I just found that without some form of damage he's too lackluster compared to when he does build some. I think boomerang cd is low enough (if you catch it) that you can generally get a lot of procs off as mini Gnar, which works well with the kite and poke with autos playstyle he's got, and Mega Gnar I'd say gets a lot of benefit out of the movespeed (he's like the slowest champ in the game, or tied for that), and is just a lot scarier with the extra damage.
Course that's my opinion after only a few games of him, but my thoughts on him going full tank is kinda why would I pick him for that over something more reliable that does more damage, at the cost of a bit less disruption? I think he definitely wants one or two damage items to differentiate enough from say, Shyvana, as it gives him the power to burst people a lot harder than the other tanks.
Although I do think he could do with some faster animations when Mega on his Q and W. The W in particular is the clunkiest thing ever to use.
The builds I've seen have gotten a Brutalizer ---> black cleaver at some point for damage. I think that auto-q-auto will proc your passive, which does really solid damage, and makes you a pretty good mixed damage source. I just think that Trinity is far too expensive for what it gives you.
Azir's announcement means this is probably the shortest gap between new champions as far as I have personally seen.... we've had Gnar for... how long? Not even a month?
But whatever the case, Azir looks like someone I won't play well... a little too much micro-management from the looks of it.

I like the champion idea. Not sure how well its going to be executed, seems clunky
I'm not sure how he'll (Azir) work, he has amazing poke, and a great teamfight ult, but we don't know the numbers, or how the meta will adapt. Then again, its only a matter of time until Riot forces the meta to shift back to Bruiser top, ganking Jungler, Caster mid, Pure Damage Carry and Whipping Boy bot. I love a lot of the ideas for characters Riot puts out, but the way they handle the game with meta enforcing and poor execution just keeps turning me away every time I try to get back into the game.
Riot's quote about how fully controllable units not working with Leagues control scheme is the most laughable statement I have heard in a while. You make a game, based off of RTS's and say that controlling a unit is too difficult to execute with the control scheme? Just because you are too lazy to use preexisting code for control groups, doesn't mean its too difficult to do.
Am I the only one bothered by the slow creep in mobility and inverse creep in resource management? I mean, if Swain was created now, he'd be top tier because Riot doesn't want to give people mana to deal with.

Heh, I just scored my third solo Nashor in Bot game
First it was Jax, then Vi, then today Gangplank with Blade of Ruined King, Maw of Malmortimus and an assortment of additional damage items; which means, these three times I soloed Nashor with AD champions with life drain + speed combo. That makes me wonder: Is there ever any caster-type champions who can solo Nashor? Heavily-support champs like primarily healers (Soraka, for example) probably won't stand a chance at all, but what about the rest?

If someone proposed a champion that could build a base and start mining gold and building an army, that likewise would be technologically simple to accomplish - RTSes have been doing that for decades. But of course there's no way in hell Riot would ever make such a champion. It's not a technical limitation (and it's certainly not because they're "lazy"); it's a genre requirement. And that's clearly the case here as well. They changed the control scheme from the RTS standard in what is very obviously a deliberate design decision stemming from the different needs of a different genre. Under most circumstances, you're only controlling a single unit in LoL, and the system is optimized for that purpose. Re-adopting the unit selection mechanic from Warcraft would sacrifice that optimization and/or gameplay consistency. It strikes me as perfectly reasonable for Riot to say that they're not willing to make that sacrifice for a handful of champion concepts. LoL isn't an RTS, and they don't want it playing like one. Don't call them lazy for paying attention to the bigger picture.
Anyway, I finally got to play with the sheer uncontrollability that is Gnar today. Yeah, I can see now why people tend to complain about that uncontrollability; I hate it when my meter gets yellow when there's no team fight around, and then when it gets full, Gnar will transform sooner or later, whether or not I use the ability (that passive tip lied) or not. And that his atttack range is so damn short, even in Mini form. And that his boomerang sometimes flies back at the wrong direction. Oh well. Still, at least he's fun for kiting in Mini form.
So Fanatic just gave SSB a rather hard stomp (yeah not really a stomp per say but for a Korean team to lose to an EU team with that many deaths for KR its definitely a stomp)

Holy crap, Groups C and D for worlds have been amazing. I'm super excited to see the rest of the coverage.
Group C is probably the most entertaining group because of the different styles that creates regional advantages and disadvantages to one another, plus no random wildcard/sea team for free points. Group D is pretty much going to be alliance and NJWS unless C9 pulls out a miraculous win over NJWS like alliance did.
I really think they need a international qualifying tournament for worlds because the SEA and wildcard regions haven't shown much over this and the past world championships and are really free point teams honestly. International qualifiers will give the fans their dose of international tournaments and make sure that the last remaining spots go to teams that actually deserve to go to worlds
Wildcards are not expected to be serious competitors to win, the main point of them is to allow the minor regions some exposure to serious high level competition. Kabum has already improved quite a bit in my opinion. The sad truth is that there are no world champion-level teams in the minor regions because they're just so far behind and this is the very best single thing within reason that can be done to catch them up. Long ago the korean scene was in the same boat. Although it's probably unreasonable to expect any other minor scene to catch up as fast as they did, because Korea has great pro-gaming infrastructure and was only behind in the first place due to the fact that LoL wasn't popular there for some time.
They also potentially allow for some fun underdog upsets for spectators and honestly I think Kabum might be the first wildcard team that has a non-negligible chance at pulling one against a decent worlds-caliber team given that they actually do have relatively great laning. Not a good chance at beating anyone, but a decent chance at taking one game somewhere in groups (although by now there are few games left).
As for SEA... I think AHQ is totally up to par as a low-tier worlds team. TPA is definitely a dying team by now that I never expect to perform on the international stage again, but they apparently still are engrained well enough in their region's scene to qualify. That can't really be helped.
And I'm not sure what exactly you mean by saying there needs to be an international qualifiers... because there is one for the wildcard. SEA has earned permanent seeds through winning S2 though.
Edit: At time of posting this, Kabum happens to be playing Alliance (the #1 EU seed) and the score is 24.7k to 20.7k gold at 15:39 and they're actively pushing towers.
Edit 2: Haha, wow. Called it. Mostly very well-played by Kabum too.

The good ol days. Release Graves, release Diana, release Zyra. Some of the scariest times for league of legends
Scariest time would have to be release Vayne or release Xin Zhao. Teamfights were them getting a 1v5 pentakill.

Super fun. Not sure of power level - his win rate looks abominable but his learning curve seems incredibly steep, so I have no idea where he'll land.
New Soraka actually feels useful now and I don't know much about Victor.
