The Gala is like midseason isn't it? I haven't seen all of S1, but its 24 episodes right?
The episode where they all fight over who gets Twilight's extra ticket happens early on I think, then an episode somewhere along the way where Rarity makes dresses for everybody, but they don't actually go to the gala until the end of the season.
They were originally going to have the Discord storyline end the first season, but the gala episode was decided to be such a good closure point that they went with that instead and kept the Discord storyline for the opener of season two. Apparently it was decided that it was 20% cooler.
I have only seen 2 episodes of this show thus far however... So far the animation is quite impressive, HOWEVER I find the messages its teaching children too NOT BE.... in the two episodes I saw it gave the following messages
1) Lieing too your teacher is a good thing.
2) Vilence is an excellent first step too conflict managment, If the person you are fighting is bigger and fights back guilt him
3) If your friend is doing something they deem important that takes concentration but might adversely effect your record feel free too distract them/make them fail, Then rub there nose in it.. mention something along the lines of "you will never be as good as me"
Just curious as to which two episodes you watched? What were the plots? I like the show because they actually deal with situations that come up in friendships. Some of them don't really have any solutions and you have to make do with some sort of common ground. If #3 is an episode involving Rainbow Dash that's her character. She's loyal...but one of the main flaws with her is that she is arrogant as all get out.
Good thing the previous episode happened though. After the pet episode, Rainbow Dash was getting her middle name to be Rainbow "Douchebag" Dash.
I enjoyed the Pet episode, no doubt. great musical, comes with "We already know the ending, but we wanna see how it happens" storyline, but something kept bugging me about Rainbow's endless ego. She keeps harping on Awesomeness, Coolness and Radicalness and has those poor animals undergo what's basically boot camp followed by the final four (sorry, meant five) race in Ghastly Gorge. Its almost animal cruelty. Than SNAP. The Quarry Eels makes it practically animal cruelty, even if they were awesome.
And all that just to meet Rainbow's criteria and ego. The recent episodes sorta deducted points off Rainbow for me.
Time Walk, Timetwister, Mox Emerald, Mox Jet, and Mox Sapphire are being altered as I post this as well
I suppose what I like about the new MLP series is that the characters aren't perfect and infallible. I think that is an important lesson for everyone - young and old - who watches this series.

ok in one of them they were trying too stop a dragon from taking a nap because the smoke that oozed out of his mouth while snoozing was causing some problems in ponyvill. The other one some random bug/fairy creatures were destroying the town and they had too figure out how too get rid of them.
The Dragonshy episode uses a couple of approaches before they head straight to violence.
Rarity is doing a decent job of smoozing him until she falls victim to her own obsession with pretty things. That's actually fun because in D&D that's one of the best ways to deal with a dragon. Appeal to its sense of vanity and superiority.
Pinkie Pie just annoys him with balloons and streamers.
Twilight actually tries to politely wake him up and logically explain why he can't sleep there. She gets a smoke cloud and blown out of the cave for her troubles.
Rainbow Dash is the one that actually gets aggressive and kicks him in the face after the others fail. Which is fitting since the last couple of posts deal with Rainbow Dash's arrogance and impatience.
Fluttershy isn't violent with him. She has to overcome her shyness and modesty and is aggressively assertive with him but backs off and returns to her soft spoken voice when he breaks down (also noting that she's sorry he got kicked in the face while she's upset with him).
The whole message on that episode is Fluttershy doesn't want to go, thinks she'll get in the way, and is terrified in the first place. She ends up being the most useful.
The Parasprite episode is actually a Star Trek parody. Nobody listens to Pinkie Pie even though she's the only that actually knows how to deal with them.
They're supposed to be young adults. Twilight is worried with impressing Celestia all the time and hasn't figured out that she isn't the Bloody Mary tyrant they keep making her out to be. This involves her lying quite often so she doesn't seem to be a bad student. It's one of her major flaws and part of the premise of the show - figuring out there is more to life than just studying and being perfect on paper all the time. A lot of the same flaws exist in Hermione's character in Harry Potter. Go to the library and study for the answers. Some things they don't put in the books though.

I think the imperfections of the characters are what keeps me watching it, despite being a 31 year old male. I strongly feel that people could gain a lot by watching this show, regardless of age or gender. It has some important lessons for everyone in all stages of their life.
For example, I start a new job on Monday that has (until at least February) 106 hours of mandatory overtime a month. My work rotation will consist of 7 12-hour shifts, 5 10-hour shifts, and then two days off. This schedule reminds me of the fourth episode of season one, Applebuck Season, where Applejack tries to harvest all of Sweet Apple Acres by herself while helping her friends. That will remind me to make sure I get enough rest and don't overexert myself on my new job trying to impress my new supervisors (like how Applejack was trying to impress Big Macintosh by harvesting all the apples herself).

I just want to mention how much I love this show. It's the one thing - besides MTG, ofc - that I've ever really gotten truly fanatical about. I was not pleased when I was made to get off the computer right as I was gonna watch the new episode livestream. Every saturday for the last month or so. All so my mom can have a bath.
I'm a step away from writing fanfiction. An MLP Forrest Gump. As in Forrest Gump with ponies from the show. Yeah...I even wrote a song about Trixie. Just the lyrics, though.
I actually just published the first chapter from my first Fic in FimFiction.net!
Also, writing Ponysongs are fun. I'm working on a Jazz Instrumental for RBD, because a cool pony deserves a cool song.
Good luck to you on both counts, and remember to have fun!

Sounds brutal. I work for the Association for Firefighters and Paramedics while still attending school. My shifts don't allow for many pleasures, but I always make time to visit everypony in Equestria when I get home.
Honestly since discovering MLP: FiM I've had a much more positive outlook on many things including magic. My friends that play thing it's a little off and refuse to watch even a single episode to see how good it is

I started watching MLP a few weeks ago , after getting several recommendations from friends to check it out and seeing all sorts of MLP related avatars, sigs, etc. all over the places I frequent online.
I was astonished. I don't think I have ever encountered anything that could create such a wonderful feeling of, well, wonderfulness in a person that wasn't some kind of illicit substance! lol It turns out that everyone was right, MLP : FiM is an amazing show and I was hooked from the first episode (I'm about halfway through season 2 at this point). The characters are fantastic, the animation is great, the stories (though sometimes simple) are always fun and interesting, and the show as a whole just oozes a unique feel good vibe that's hard to put into words. And it's nice, in a sorta warm and fuzzy kinda way, to get little refresher courses on all those basic moral lessons about being a good person that we were taught as kids and then promptly forgot somewhere along the line. It might sound funny, but I feel like watching MLP has made me a better and more thoughtful person on some level.
Anyhoo, it's getting a little late here so I should wrap this up by just saying that it's good to see that there's a healthy community of bronies here on MtG Salvation!
Heh, thanks. I actually like to write lyrics, and I have at least one person who wants to turn my latest work into a real song
That was absolutely epic. I could actually see Pinkie singing it while doing a little dance. Honestly, this is better that "Gotta share, Gotta care" (not one of her best performances in my opinion)

About any "subpar" mechanics or cards: Context is king.
If I make a templating or grammar error, let me know.
The franchise MtG most resembles is Battlestar Galactica. Why? Its players exist in, at most, a dozen different models at any given point in time, with perhaps up to 3% variation, 5% if you're lucky.
Well, I didn't see any subforum-specific rules about resurrecting threads, and this is the only MLP thread in entertainment/television (I checked), so who can't wait for season 5 to start up again?

(P.S. I know at least a few people are irritated that Luna got a redesign by season 2, the comic reverted it.)
