Iverson is just another whiny crybaby, he should just retire if he's not happy in Philly. No one should really take him anyway, he's too old to be effective at the style of ball he plays.
Having a low post scorer opens everthing up. If the Bulls swing the ball into Ben Wallace in the post, the other team will just leave him single covered. Same thing with Brown. They can't create any mismatches down low and force the other team to double so they can open it up for Heinrich, Gordon, Deng, Nocioni, etc. If you always have a guy in your face and you only shoot perimeter shots, you aren't going to win many games. You need a healthy dose of both.
If Iverson drives to the lane people are going to double team him and that's going to leave guys open on the perimeter. All he has to do is kick it out to them and they'll get wide open jumpers all day. Plus Detroit won the championship a few years ago with no low-post scorer. Rasheed used to be a great post-up guy when he was with Portland. I remember everytime they played the Lakers it seemed like nobody could stop him, but now he just jacks up threes all game.

Eh, he's averaging 31 points and 7 assists this season. That's still pretty effective. Plus the Sixers have been trying to trade him for years and he's only asked for a trade within the last few days. It's not like this trade demand is coming out of nowhere like with Ron Artest last year.

I agree with most of this. Rasheed does jack up too many threes, but he did go in the post somewhat, plus they had McDeyss (sp?) coming off the bench to score down low. The Pistons also had a lot of size. Prince could post people up, Rasheed, McDyess, etc. I mean, if the Pistons had to, they could score down low, and they did. Chicago can't score down low if they wanted to. Either way, Chicago isn't any closer to winning a championship with Iverson than they are without.
Yeah the day the blazer's got rid of Rasheed all fans in Portland were pretty happy. Talk about a man with a love affair of jail time and getting technicals.
Hooray 3 game winning streak for the Blazers! Hopefully this is gonna get us back to .5 if we can keep executing like this even though we were playing against some weaker teams heh.
I personally think the phoenix suns is arguebly the best team in the league right now. They have the best play maker in the league, they have people that can rebound, they have people that can shoot outside shots they pretty much have the whole package. They even have people that can play solid defense like shawn marion and raja bell. Not to mention a big force inside amare this kid is still learning about the game but I believe he has alot of potential to be as good as tim duncan, KG or any other big man in the nba.
I believe that rasheed probably could've been alot better then he was at the peak of his days in portland. He just seemed that good at that time i mean i saw him do it all when i used to watch the trailblazers back in the late 90s.
Well you have to basically live in Portland to know the real Rasheed. Stoudamire and Rasheed basically were arrested on a monthly basis. Things like that were mentioned outside of Portland of course but there was more focus on it here.
Im not doubting his skill/talent hes got it but when you get thrown out of games for harrassing a referee after the game and then get busted for smoking marijuana. Thats why we were happy to rid ourselves of him. Stoudamire was let go for nearly the same reason though he wasn't nearly as bad as Rasheed was.
I'm glad he seems to have cleaned up his act in Detroit but I know here he was that bad and I don't know why maybe he wanted the Blazers to trade him .
Just to clarify, you're not talking about Amare Stoudamire, you're talking about the one that played before him, right? I thought that Amare signed on w/ the Suns as a rookie or something.

He's talking about... what's his name, T.J.? All I remember is that his nickname was Mighty Mouse and he was in Toronto before he landed in Portland, but it's his first name that escapes me right now.
Anyway, the Nets are doing awful right now, but at least they're leading the Atlantis Division (not a typo, that's my personal name for it because all the teams suck so hard). They'd better get their act together, though. I haven't really been following them as much as I should (and why should I? They're effectively a lame duck team), but how can a team with an excellent playmaker and Vince Carter be doing so terribly?

