I just wanted to start a thread to see which the most hated sports teams are.
I don't really know too much about most sports but I'll give the teams I hate and people I know hate:
I hate the Toronto Maple Leafs because their fans are quick to make fun of me because I like the Monreal Canadiens even though I don't do anything to them before they make fun of me but then when I say something back, they'll start whining.
I have no problems with the Philadephia Flyers but I know alot of people hate them because of their goon tactics.

My most hated teams:
NHL: Canadians (Bruins fan here), and the Flyers (For said goon tactics)
MLB: Yankees (Sox fan and I am sick of the Yankees buying world series)
NFL: Cowboys (America's team... yeah right) and the Jets (Sox fan and more recently, Rex Ryan.)
I hate the Toronto Maple Leafs because their fans are quick to make fun of me because I like the Monreal Canadiens even though I don't do anything to them before they make fun of me but then when I say something back, they'll start whining.
This isn't the right reason to hate the Leafs.
I grew up in Ontario and was a Leafs fan by default (long before the Senators). Then I moved to downtown Toronto and I learned a few things. For one, it was cheaper for 4 guys to rent a car, split the gas, drive to and from Buffalo, buy tickets at the gate 30 minutes before game time, and watch the Leafs play there than it was to WALK to the Air Canada Centre to watch a game (unless you got tickets from scalpers at the end of the 1st period). Second, in 2003 (?), it cost me $35/ticket to STAND at the rafters in the "no drinking" section. I didn't even get a seat. There, I discovered that the only fans watching the game in the top sections. There is almost no cheering in the lower sections because the vast majority of those ($$$) seats are held by companies for entertaining clients. It's a "status symbol" thing.
Then I clued in: That's how the Leafs can put a losing team on the ice year after year while pricing their tickets WAY higher than the rest of the league and still sell out their season tickets 5 years in advance... They have absolutely no incentive to put a good team on the ice.
I grew up in Minnesota, so by law I am required to hate the Green Bay Packers. But the past two years I have hated the Vikings for sucking so hard.
Don't much follow any other sports really. I have to watch NHL because my fiance loves hockey, but I don't really pay much attention so I don't know which teams I should be hating except for what he tells me.

And that's why I hate the Leafs.
that's another reason to hate them, but the reason why I hate the fans is because of the fact that their team is a losing one, yet their fans still bash every other team in the league.
I don't know when the old NHL teams started, but the Yankees have been around sense the 1870s I believe(I could be wrong) I'm a dolphins fan, and as much as I hate the patriots, The Yankees are far and away the most hated team.
The most hated team in the NHL has to be the Vancouver Canucks. It's one thing to hate the Leaves for being the Leaves or the Flyers for still trying to play hockey like it's the 1970's, but by golly when your the only Canadian team in the Stanley Cup Final and have the best chance for a Canadian team to win it in well over a decade, and most of Canada doesn't rally around you for being, well, you, you know you aren't liked.
The Vancouver Canuck's aren't hated for being good, or trying to hold onto their glory days from long ago, or even for being dirty. The Vancouver Canucks are hated for being the Drako Malfoy of hockey. And that's true hatred right there.
Vancouver is not really hated in Canada at all. It's just that most of Canada is locally focused when it comes to NHL support rather than cheering for some obscure team out west. Basically, the country breaks down like this:
BC > Vancouver fans
Alberta > Calgary + Edmonton
Manitoba > Winnipeg, maybe Toronto
Ontario > Toronto, minor Ottawa following
Quebec > Montreal
Eastern Provinces > Mostly Montreal, some Boston and Toronto

I am not sure how it is Ottawa, but at least listening to my Toronto friends (Leaf fans and one lonely ostracized Oilers fan), they were actually rooting for Boston over Vancouver and called Vancouver a disgrace to Canadian hockey.
As a Detroiter, and an NHL fan, I always got the impression that other cities considered the wings the Yankees of hockey. I dunno if that constitutes hatred, but it is what it is.

