios had the rights to Spiderman. It would be a million times cooler for Spidey to appear in the Netflix series' than AoS. Cuz they're all in NYC and he's kind of a big deal in NYC. I expect to see newly reacquired guys like Blade(not an NYC hero but hey the 90's Spiderman cartoon is canon to the masses) though.
For one thing, the AoS might be there for the empowering event for these heroes(I forget the term they use). If Luke Cage et al. start acting openly, Shield would take notice.

That could be cool. Have shows on different networks ever crossed over before? I would think that even though both shows are in the same "Marvel" universe, they probably have some pretty strict rules about which properties they're allowed to mention. Just so they don't start contradicting each other.
There isn't much precedent for shows on different networks crossing over, but I think a large part of that was that the Television Studios owned the material. In the case of Marvel, it's produced by Disney subsidiaries and they own the rights to all the characters, so it's not out of the question. Besides, Netflix is only technically a distributor, I would imagine (I haven't read much about the deal, but I imagine there is some co-financing and profit sharing, but I doubt any of the character rights would be transferred.

There were Buffy and Angel crossovers after Buffy switched to UPN. So its doable as long as they're produced by the same source.

Hey, this week's Agents of Shield is pretty great. A great reveal and a great teaser for the upcoming Sif episode. I think I can say that this is the first episode that really kept me hooked the whole time.
What do you think the blue guy in the tank was? I've seen speculation that it was either a Kree or an Atlantean.

Kree. Probably to set up for otherworldly visitors alongside GotG
1. List of possible races for our mysterious blue skinned alien. Kree was mentioned. Definitely setting up for GotG
2. Dat Melinda May. Sneaky little girl
3. IMO, the inclusion of Sif worked well in this episode. My earlier predictions on how the the crossover would play out (down to the interactions) all took place in this episode. Damn i'm good.
Absolutely. It worked because it tied into ongoing MCU events without unnecessary special guest stars drawing focus away from the actual regular characters as a cheap ratings grab. This episode worked so well because it took the events of CA2WS and explored how those events have consequences for AoS' set of characters. The only special guests were ones already in rotation on the show (not MCU film stars) and they featured directly into ongoing plotlines and character arcs for the show.
Tying into the greater MCU isn't a negative thing for the show, it can be a wonderful positive as Marvel weaves its giant multimedia universe of stories. Agents of SHIELD relying on the greater MCU films is only a bad thing when it's used as a crutch for ratings and steals focus from the plots and characters native to the show. Tonight's episode was a case of showing the ripples made in the MCU by CA2WS and acting as a coda to the film without sacrificing the show's own arc and momentum. The ripples were utilized to enrich the show, not just exploit the huge box office.
i like how the show has been going since The Bridge, and this ep is one of the best there is but my only complain would be that for those who haven't watch CA2 yet there would be quite a lot of spoilers if one were paying enough attention to this ep.
as for the twist ending i didn't expect them to actually use it right at this moment of the season which would have been better save for a little later in the season (or as a desperate ploy for ratings), and they really need to deploy LMD some time soon.

In summation: You are not inherintely superior for using a rogue deck.
KoolKoal: Feel free to take this with a grain of salt since self meta isn't particularly helpful, but I think I get scumread mostly for style over substance, but also for a certain lack of substance over style. It's not so much what I AM posting most of the time (though sometimes that can seem bad) but what I'm NOT posting. I've been told I come to non-obvious conclusions a lot, so when I post, quite a bit of the time there's jumps in logic that people can't follow and they think that's scummy. I get that accusation about a lot of questions I ask specifically. People call them "busy work" when the questions are legit etc.
As far as things to ignore, I can't think of anything. I would suggest you focus less on what I'm doing and more on how I'm doing it. That's probably more likely to be accurate. Like I've just said, what I do tends to come off a little weird, but if you look for how I do it, mindset comes into play and maybe you figure out something useful.

I was. Dude who shoots a helpless quadraplegic isn't going to stay a regular cast member long. That last week was the real shocking twist of the series.
