Anyone else here playing Blops2? I am surprised there isn't a thread here yet. As a pretty big fan of the series, and someone that got tired of it after MW2, I find Blops2 the best yet and much needed refreshment of the series. Maps are much better than MW3 imo (not as good as MW2 though), guns are good, class system is sweet with the pick 10, and I like score streaks better than kill streaks, even as a person with a decent K/D ratio. Oh yeah and Zombies!!! Overall I am having a lot of fun with it, and it's in 3D which combined with my surround Headphones and mouse controller for PS3, its a lot of fun! I know there are going to be Haters (I have BF3, all CoD's, and play CS:Go to) , but if you are a fan of the series and we're holding out on blops2, I highly recommend it. What are your (unbiased) thoughts on it?

I like it so far although treyarch has stepped on a lot of toes
* Domination now has 2 rounds, but no tiebreaker, what?
* only 4 hardcore modes
* ghost only works while moving, REALLY?! so because of camper whiners you completely neutered real sniping...
* Bugs everywhere, lag comp is the worst I've ever seen out of any cod title. I've emptied four shots into people and then just instadropped before even seeing them fire. When I look at the killcam they were firing like crazy but I never saw them shoot once.
* Maps are claustrophobic hellholes, every open space has like five passages to it, every one occupied by some corner camping AR user because they can't get kills otherwise, SMGs are so broken right now
* No footsteps. I can't even begin to explain how many times I've been shot in the back because of this...
Can't wait to get home, mine is waiting in the mail room. Hope I don't have any lag issues. I pre-ordered on Newegg, do I get anything special and if so how do I get it?
I'll be picking mine up next week. Prepare your buttholes. I'm coming.

Mhjames: mtgsalvation: I DON'T SEE HOW THIS CARD IS GOOD. I KNOW PATRICK CHAPIN USED IT AND WENT 8-0, BUT THAT WAS A SMALL TOURNAMENT. THE CARD IS TOO SLOW. YOU NEED TO MAKE SURE THE OPPONENT HAS A SPELL IN THE GRAVEYARD
Has the best short range gun for CQC (MSMC), and imo the best AR for taking out snipers as well as fellow run and gunners, giving me a huge advantage in a game rampant with both. The target funder on the M8 is lolz. I feel like I can adapt my style how I want with this class, run and gun or post up and defend a flag etc without having to switch classes either.
Love this game, definitely my favorite yet. Bout to prestige and will unlock the M8A1 first. The PDW can carry me til I get to 28 for the MSMC but the M8 is my shizz...

My personal unbiased thoughts on it are that it is largely underwhelming in Campaign and Multiplayer. Zombies is fun as ever but that's it.
The campaign seems to be the worst one yet since CoD 4. The Strike Force missions are a joke. The branching path storyline is very shallow and unnecessary--it could be part of the reason why I didn't enjoy the story. The part with the guy yelling "Josefina!" over and over and OVER while butchering about 100 soldiers with a machete and shotgun just left me shaking my head and wondering what people enjoy in this series.
Multiplayer... Multiplayer is suffering from Maddenitis. The pick 10 system is cute and probably a step up from past offerings but it's the same game. If you played CoD 4 multiplayer you've played Blops 2. 9/10 people just run and gun with an SMG and then the other one person sits prone the whole match with a sniper rifle and proxy mines. The lag is the worst it's been in awhile, and I'm not the only one who's said this. Why haven't they upgraded the engine? The environments do look a bit cleaner I'll give them that but everything else looks the exact same to me.
I could go on but I'll stop there. I'm not trying to troll the thread but this is my honest opinion.

Beauty of mine, sit before me. Let me peruse you and remember you... always like this.
Since I only got into CoD with the original Black Ops, and since Blops and MW3 felt sufficiently different to me, I'm not burned out on the series yet by any means. I'll be getting BOpsII for Christmas and hopefully the lag comp issues will be patched by then.
I don't mind what I hear about SMGs being OP since they're pretty much all I use anyways... I love to rush in Domination and cap as many flags as possible.
Still, I have to wonder how the **** they put a lightning strike killstreak in a game set a mere 13 years in the future. I didn't think we were that close to Zeus level tech.

