I am really bored and need something to do in my life. All i really do is play Magic, Work, and hang out with my friends. What I need is a good video game in my life. I used to play runescape but now that is awful. I am not really a fan of World of Warcraft type games...
I need a MMORPG to play! Somebody give me a good one to try out!
Given that we don't know what you're looking for in an mmo, I'm just gonna recommend you go to warcry.com and use the stuff there to decide for yourself.

Not liking "World of Warcraft" type mmos is pretty vague. Most mmos tend to try to copy WoW in some fashion but do certain aspects "better" or at least different. I'm guessing its the grind you don't like but you could mean anything from its raid emphasis to PK-ing to fact that its 3D to too many skill choices but not really.
Some not WoW-like games:
Guild Wars 1 is my favorite MMO to date. Not really an MMO in the traditional sense; party sizes vary from 4 to 12 max, all pve zones are instanced, there is no interacting with other players outside town hubs where you can form parties, nor is it in 3D technically. Still, it does benefit from having a huge pool of distinct playable classes and skills to interact with, an amazing plot by RPG standards let alone MMO standards, and quite a bit of playable content for dirt cheap. It is a pay once MMO with a small microtransaction section that offers nothing but cosmetics. Guild wars is kind of dead now though.
Guild Wars 2 is a pay once mmo masterpiece in the sense that it takes the persistent world approach and makes interacting with other people enjoyable. There's no loot stealing, no pqing, and the constant flow of dynamic events makes partying completely impromptu and really fun. GW2 has also done away with the traditional class roles of tank/dps/healer in favor of a more Korean approach to classing where every class has their own special gimmick and can function perfectly fine in a team made up of anything. It has jumping puzzles too. I personally don't like Guild Wars 2 because of its reduced emphasis on story, dungeon diving consisting of nothing but million hp boss slogs, and a minimal skill pool compared to its predecessor. BUT WHO CARES ABOUT THAT AMIRITE A-NET.
I would bring up Dungeon Fighter Online but Nexon has killed it in America. Rusty Hearts is Perfect World entertainments equivalent. Its a "3d" F2P dungeon crawler with heavy emphasis on combat prowess. Warframe is like this too, only with guns and space ninjas. Grind heavy, instanced pve with no pqing.
Maplestory is 2D F2P WoW with lots of micro transactions. I hate this one too but i have a friend who hates 3D MMOs who loves this thing for some reason so it bears a mention. VERY VERY grind heavy, persistent world, 2D, full of hackers.
Guild Wars 2 is my recommendation till I see how Elder Scrolls Online turns out.
Not being a fan of World of Warcraft type games is like saying you want an MMORPG without it being an MMORPG...
You could try going to MMORPG.com to get an idea about other MMOs out there. My only recommendations for MMORPGs are the ones I've played:
World of Warcraft (obviously you wouldn't like it)
Tera (grindfest with lollis)
Aion (grindfest with angels and "fallen" angels)
Guild Wars 1 & 2 (more story based)
Star Wars: The Old Republic (neat cameos and light/dark side system)
City of Heroes/Villains (probably not around anymore)
Out of all of the MMOs I've played, Guild Wars 2 and Aion were probably the most satisfying. GW2 because of the immersive storyline personalized towards your character and Aion because of the innovating combat system. Take a look at both of them and see what you would like.
Champions Online, you make a superhero. The costume design is really fun but the gameplay is slow and boring (imo). The game has gone Free-to-Play with micro transactions for more classes/costumes/powers etc. You can subscribe and pretty much get all that stuff. Free to try out and have fun with making a character.
Guild Wars 1 was way better than GW2 imo.
GW1 was based around leveling with other players or AI party members (henchman) in instanced zones. Tons and tons of builds and character combinations that made PvE and PvP very diverse and exciting.
GW2 has a very unique feel to it. I found the zones designed well, lots of fun jumping puzzles, innovative quest system. The skills feel pretty unsatisfying compared to GW1, or even WoW. Hard to describe unless you play it. You basically have a set of 3-5 skills depending on what weapon you have out....Instead of picking what skills you want to play, it's like playing Fire Mage.....Or Ice Mage......Or Arcane Mage. With only a few spells per choice. High paced action, very high skill. Well designed game but the skill system was just too different from traditional imo.
Rift is a WoW clone. But a very good one. Very well done.
Star Wars The Old Republic is a wow clone. Also very well done.
Non-MMO: There is Path of Exile (PoE) a Diablo 2 style game that's free to play with micro-transaction for new skins/fireball effects. Very grindy but fun and super super in-depth and hardcore. Want to just relax and have fun? Try PoE.
Let me know if you find something fun. I don't like much of what is out right now either.
Honestly if you don't like Wow you probably aren't going to like any of the other mmorpgs.
You may just be looking for an RPG.
The best out right now available now are
Dragon Age Origins (probably the best all around, nearly perfect game imo)
Dragon Age 2 (improved on origins in some areas, but failed to match in "epicness" and feeling of a "journey", it's much shorter and a lot of people disliked the "hub" as you spend most of your time visiting the same sewer/island/cave scenery over and over, but it's still a great game)
Dark Souls (very difficult learning curve and overall unforgiving game, if you get frustrated easily, you won't like it, awesome multiplayer pvp tho) (PS3/360, PC has a lot of issues even with the fixes, and u need a controller to play comfortably...having said that, it's probably the best game of all of these if you like difficult games)
Mass Effect 2 and 3 (much more action with rpg elements, but fantastic games and mass effect 3 multiplayer is awesome)
Deus Ex:Human Revolution
Skyrim (pretty lousy story and not engaging, but there's plenty to do and a lot of people like it)
Kingdoms of Amalur (awesome combat, but once you level a few times the game becomes pretty easy)
Honestly if you don't like Wow you probably aren't going to like any of the other mmorpgs.
I think it's pretty sad how true these statements are. MMOs have become so stagnant - the entire MMO genre simply continues to try and emulate the WoW model. The possibilities of online worlds are so phenomenal, but all we get are more theme park MMOs, complete with quest hubs and gear tiers to slog through.
But I guess it's to be expected. MMOs, even non-AAA ones, are incredibly expensive to develop. No one wants to take risks when that kind of cash is on the line.
Modern world based MMO, it's F2P (B2P if you want all the additional issues). Not class/race based, as you play as a human who can eventually learn all the abilties of the weapons available.

Hewo wittle fishy!
There is Champions Online if you like super hero
if it all about the "fantasy" side of WoW, then you have Star War Old Republic
you can always check www.mmorpg.com to see a big list of mmo that exist out there and see what fits your taste
Eve Online
Moral Online
Ultima Online (tons of free shards out there)
