I've been thinking about finally getting back into League now I'm done with study. I've only ever played casually, and not since season 2. How is Yorick these days?

He actually has seen a bit of competitive play recently, MVP Ozone was using him well but they seem to be shifting over to Nasus more now because spirit fire is bull****.
His biggest problem is that he pretty much does nothing late game if your ADC (or certain high dps spellcasters like ryze or karthus) aren't doing well. All he is is his ult. His early game isn't quite as strong as it used to be but it's still strong.
They're looking to rework him because of the ADC reliance and unfair laning things.

Ah, fair enough. Sounds like he's still similar enough to where he was that I can ease back into things.
Finally getting good ranked games. My last one was complete stomp, our ziggs 1v3d hec/lb/ali at one point and 1 for 1d lb, and our j4 once dove past t2 + inhib turrets to 1v4 came out 1 for 1, almost lived even. I also played pretty well, I love those lee games where your first gank pops a flash and still gets first blood.
How is 3s? I like it because I can play with my nephew without ****ing up my MMR in normals. I love playing darius there, as getting darius top makes me camped 24/7. He is just so fun. I don't know if it'd be any good, but I'd like to try maybe if you need another player.
EDIT: Just bought Zed, wasn't sure if he is my playstyle.
He is very strong, I went 16/4/0. That and I wanna try him in ranked soon.
Also cause of 77Hawk7, I decided to give jungle karthus a try, I won two games of normals in a row, ending my bad luck and decided to try it in ranked where I did well again and we won. I'm happy.
His ult is an auto attack reset, so firing it in between auto's is a perfectly sound strategy, especially if you get Tri-force on Corki, which used to be the popular thing to do, for that very reason.
Also, like Corki's ult, MF's Q is an AA reset, so why wouldn't you use it during a fight?
In other words, like has happened in 90 percent of releases in this AND in MTG, you can't call something crap or OP until it's been out and played with for awhile.
What is an "AA reset"? Why would your Auto-attack need a reset? Isn't it pretty much constant rapid-fire damage? It's not like there's a cooldown between AA's. How is a reset applied?
Also, how long does Riot usually wait before deciding to Nerf a Champ? Master Yi's rework was only out for like, what, 2 weeks and they decided to nerf him?
I've been thinking about finally getting back into League now I'm done with study. I've only ever played casually, and not since season 2. How is Yorick these days?
Idk how he was before, but I got destroyed be him in 3v3's recently, he seems to be really good in Top lane in 5v5's too!

How do you play "ranked" 3's? Do you have to have a team? I've seen that there is ranked, but it seems like you NEED to have a premade team. Can you have more than just 3 people on your team?
Speaking of 3v3's and Yi, I never did well with him when he was OP and everone was playing him. But, since they nerfed him, it seems like I've been kicking butt.
Last night, I played 3v3 TT and it was:
Yi (me), Elise, Teemo
vs
Volibear, Diana and Nidalee.
Elise started the game saying "This Yi" to the enemy team, I'm assuming she was implied I was playing poorly/sucked, because I didn't save her when she was engaging 2 or 3 members of the Enemy team.
Regardless, I went 16/4 and felt pretty much like the old OP Yi. I also had a CS of roughly 200, while most of my allies and enemies were around 50.
What is an "AA reset"? Why would your Auto-attack need a reset? Isn't it pretty much constant rapid-fire damage? It's not like there's a cooldown between AA's. How is a reset applied?
When you attack there is a delay. Lets say the delay is (this is all an example) 5 seconds. It would be 1 second to bring down your axe and slice down, then 4 more second to bring the axe back up to it's original position before doing the 1 second again to attack. An auto attack reset skips that animation to do something, then brings you back to default. lets say you have an ability that twirls you around for 1 second and resets you auto attack timer this could happen:
1 second to bring the axe down
-1 AA worth of damage
1 second of twirling that brings you back to original
1 second to bring the axe down
-1 AA worth of damage.
So in 3 seconds you did two auto attacks worth of damage (you attacked twice
where the normal is
1 second to bring the axe down
-1 AA worth of damage
4 second of bringing you back to original
1 second to bring the axe down
-1 AA worth of damage.
Which is 6 seconds for the same amount.
Now in game, it's not that much, usually you get around 1 AA per second if you don't build much Attack speed, but it allows you two in that period.
Another cool thing about it, you know how wards have 3 hp? You can only hit them twice. If you have an AA reset, you can Auto attack them, Auto attack them, and use it which lets you attack a third time before it goes invisible, letting you clear a ward alone. Leona can do it.

I think the answer is No I think you can solo (I'll check now, woops it seems you are right, 3s teams only) and usually you can have 10 people on a team, so yes you can be more than 3.

An aa reset is something that resets the animation of the autoattack(nasus q, leona q, shyvana q etc.), which is faster than normal auto-attacking(it removes the pause between attacks). In this case he means to say that using Corki's missiles during the pause between autoattacks is like reseting the auto.
Bronze is seriously the worst, it doesn't matter if I play hyper carries and get super farmed(oh god my trist stats), it doesn't matter if I snowball all the other lanes, it just seems like people don't want to win. Last game I played in, I asked for jungle or ad, and everyone else called top. Our first pick locked in Malphite, second and third pick locked in Darius and Jax. The whole time our Jax was *****ing to our last pick about "following pick order". I do my best to sort things out and get people to calm down, I ask one of them to jungle and give up ad to last pick to calm him down.
We get into the game and Jax proclaims that it doesn't matter what lane or champ he plays against, he'll beat anyone. He then proceeds to go mid and die, a lot. He goes 0/5 and ragequits...when the rest of our lanes were winning...
It was a 20 min surrender and I got -20 for that game.

