Obviously, he's meant to be tank, but after looking at his skills, I somehow feel playing AP Mundo with Spell Vamp seems pretty strangely good also. With 20% Spell Vamp, that cleaver toss can easily recoup all the health loss it incurs as long as it hits, and the aura gets to heal more when I'm in the thick of battle. But yeah, most certainly I like AP Mundo because of that cleaver toss.
Lol, I think playing too much bot games really messed up my playing mindset XDXD That, or I'm just not good playing anything other than junglers and carries
He's definitely best played tanky. Abilities all either directly scale with health or indirectly with just how long he lives. Very solid base damages too.
Spell vamp is actually a good stat on mundo though, and last I knew (presumably still) spell vamp quints are the way to go for jungling him - but otherwise it's just too inconvenient a stat. Not worth the utility tree, not worth the rest of the cost of wota or the other sv items, not worth the quint slot in lane over straight health regen.
but uhh... you do know that cleaver has no scaling on anything except enemy hp, right? That and a pretty meh AP ratio on the only spell affected by it (w) make it pretty bad. If you really want to go spell damage mundo, you'd get much more mileage out of penetration. In fact during the midgame, sorc shoes + haunting guise is the core of a solid build on any champ with a decent bread and butter magic damage ability.

"Virtue, Jacques, is an excellent thing. Both good people and wicked people speak highly of it..."
I do understand that the cleaver scales strictly from enemy HP (with a certain minimum damage threshold); it just that at max level, 90 HP to throw a cleaver, dealing almost 300 damage on average, with 20% spell vamp that's 50-60 HP back, in addition to 45 Hp back from the cleaver itself, and 4 second cooldown on cleaver before any CD redduction, and throwing away HP so quickly has never been so much fun
But ok, Spell Penetration is a good idea too but I wonder if armor/magic penetration also works on the boss monsters, though; I've been itching to try soloing Nashor with Mundo, but haven't succeeded that
I play the crap out of Mundo, he's one of my favorite champs, honestly. Sorc Shoes and Haunting Guise are great if you're really ahead, but it really is best to just build tanky, because you bring a ton of damage to a fight without having to build any kind of DPS items. Sunfire>Spirit Visage>Randuins are a solid base to go off of, with defensive boots in there somewhere. Between Sunfire and your W, you can clear a wave incredibly fast.
Liandry's is pretty fun late game though, the burn from the cleavers does pretty significant damage.
Leona is so fun :3 Getting better at League, starting to play more and more Normals
EDIT: What does every one think about the new rosters? Xpecial started off a bit rusty, but was making a lot of clutch plays in game 3 and 4. Seraph has his on-off days, and the new DIG roster is looking amazing.

Dig has better objective-based teamwork than I expected, which is neat. I've always liked qtpie so it's good to see him doing well.
Seraph is obviously a much better laner than Nien, he seems to make more mistakes with the decisions he commits to later in the game but I wonder if that's all him or partially others telling him to do stuff. I get pretty mad at at least one decision CLG makes each game so it's pretty frustrating to see them not able to get consistent despite having better decisionmaking than they did for so long. They keep doing things that are just way too ambitious for the slightness of their lead or for being a bit behind (which they did with Nien all the time too) and it's kind of annoying to see them make *****ty calls that even I wouldn't.
I'm looking forward to the Pentakill album. I was expecting it to be a laughable attempt but "Lightbringer" is actually really good, if you enjoy power metal.
Finally got to gold. Lost the first two matches of my promos, then went on to win the next 3. Phew!
That being said, Rengar is a beast right now (Literally), and his burst damage is off the charts.
I've been floating in gold 5 for a bit. I'll go 16/6, then I'll go 6/7... really up-and-down. I feel like if I get more consistent, I will cruise up a couple divisions really fast; I'm dominating half my games, I'm just a severe liability for the other half.

My experience of working in game studios is that they tend to accumulate talented, artistic people with diverse interests. I've worked with quite a few professional musicians turned game designers over the years.

I just think a cleaver connecting is one of the most satisfying sounds in the game.
candidus inperti; si nil, his utere mecum.
Cleaver, squeaky cleaver, or trophy. Such a satisfying thwack.
There is a LOT to be said for that.