I haven't played the campaign but they are keeping the multi player is a lot better than in the past and love that it's not a camp fest (MW2/3). I like run n guning myself though and find the MP the funnest since WaW. Won't be for everyone but I still love it...

With this class I mainly get to a high traffic areas and camp with the M8 and claymore's and shock charges watching back. I have the MSMC for close quarters and scavenger refills my M8 ammo and my mines. Basically try to get my scorestreaks as fast as possible.
Okay, so I just got this a couple days before Christmas and have been playing domination almost exclusively. Only got about fifty matches under my belt so far as a very determined rusher (I almost always get at least one Opening Move medal per match). Interestingly enough my K/D ratio is pathetic (less than .7) but my win/loss ratio is better than 1.5... that's the effect of playing the objective, I suppose. I don't mind dying three or four times in a row if it means I can secure a flag.
So far I'm loving this game. It seems like they really fixed a lot of the problems from past CoD titles (most notably the overpowered Ghost/Assassin perks) and the Pick 10 system is awesomely deep.
Right now I'm typically running:
MP-7 w/ suppressor and fast mags
No secondary
Flak Jacket, Fast Hands and Dexterity
Danger Close Wildcard for 2x Semtex
Smoke Grenade
This is my ideal build so far for capping flags. Run in quick; throw down some smoke to cover myself; toss a couple grenades quickly in the direction of the enemy and hope for the best; survive the enemy's grenades thanks to Flak Jacket. Then I can sometimes take cover and defend the flag for a while thanks to the suppressor.

I stopped playing it. It's a noob-fest. Neutering the ghost/assassin stuff and giving us ARs that aren't all that great compared to some of the SMGs means that everyone's running around corners spraying like idiots.
I also don't like how much better the riot shields are in this game. I was running with my normal squad which includes some good players including one who has a 5.5 k/d in MW3. We were playing Domination against a team that had two players with riot shields. Our cumulative K/D was something like 2 to 1 against them but taking out the riot shield guys required so much lead in the air that we barely had time to take control points ourselves and frequently got pinned down.
In answer to the obvious question - no I don't think that any particular amount of skill or cleverness was exercised by those scrubs. A 5 year old could've done what those two jokers were doing.
I also think that the way Kill Confirmed is scored is a joke. It seems to me that they basically wanted everyone running around like a doofus. I recognize that some people LIKE to play that way. Whatever.
As a former competitive COD player - I resent misconceptions about styles of play that often get labeled as camping. My heyday was in CODUO (the first game + expansion) and I played mostly TDM. Pub server TDM is completely different from competitive TDM. My squad got as high as 2nd overall on the TWL ladder. At that level the players are so good that you get killed instantly if you make too much noise or get too far from cover. We often played rounds where the final score was like 10 - 6. Literally 16 kills total in the entire round. (we actually played one round that we won 2 - 0 and it was very intense. Awesome round. One of my favorite memories from playing with that team.)
That's TDM mind you. SnD is a little bit different because it's got an objective. There's an objective inducing you to take a small amount of risk. Of course that's limited by the fact that you don't respawn.
But even in Domination and Kill Confirmed you're not impressing me if you go 40-25. That's the kind of score that you only rack up when you're playing against terrible players. You need to go 35 and 4 AND get the most caps. If you're aware of what's going on, manage your risks and utilize cover effectively then you can accomplish something like that. Your opponents are going to get killed by you a lot and every time they get killed they're going to see you peeking around a corner or over a barrel. That's not camping - that's using cover. Using a silencer or Assassin to hide your presence isn't cowardly - it's how you prevent some noob with a shotgun from bum-rushing you over and over again until you don't have ammo left to defend yourself.
The fact that you respawn in these gametypes is already reward enough for a player to do things that aren't smart. There's no need to keep dumbing the game down in favor of noob-tubing (and grenade spam). There's too much of that crap.
All that said - I did enjoy using the crossbow. I like that it's a reliable one-hit kill with iron-sights instead of scope. I also like that it is somewhat effective against the riot shield.
Just max prestiged this pile of a game the other night. Lag and core gameplay issues made it a chore last two prestiges. I really stopped having fun with it.
Anyway, putting it down with a career 2.15 KDR playing primarily Domination and rushing, always rushing. I can live with that.