Someone already touched on resetting it with things like Poppy/Nasus/Shy/Trundle Q, however there is a way to shorten your auto attack as irelia as well.
Irelia's attack animation is longer than her actually attack. It is possible to right click on a minion, have the attack animation start and as soon as you see the damage, right click somewhere else to move and cancel the remaining animation. After the attack animation is cancelled, you can start the process over again. This is why you see many good players seem to walk consistently while hitting a enemies.

I'm hella salty right now.
that Jax was an idiot, why ragequit so early in the game? It was too soon to tell the outcome of the game.
Multiple times we managed to push back and win from near impossible comebacks, our enemies did the same thing too! So why do people ragequit so easily?

I agree. I don't get why people Ragequit at all! I mean, I get upset when I don't do well. BUT, it doesn't make any sense to Quit? Why? You can't play for another 30 min or so after you quit, and eventually you could get banned. So, why not just play out until 20 min and then surrender.

While we're talking about moving whilst attacking, it's a good skill to have for a ranged ad, being in constant motion while dishing out damage is a great way to keep yourself in a safe position.

I dunno, there's always a path to victory, but people just don't seem to see it. Even when I play with a premade team, they just get so downcast when the beginning of the game goes sour, no matter how much I try to lift their spirits they just won't be able to give it their all. I guess some people just go on tilt easily.
Decided to try my hands at another game in this hellhole that is Bronze. Get into the lobby and say my usual "ad or jungle pref", everyone else asks for jungle or top, no one wants to support, but the last pick resigns himself to it. First pick locks in jungle Aatrox, second pick locks in Riven top, then it comes to me and our fourth pick, who had asked for top originally but said he'd play anything but support. He instalocks Ashe. Whatever, I can play mid as well, it's just odd that he said he'd play anything but support and choose to take the role I asked for when other were available.
I lock in Ahri and last pick decides on Fiddle support. The game loads in and Riven and I leash red for Aatrox, Riven stays too long and leeches some xp, and Aatroxs gets pissed off, he then heads top and tower dives the enemy Kha'zix at lvl 2, after sharing the lane with Riven for a bit(she wasn't happy). The dive goes poorly, and then Aatrox spends the rest of the game roaming the map and taxing the lanes, leaving Riven to get destroyed top. I start out the game strong, with a couple early kills on their jungler and support. Botlane continues to feed Draven like mad, despite Aatrox camping their lane.
To cut the story short, game went long, I ended with a score of 13/6/14 and a loss caused by toxic behavior and lack of game knowledge. Again, I spend the entire game trying to settle people down and get them to play their best, but all anyone wants to do is argue.
I feel like I should be able to carry these games, but even if I start out strong, and remove pressure from my other lanes, we still end up with a loss.

Eh it doesn't get much better even at gold tbh. My last game I played Orianna mid against a zed and was doing well, didn't die out csed him and pushed his tower down. So I left lane 0/0/0 and Zed left lane 8/0.
Funny part of all this was what team chat looked like...

There where times when we had the entire river warded literally from mid lane to top and bot and you could see Zed going the entire time and even with pings warning and mia calls peolpe are like "no communication this ori so bad." How idiots this bad are able to get to gold is beyond me
It gets better and worse as you go up. At gold, you get uncommunicative teammates, you get ragers, feeders, the same as before. That said, though, on average your teammates are less likely to just plain feed (even if they're getting blown out in lane) and more likely to be able to play from behind.
At Bronze, if you're good enough, you can just carry the game despite that stuff - when I carried my way out of Bronze, I went 23-3 in 26 games playing Ashe (I had dropped way below my 'true' elo due to a horrible internet connection that would lag out for 8-10 seconds every few minutes for over 6 months). Even if enemies got super fed, they generally didn't know how to use that to their advantage to win the game... and I did.
At Gold, if an enemy Zed or Jayce or Zac is super fed, they WILL know how to use that to win the game, and unless I'm a lot more fed, I won't be able to carry a horrible teammate. But it's not as frequent that I have that super feeder teammate at gold (at bronze, it was *every* game and often two).
Here are some stats on active players that I gathered from lolsummoners.com for Active Ranked Players on North America.
Number of Challenger Players - 50 0.00599% Number of Diamond Players - 11,973 1.43395% Number of Platinum Players - 36,108 4.32448% Number of Gold Players - 111,061 13.30124% Number of Silver Players - 366,371 43.87850% Number of Bronze Players - 309,404 37.05584% Total Number of Active Players - 834,967 (Royal Blue denotes percent of active players at that level)
The biggest bottlenecking occurs at Diamond I (double the number of DII) and Bronze I. The rest of the levels don't seem to have a bottlenecking issue.
Other than Bronze, each tier V has by far the largest number of players for the level.
Each tier II is the smallest tier at that level.
Oh wow... the breakdowns are way different than what I had thought. Thanks for posting it. Gold & Silver are very different from Gold & Silver pre-ranked rework.
He's one of the Champs that I like, and I did play him on his Free week, and did okay.
However, I heard someone say you shouldn't play him unless you have a LOT of time to get good at him. Is this always the case? I played him Mid a few times during his Free Week and did decent (I think I ended something like 6-4 or something) and my team won.
Idk, just want your thoughts, but I'm probably going to buy him regardless.
Also, is there a way to see your entire Match history or find out when you started/quit playing? I'm guessing at this point I've been playing for 2-2.5 months.
Regarding Fizz, yes. Don't play Fizz unless you're going to play Fizz a lot, but if you play Fizz a lot, you can do some really insane things with him.
P.s. Tri Force Draven has promise. More info later - but I will say that it's really satisfying outrunning a charging volibear in a foot race.

It's pretty easy to get a hang of. We just need a dedicated jungler and gold should be fairly easy.
