My wife and I tried to watch Transformers 4 on Netflix. We gave up around the 2 hour mark, when we realized there was another hour of this to go.
It's just... too bad. I've watched and enjoyed all the Fast & Furious movies. They manage to not overstay their welcome and even though they're not by any means good movies, they've stayed pretty fun.
The transformers films... I'm not sure I can take another racial caricature autobot.
Honestly... I think I would rather they stop making them for now. In another 5 years, I would be ok with a reboot with a different director and entirely different actors. I am really sick of the way that these are being directed and the direction they have gone with them is a joke. These movies are just bad acting and bad directing floating on CG budgets.
I was so happy when I heard that Shia LaBeouf was not in #4 because honestly his character sucked in the first three. But then they proved that the reason his character sucked was because the directing and plots sucked.
If and when #5 hits, I will not go see it. Eventually I will probably find it on redbox or netflix and watch it for little to no money and regret it.

I have officially moved to MTGNexus. I just wanted to let people know as my response time to salvation decks being bumped is very hit or miss.
The first one was watchable, largely because it was fun to see Transformers in general put on the big screen light that. All that has come after has been going progressively further downhill.

I will always firmly stand by the belief that Magic is a game first and a collectable second.
Beast Wars keeping a tight cast and a focus on the robots themselves showed what can be done with transformers material. So it is possible to have some good ideas on what to do with the robots. Honestly, I wish they would put transformers into Kindle Worlds like they did with GI Joe so we can actually see some different authors take in the books that could hypothetically be turned into movies.
However, I think the main thing is that they don't focus enough on the Transformers themselves as characters like the cartoons did. I liked the first movie, with the fourth movie I fast forwarded through a lot of it to get to certain parts. It was alright, but not the greatest and only had one character I actually liked.
