I always tend to think the Japanese have horrible taste in video games and anime.
I hate all anime so I can't say much there. RPGs are pretty good, and I like most of those, but I agree on the whole busty girl thing. What a bunch of desperate kids...
Japan just has pickier gamers who actually read about a console before buying it. The 360 had no good release game, was buggy and the only improvement from X-Box was graphics. Why would anybody who cares about their gaming as much as the Japanese buy one?
The PS2 was buggy and that didn't stop people from buying. One of the best parts of the PS2 release was the fact that all their games were backwards compatible, and the 360 has most of that. There weren't any Halo calibur games on release, no, but there are still good ones. Kameo is really under rated. That game is surprisingly fun and good. Perfect Dark is great, if you like sports games (like many people) there are a ton of games to pick, from football to hockey to soccer. And there are racing games too.
There aren't any RPGs now, but they are working on it. And I'm sure they will deliver.
The 360 is having major issues with backwards compatibility. Take that in to account and the fact that Japanese gamers don't care that much about American sports games (well...maybe a little) and they are also not too keen on first person shooters, its easy to see why it flopped. Also, since the original X-Box sold so poorly in Japan then a good portion of the gamers wouldn't need backwards compatibility as they never had an X-Box in the first place.

The backwards compatibility is a key feature, and one of the reasons I bought it. And to those that did get an original x box, they can be rewarded and can play their old favorites.
Yes, they are having some compatibility issues, I know this first hand, but they have ways to fix it. You go online and download something. I'm too lazy to do it/don't want to, so I'm not going to worry about it.
The system is more geared toward Americans clearly, but there are still good games out. Just because there isn't any jaw dropping games doesn't mean that they aren't worth a play. The RPGs and other weird stuff they like will come, they just need to give it some time. They shouldn't discredit the whole system due to the launch titles.

Well the Xbox has to deal with the fact that Sony basically will out release Microsoft in terms of RPGs and 'weird stuff'(i guess Katamari would be an example of weird stuff) and it's got an uphill battle. The Ps2 alone will probally have more rpgs in it's first quarter than the xbox 360 will have in a year or maybe even several years.

American sport games wouldn't sell well in Japan because who in Japan would know who most of the people were? It like if a Japanese baseball or wrestling game was sent over here, alot of people would confused by who was who. You can always override this by adding Mario(*rolls eyes*).
I GOT A ****ING DS!!! Sorry bout that, thought I'd share, so far I'm having a blast I can't believe how addicted I am to this handheld(I baught Meteos and Mario Kart with it)..I haven't owned/had a handheld system for almost a decade and I'm glad I braught my gaming back on with this amazing hand held
japanese games are cool but they got some weird games...like on g4 I saw this restaurant game where you had to cook for all these people and at one point, one of the players didnt pay atttention to one of the customers and the customer got really really big and red and angry and ran out....it scared me.

Congratulations nizzak...
Enjoy Advance Wars DS.
As for me, the call of the DS was always tempting, but I'm swearing it off until the big sequel to the GBA, as in something with PSP's technology but not with the crappy games.

I've been literaly playing Meteos for like 8 hours today man I love my DS but for anyone who has gotten all the planets for Meteos i have a question, do you have to keep playing the story mode and different paths to get more kinds of meteos to fuse em and make more planets?..cause I've been playing all day and nothing has happend yet.
OMFG I just bought Advance Wars DS literally like 2 hours ago!
Haven't really gotten into it yet though!
Man, that game, unbelievable.
I loved the first two, and that game would be like, the only reason I'd get a DS, since there aren't many other good Tactics games on it I can see.

Has anyone else had backwards compatibility issues with their 360? I have Fable: The Lost Chapters, KOTOR, and Soul Calibur 2, and none of them work.
It says I can go on this website to download something to make it work, which is fine with me, but do I need X Box live to do this? If so, how do I set it up?
Hey guys, sorry to tell you this but I've kind of gotten bored with magic and I think I'm going to quit. Whether its a permanent quit or not I don't know but its been fun arguing with you guys for the past year or so, if any of you ever wish to argue about why Nintendo is better than all the other gaming companies, I'm on AIM screenname- uttermadness01 feel free to add me because I really like this thread but quitting magic means quitting this site. Peace out guys, Nintendo rules.

Late to the party but I finally got RE4! Woo! It is indeed really awesome. I thought I'd miss the zombies but enemies that work together is cool too. Though it sorta is more of an action game than anything else, which feels like an odd departure. Oh well.

Uhhh I added you long ago just to talk to you about games, i think you blocked me though...either way you're not returning so chances are you're not gonna read this but w/e oh and congrats on RE4 which is one of the best cube games since Metroid Prime 1 and 2
Just wondering, but anyone who has a 360, or you having problems with backward compatibility?? Is there something you have to download on to the machine? If so, do I need x box live to do it?
I hope I don't need x box live, because I have not a clue on how to set it up.

My friend does, yes. Many of his games still don't work. He mentioned something about having to burn off a cd from Microsoft's website with the necessary emulators or something.

You sir are a savior. My computer wouldn't let me burn the program onto a disk, but I called MS and they are sending me one. Thank you so much, I would have never figured it out. You're awesome Mikey, thanks.