Damon Stoudamire. You're probably thinking about TJ Ford, our current point guard, who's doing really well for the raptors in his own right. He's no Steve Nash, but he's probably one of the fastest guys in the league.
I follow the raptors, and I'm a big fan. This isn't me being a fanboy or anything, but if Bosh can stay healthy, the I wouldn't be surprised if the Nets have competition in the Atlantic Division. Then again, the Atlantic division is such a weak division, you can say that any team can get out of that pile with the division title. I just don't think that the Nets are a 'lock-in' for that spot. They don't have consistent bench depth, and after Jason Kidd, their defensive capabilities drop down to the level of the other atlantic teams. With a 1.5 game difference between the top 4 atlantic teams, Expect Boston and Toronto to compete with this team all year (lol, New York)
As to further answer your question about why the Nets are underachieving, Carter doesn't play sufficient defense for his star status, they lack bench depth (particularly big men), Kidd can't play the transition as well as he did last year because of his age, and they rely too much on carter in the clutch, and after a few years with him in toronto, i can attest to the fact that he'll never be a prolific clutch guy.
I couldn't believe the Bucks let Ford go. That's one of the worst moves you'll see in the last few years. It'll take another year-2 before i'm proven right, but the kid is amazing.
The Suns are easily my favorite team in the league, with the Bulls being a distant second (I love Kirk Heinrich and Ben Gordon :p). But they're (Suns) not the best team right now. I'd say that Utah because when healthy, they're deep. Then Suns, then Mavs, then Spurs. The Suns are back though. That year to develop Diaw as a starter was probably better then MOST realize for the team. They had to go beyond Nash/Stoudamire and the pick and roll.

Yeah i am talking about amare stoudamire in my opinion he does have alot of potential to be one of the most dominate and all-around big men in the nba i mean for someone that has not been in the league that long. He can sure put up 25 points per game and about 10+ rebounds a game so I think he could get even better. Although its safe to compare him to shawn kemp when shawn kemp was in his prime amare has that same flashyness to the rim like shawn kemp did.
Yeah sorry about the confusion I was mentioning Damon Stoudamire. But like I said its not so much there on the court play that was troubling it was how often they were locked up or in trouble for one charge or another.
i just want to say that this is how i feel about the east teams that i think will make the playoffs.
(in order from best to worst)
EAST
#1 Cavs - LeBron is pissed from his loss in the post season he will drag his team through the playoffs if he has to, but he does have a good supporting cast so i dought he will because Drew gooden has stepped up along with Hughes
#2 Bulls - With the addition of the 4 time D-Fensive Ben Wallace who has of late begun to show people why the Bulls gave him a 60 million contract, and Hinrick, Ben Gordon, Nocioni, P.J., Loul Deng, i think the Bulls will go far into the post season
#3 Detroit - I would of put them as #1 in East if they still had Big Ben, but still good team and i think they only have a couple playoff runs left in them, if that...
#4 Wizards - They are a really good team with Butler, Jamison, and Arenas, but i think they won't get farther than second round
#5 Orlando - With the outstanding preformance of Jameer Nelson and Dwight Howard i see them being a legit threat in the reg season and in the post season
#6 Celtics - (:p My favorite team:p ) i think that the Celtics have finally gotten a there all their pieces together and alot of the young guys have stepped up like Delonte West, Big Al, Gerald Green and Sebastian Telfair, but they a currently rattled with injury, but when healthy they are great team
#7 Nets - Overrated team the only good players are Kidd (good job on beating Wilt for all-time triple-doubles) and Richardson, and Carter is not that amazing because he is all offense and not enough defense
#8 Heat - To old, they don't have any fire in their stomachs from winning a championship and as its been proven so far D-Wade cant carry the Heat with out Shaq, who will probably retire this year if the heat dont win a championship (which they wont)

The Celtics haven't proved anything. All they are to me is a one-star team. I'd even go so far as to say that Toronto is better than them. There will only be one team from the Atlantis Division going to the playoffs, and I think it will be a fight between the Nets and Raptors.

