I expect lots of OP rage and stuff and people will be defined by their skill with that jump/rebound skill... oh and some idiot is going to end up putting him in bot lane and making him a default ADC for some reason (Korean Gnar Hyper Train incoming.)

Call me old fashioned, but an evil ascension to power just isn't the same without someone chanting faux Latin in the background.

That is not dead which can eternal lie. And with strange eons even death may die.
I don't like not being able to control when I transform. I'l probably skip out on this champ unless he is really really op, in that case, i still won't bite because riot will nerf him.
Btw, that new Sona. Thoughts on her? I've had tremendous success even if you can't spam the spells like the good ol days. The aoe shield is bonkers
Seems very strong - not support Brand strong, but very strong. I haven't played her yet, but I like playing with her, and playing against her isn't as dumb as it was before. Assuming Sona players like her, seems like a win.
I tried sona for the first time.. as support and ended up carrying my team. Buying a lich bane on her is ridiculous, I could melt the other team's fed ADC pretty easily. I even had sight stone and ardent, so I didn't have a ton of AP either. Went like 13-7 or something, I'll find it later.
I think you're vastly overstating Zyra's power. For example, Zyra's ult IS an amazing CC, but it's a very poor engage tool where Sona's is an amazing initiation if that's what you need. Zyra's ult is an amazing counterinitiation; Sona's is not quite the same level of counterinitiation but vastly more flexible. And you're discounting strategic mobility (which is freaking huge to actually winning games), heals and shields, which is just... Zyra's slows do not mitigate anywhere near the damage that Sona's W mitigates. It's good for other reasons but it's not the same thing.
Incidentally:
You also don't get hard-counterd by aoe comps as Zyra. Sona pretty much has to stay really close to someone for her auras to do anything.
I've seen this sentiment a lot and I'm fairly sure it's the opposite of the real situation - it turns out that bringing a free, high tuned Locket (and you can still buy another locket!) is really good against AOE comps. It's not like it was hard to catch multiple people in an AOE before - you don't need a Sona on the enemy team for that to happen, that happens pretty much always, at every elo, anyway - but Sona blunts the effects a lot.
Also, new Sona's poke is pretty stupid. That extra magic damage on auto's is insane. 120 damage plus 100 percent of your AP is sickening at level 1, and that's before factoring in powerchord. I kind of want to try Sona-Ashe, and see if you can't solo out a squishy support/adc at level 1.
I rather like the support role, but I've kind of had enough of it now. I've just had a series of incredibly bad adc's and I can't take it anymore. The last one was completely baffling. He called adc, and got to pick before the enemy team and with no bans. So he got exactly the role and champion he wanted - no excuse about not being familiar with it. And he had the worst last hitting I've ever seen (well, in recent years at least - I must have seen worse when I started). During the first two waves there was absolutely no harass on him whatsoever, and he managed to get ONE minion out of the first wave and TWO out of the second. To make this clear: he also wasn't harassing the enemies, he was simply attacking the minions at exactly the wrong time. I have never in my life willingly left a game in progress, but I felt like doing it right then, after two minion waves. It was hopeless right there. I simply don't understand. How can you be a mid/high gold adc that can't even do basic last hitting? It's not like he excelled at other aspects, either.
You really just need to embrace the rage. I keep a small colony of hamsters next to my computer and every time I lose a match to mana screw I throw one against the wall.
Sona's change makes her a bit hard to use, but at the same time I find her easier to play on the offense thanks to the change on the blue aura.
And I also just realized they make MF's ulti AP-boosted only.... Bummer.
A random passing question: How many champions do you think can kill an enemy champion in the fountain (assuming goldfish)? In theory, I can imagine Trynd and Karthus being able to pull it off; as in, theoretically, Trynd can spin in, Ulti, then start whacking for 5 seconds straight hoping one will get killed, while Karthus can activate Requiem, activate Defile, Flash in as close as possible then tear away with Lay Waste. Any other ideas?
Eh? MF's ult deals over 200% of your total AD to each target who takes the full duration, and can deal more like 400% in some situations.
It deals 50 damage, plus some of your AP, and applies a stack of impure shots. Applying a stack of impure shots deals additional damage equal to 6% of your AD per stack.
So if you throw Bullet Time on someone, they take 6% of your AD plus 12% of your AD plus 18% of your AD plus 24% of your AD plus 30% of your AD plus 36% of your AD plus 42% of your AD plus 42% of your AD (at max rank) = 210% of your total AD, in addition to the 125 + 20% AP damage that it deals.
Eh? Buh, you're right. I totally forgot her Ulti applies Impure Shots which is AD boosted..... eh, I guess I need to play the game more to get things right

Fountain laser ignores all immunities, including Trynd's ult.

AP Ezreal can do stupid amounts of damage from high range late game. Late game Kog could maybe do it as well, not sure if his W boosted auto's can reach out of range of the laser.
Sona still isn't worth playing. Everything she can do, Zyra does it in a better fashion.
You want hard cc ? Well, Zyras is an aoe knockup.
You want poke ? Zyra's poke snares people and travels through units. Her plants also poke.
You want heals, shields and speed boosts ? Well, Zyra permaslows people so that won't be necessary.
You also don't get hard-counterd by aoe comps as Zyra. Sona pretty much has to stay really close to someone for her auras to do anything.
Zyra's AoE knockup isn't instant, unlike Sona ult.
You don't really play Sona for poking, you play her so that you survive extended trades.
Heals are really good. If you want an advantage in sieging, then you heal any carry that is too poked down to continue.
Sona doesn't need to stay close anymore, she just needs to tag them with her aura so that the aura gains effect.
On the topic of one shotting people at the fointain. You could just pull them out with Blitz hook
But in all seriousness, anyone who is meant to deal damage can do it.
Do you think the champion looks fun/viable? Do you think that the skin is of sufficient quality to spend money on? If the answers to these questions are yes, then yeah, it's worth it. If either is no, then it's not.
Personally, he's a fun champ to play, but I really don't think he's viable right now. Skin is freaking adorable, plus, you know, Reptar and all. I don't regret buying it.
