I think he's under the impression that it's not illegal to have a rom if you get rid of it after a day, which I think is just a myth. It certainly lessens you chances of getting caught, but I think it's still illegal no matter how long you have the rom.
Though it's not like a company's going to be concerned over you having a rom for a 12 year old game.

Actually I think the whole 24 hour rom thing had something to do with a law passed awhile ago by Clinton.

Nope, that's a myth (and yes, I did check more sources than just Wiki). The law (in America, at least) has changed since then. It's illegal to own a copy of a game such as a rom unless it is for archival purposes only. All other rom use is deemed illegal. The emulators themselves are largely legal themselves, but the roms are not. Even if you only have them for a day. Though copyright holders are less apt to pursue you over an older game than a newer one. It's still technically illegal.
Ya, sorry for competely going in the other direction, but if any of you guys have a 360, at least give Kameo a rent. I was playing it yesterday and the day before, and it is actually pretty good. It came with my system when I got it from Costco, and I didn't think much of it, but it really is pretty good.
A little short, but there is a lot of variety and some cool stuff to do.
And, I was pissed to find out that my 360 wouldn't play Knights of the Old Republic. There's 20 bucks down the shi**er.
It said I could go on a website and put in a patch or whatever, but I didn't want to/don't know how. Has anyone ever done that?

Are you serious? KOTOR isn't one of the compatible games on the lineup!? A Platinum hit?! :slant:

Thats the thing. I could almost swear it was one of the compatible games. That's why I bought the game. They said on Gamespot that it was, and they all of the really popular games were going to be backwards compatible. Maybe it's just my system, who knows. Now I have to get rid of this game and at least try to salvage my 20 bucks.

You should have just bought it for the pc. That way you can get all the updates and patches.
I had no clue it came out for PC. I usually don't buy games for my computer, come to think of it, I think the last game I bought was warcraft 3. I might check it out though.

It's the same price($20) as well. Plus if you liked it the sequel is now only $30.
The 360 does NOT play JSRF.
Dunno about Shenmue [didn't like the first one too much], but it doesn't play JSRF.
This is one of the reasons I don't have an XBOX 360. Else I'd be tempted.
As-is, though, I'm just gonna buy an XBOX when the price drops to DC levels, which should be relatively soon.

Does the 360 play JSRF or Shenmue II?!?! If not then thats just ****ed up
I don't even know what JSRF even is, so I don't know, same with Shenmue II. My grandma bought me Fable the Lost Chapters for Christmas, and I have no idea if that will work. It should, but I don't know. Halo 2 worked fine, so I hope to not waste anymore money on games that aren't backwards compatible.
I actually got it on the release date. It's supposed to be a Christmas present from my mom and grandma, because my step dad can't handle it if I buy stuff like that. So, to save all the arguing and drama, I bought it and had my grandma just wrap it up for Christmas. I've played it though, it works good, hasn't blown up (knocking on wood). I love it, it's great.
I just wish that damn star wars game worked. It was supposed to be backwards compatible but oh well. Hopefully it's just that game and not a bunch of others. I like that I can get the best of both worlds. The top x box games, and still have the new 360 games.
Ya, that's really bad. The really stupid thing I think is that Japan has tens of thousands of consoles over there, and all of those would be gone if they were here in America. Many people still want some, but MS just had to send waaaayyyyy more than needed over seas.
What a waste. Every last one of those would be gone if they were here in America. Too bad. Maybe MS will learn one day that they won't penetrate the Japanese market, especially with games that they don't like on the release.
I always tend to think the Japanese have horrible taste in video games and anime.
They always love weird little niche games involving busty schoolgirls or odd fetishes, or Pokemon games, and don't get me started about their lame taste in anime, hell, the Japanese audience generally didn't like what are now considered the greatest animes, FLCL, Eva, Hellsing, Berserk, etc, instead opting for harem animes and hentai or just lameness.

TFE, you just won funniest member so I'm going to assume that the above comments are jokes...
Japan just has pickier gamers who actually read about a console before buying it. The 360 had no good release game, was buggy and the only improvement from X-Box was graphics. Why would anybody who cares about their gaming as much as the Japanese buy one?
And don't call me out on the "No good release games" statement because you know its true. Name me one game that isn't a sequel or generic.

As long as you grab a good emulator, you should be able to get on Limewire and find a .rar or .zip with tons of games in it...
