Genre breaking almost to the point of The Dark Knight, deeply emotional, profound, beautiful, poetic... Look, I could write a bunch of words to describe this movie, but just go see it. It's wonderful.

I see that no one addressed your post, so I will.

I disagree. I don't think Logan is a bad movie, but I don't think it is the ultimate masterpiece everyone is talking about. Is it a good movie? Well, it depends. Compared to what? Compared to generic super hero movies? Yes, Logan is a very good movie compared to them. Compared to a good drama? No, I would say it is just okay.
What carries the feelings for everyone in the movie is the attachment that they already have to the characters. Change the characters for them not to be Xavier and Wolverine and I bet people would have given warm reviews at best. The story is very predictable. You can see Logan's death coming from miles away, and the movie doesn't really resist to "plot-hole inspection". How did a chunk of wood pierce through Wolverine's adamantium? Why didn't Wolverine finish off the doctor after the farmer managed to stop his clone? Why the kids, the brutally trained killing machines, run from the goons of the evil corporation at the end? Why not just turn around and kill them as X-23 did at the beggining of the movie?
The movie certainly has things to be appreciated, mainly the relationship between Charles and Logan. However, when it ended, I thought something was lacking. I thought I was suppose to care about it, and I just couldn't do it. It was too predictable, too forced. Let me put it this way: instead of making a good story that would evoke feelings of sorrow and loss, they made a story about sorrow and loss hoping it would evoke the same feelings in the audience. In my case, it didn't.

I get to a degree what you're saying but I feel like we're firmly in nitpicking territory. Stuff like

Need not necessarily be a bad thing. They did keep major references/Easter eggs largely out of the movie but it didn't treat the audience as complete newbs and having to dedicate time to re-explain everything and instead cuts right to the chase. I feel like that was a strength for the movie.
The most I can knock the film for is
The story is very predictable.
Which isn't entirely the movie's fault but rather the marketing team for basically spoiling all the important plot points in the first trailer and the entire vibe of the "One last time" campaign. Still, there were definitely moments in the movie in which the foreshadowing is a little ham fisted.
Everything else is pretty much on point, the acting of the three main characters was probably the best the genre has seen since RDJ as Tony Stark and Ledger as the Joker in 2008 (maybe Ryan Reynolds as the most recent Deadpool). There was a very good balance in the directing; balancing the action scenes, cinematography, and character moments all while being consistent in a very gritty, western style theme.
Of course this is a fantastic movie and I suggest for others to watch this because if you miss this then it will be a real loss. I am a writer and I am interested in watching such movies
