Since the end of the new He-Man series several years ago, there has been little news regarding the Masters of the Universe franchise. Therefore, I am wondering what the future hold for this universe and its characters.
Since the new series was not as popular as was the original series, I doubt that there shall be a third television series, but I can certainly imagine there being a feature-length, live-action film at some point in the near future, especially since other old animated franchises, most notably Transformers and G.I. Joe have been revived as film series. Of course, I would want such a film to be actually set in Eternia, not in our world, as was the live-action film from several decades ago.
What does everyone say about this? What does the future hold for the MotU franchise? Will there be a live-action film, or something else? I await your responses.
I kinda liked the movie, if you took away the mascot character, the two teenagers, and put it on eternia rather than earth.
I'd like a similar approach to DCAU (specifically, the last 2 season of Justice League). Slightly more mature writing, but notdarker and grittier. Less ham, less oddball characters, and less fanservice, although that may not be possible because of the franchise. No freaking tweener characters, or jar jar bink like mascots (which again, may not be possible if the target demographic is tweeners). No "I'm-cool-rebel-and-don't-follow-rules-but-get-results" characters. More swords, less lasers guns. Not touched by Michael Bay in any way.

There are actually three television series:
The original He-Man and the Masters of the Universe from 1983, The New Adventures of He-Man from 1990, and the third series from 2002 with the same name as the original. This last series was very, very well done in my opinion. It is on Netflix and available very cheaply from Amazon.
In addition, DC Comics started printing He-Man comics a couple years ago. It started with a 6 issue limited series which lead to an ongoing monthly title. They have also printed several one-shot origin issues and a 6 issue crossover entitled, "DC Universe Vs. Masters of the Universe." The ongoing series is pretty well written and worth checking out in my opinion.
"He-Man: The Most Powerful Game in the Universe" is a fairly recent app for both iOS and Android devices. I believe it is free on iOS and $0.99 on Android. It is a platformer that I'd compare to a watered-down version of the original Castlevania series. And if you're a fan of Castlevania, even a lesser version is still pretty decent.
There is definitely interest in the franchise, so I hope it is only a matter of time before something big like a movie comes along. In the meantime if you need to scratch that He-Man itch, the comics are a solid read, and the app is fun and nostalgic enough to check out.

And it'll happen.
I can only hope it's not terribly cheesy, but with characters made in the style of He-Man, we have to expect a certain amount of ham.
Guess we'll see!

I own it, it's not so bad.
A reboot might not be so bad - keep Mr. Bay away!
