Other percussion: whenever a composer wants the musicians to clap their hands, it feels... dumb. Really dumb.
Tubas may get many dull parts, but the instruments themselves are awesome. Some Avante Garde tuba music is otherworldly!
Don't agree : Clapping Music by Steve Reich is out of this world : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FcFyl8amoEE. The only time I played with the Montreal Symphony Orchestra, this was on the program!