I totally agree with the lebron and cavs being first on the list they are such a young team they have actually alot of potential to be the best team in the nba but obviously that comes with time. Lebron james is really good at 21 years of age in my opinion i think he's the best player in the league when he wants to be. He reminds me of combonation of Dr. J and magic johnson just by the way he plays in my opinion.
Edit: I think Iverson would do great in boston plus he can help Paul pierce with the scoring which will be good for both of them overall anyway. Although if he wants to win a championship i think the best place to go for iverson is minnesota. I mean thats real fire power right there two players that have been mvps of the league. Plus Iverson can spread the floor with his relentless shooting ability and so it will make it really difficult for their opponent to double or triple team KG in the post which KG does alot of damage at is in the low or high post.
Cecilia (kevin), you must be naive to think that Boston would be a good fit for Iverson. His ego and Pierce's ego will start a nuclear war. I doubt those two could co-exist. In Minnesota, however, he might do well, as Garnett isn't selfish and might help Iverson.
if garnett and iverson are able to play together, that would just be absolutely freakishly good. i just wonder how the salary structure would be. would they be able to afford any bench depth afterwards?
I couldn't believe the Bucks let Ford go. That's one of the worst moves you'll see in the last few years. It'll take another year-2 before i'm proven right, but the kid is amazing.
You can't believe the Bucks let go a 5-10 point guard who shoots a low percentage and turns the ball over too much for a 7 footer who can shoot threes and scored 50 points in a game last season? You really can't believe that? Especially when they're going to try and replace him with Chauncey Billups next year when he becomes a free agent?
I don't think the Jazz are that great, honestly. They won alot of games because they're basically a one man team(Boozer), and one man teams were successful during the first couple of weeks of the season, while most teams in the West have a more spread out offense, and struggled because of turnovers etc. because of the new ball. I mean, if you look at the teams that did well initially but have since cooled down(Lakers, Jazz, Rockets, etc), they have decent players, but for the most part, their offense is focused around one guy. Then you have teams like Phoenix, Dallas, San Antonio that have very balanced offenses that spread the ball around, and they struggled...because of the ball. But now they've gotten used to it(which is ironic since they're just going to change it in 2 weeks anyway), and they've reasserted their dominance over the conference. The skill-gap between SA/Dallas/Phoenix and..everyone else(in the league) is glaringly obvious whenever you watch any of their games.

No I am not being naive because i was just giving out my opinion however you don't know if thats true either because ive seen iverson on many occasions pass the ball more then he shoots it so i think they could be good as a team. I mean this year ive seen him get at least 7-10 assists or more a game like 10 times this year out of like 15 games he played in. I also seen paul pierce be a team player in number of ocassions as well especially when antawn walker was playing in boston who was also a 20-23 points per game scorer. But then again all of this is just guesses including my and your input MW. I mean either of us could be right or wrong we just don't know since we haven't even seen them play on the same team.
Who do y'all think will get Iverson, Luckily two of the teams I'd like to get him (Minnesota and Boston) seem to be front runners.
I'm still in mourning. Philly management ticks me off, they make it so hard to be a fan. If they are going to rebuild they need to get rid of everyone in the front office first. Start the rebuilding there. Then fire the coach, and trade 75% of the team. Keep Hunter, Iguodala and maybe Korver, he's a good sixth man, and scrap the rest.
With regards to who will get him, it looks like Denver is currently at the top of the list. I just hope they get at least one first round draft pick in the deal, and they don't blow the pick. I'd be interested to see what kind of a duo Iverson and Melo would make.

It was a good trade for both sides. Toronto needed a point guard, and the bucks needed another scoring big after bogut. this year, ford has been playing great without mistakes, and the up-tempo offence he's been running allowed him to get some easy baskets. the raptors are currently near the top of the rankings in assist to turnover ratios, and it's because of our great PG tandem of TJ Ford and Jose Calderon (the PG for gold-medal Spain this year)