As a Blackhakws fan I hate Detroit because they are good and pretty much have always been good. But it is a respectful and fun hate.

Come now, as a hockey fan you should know by now not to listen to what Leaf fans have to say
As for Detroit, I never really had a hate for them, I have just become sick of seeing them all the time. I think it's the fact that Stevie Y was such a class act and that they never purposely tanked (cough pittsburg cough chicago) that makes me respect them a lot.
Also, my Devils pwning them 4-0 in '94 does help to mitigate any hard feelings I have for them.

I know, I know. All Leaf fans are thieves and lairs.
Also as a Blackhawks fan I take offense to the notion that you think we were run well enough back then that we could purposefully tank. You are giving Dollar Bill way too much credit.
In the NFL, I hate the Dallas Cowboys and the Denver Broncos. Broncos mostly because I'm a San Diego fan, but recently all of the Denver wagon-hoppers annoy me to no end. Where were all of these fans when the Broncos were 4-12 with Orton? Cowboys because they're the Cowboys. When you have a popular mega-franchise like that, hatred it bound to ensue.
A lot of hate on the Leafs in here, which is understandable. But, the Canadiens are one of the more hated franchises as well, at least where I live. It's the same kind of deal with the Cowboys, when you have two huge franchises like the Leafs an Canadiens, there are going to be a lot of people that are bound to hate them.
Also not a fan of the Canucks (whiners, divers, the whole lot ;)), the Bruins or the Flyers.
MLB: Yankees and Red Sox hands down. I would say Sox over Yankees, but that is my opinion.
NFL: Patriots is the only team that comes to mind. I also hate the NY Giants, but that is related to me being a 49ers fan.
NHL: Red Wings and Blackhawks are the only two that come to mind for me. Personal hate towards the Maple Leafs, but that's because I am a Shark's fan. The Leafs need to burn.
Isn't baseball pretty much this? The wealthiest teams get the best players and are in the playoffs year after year etc. Someone mentioned the Yankees as an example.
Any team that attempts to buy championships or whose fans act as though their team is always the greatest even when they're awful.
Miami Heat
NY Yankees
LA Lakers
Oakland Raiders
LA Dodgers
Don't know many Raiders fans, but are they really that arrogant? I mean, the franchise has been putrid for about 20 years and they have 1 championship? There was that early 90's phase where raiders jackets and such were everywhere due to the influence of Rap videos/Compton Rap groups, but that was just a fashion trend.
I personally hate the Dallas Cowboys. It makes me smile when they lose. I don't really have a favorite team but I was born and raised in Washington state so I'll cheer on the Seahawks but they have a long and storied history of being awful so I don't get my hopes up too much. It's kind of cool that they are having a good season again this year though. Hopefully they can make it to the super bowl again and not have the officials give it to the other team this time.
Any whose fans act as though their team is always the greatest even when they're awful.
I disagree with this completely. People should support their team in the good times and the bad, that's what it means to be a fan. I think band wagon jumpers are a million times worse than people supporting a losing team.

That is a fair statement, one that I said for years as a disgruntled fan of the game.
However there is more parity in baseball now than many casual fans realize:
- For example, this season the A's, Indians, Reds, and Pirates all made the playoffs and they are considered "small market" teams. Hell, the A's won the West two years in a row now, in a division that includes perennial big spenders Texas and Anaheim.
- They didn't make the playoffs, but the Orioles, Kansas City, and Arizona were competitive for much of the season.
- Last year, big spending Boston finished last and the Dodgers didn't make the playoffs. This year the Yanks missed out on the postseason.
Sure there are teams that seem to be "always there", but it is not nearly as bad as it used to be. Teams are actually doing better scouting, drafting, and "home-brewing" competitive teams instead of opening the pocketbook.
And then you have the Astro's...

This brings me to my #1 - the Cubs. Mostly because of the fans. I also wish the Packers weren't so good every year but that's more envy than hate.
