No one outside of Blizzard really knows when it comes to Inferno's level of solo friendliness, but I believe it's been stated that there's a good chance most players/classes will need to have fairly solid Hell level gear to tackle it successfully. It's also where the best drops are found, and *everything* in it has a chance to drop something awesome, so it won't even just be a matter of trying to do Inferno/Act 4 boss runs. Especially if they incorporate the feature they're working on where killing Champion packs (I believe) improves your boss drops, giving you a bonus on what you get the more of them that you've killed leading up to said boss battle.
Details on that last bit are mostly unknown, but Blizzard is making a distinct effort to avoid "_____ run 10341 gogogo" like happened in D2/LoD.
Since monsters scale up in difficulty (hp, damage dealt, maybe even some mechanical changes) with the number of players, but not full 100% per, it may well be that playing with 4 players in Inferno is more viable than solo'ing it, and could well have better rewards, but that boost to damage output could also lead to more frequent deaths as well. For Hardcore players in particular, that's going to be a tough balance to weigh out.
that is good to hear i hated running meph, baal, over and over again. glad that boss packs are going to put out good gear as well.
i don't care they got rid of that stupid rune system that is all that matters.
I don't see how this changes much. We go from killing the same boss over and over to clearing a certain dungeon level over and over hoping to get elite mob packs.

I completly misunderstood the announcment the first time I read it, never mind what I said earlier. This system seems pretty good. Wish it was available pre lvl 60.

I just hope you still have the ability to mf solo like in D2 so you aren't always dependent on having friends online or resorting to playing with randoms.

"No one may threaten or commit violence ('aggress') against another man's person or property. Violence may be employed only against the man who commits such violence; that is, only defensively against the aggressive violence of another. In short, no violence may be employed against a nonaggressor. Here is the fundamental rule from which can be deduced the entire corpus of libertarian theory." - Murray Rothbard, Cited from "War, Peace, and the State"

The game requires you to be online mostly to help ensure dupes are far less possible and to keep the game more secure.
The game still can be soloed to completion and you never have to play with a single other player for at least the first 3 difficulties.
The 4th difficulty that was added might require a party we are not sure yet Blizzard has been a bit wishy washy about that difficulty.

not if they have the spawn rates distributed evenly.
but it means that you have a better oppertunity to run into decent loot and on the fact that you don't have to constantly run boss levels to get it.
if you want to run boss level is is cool, but take diablo's seals they each have a boss pack and they would have the same oppertunity to drop rare good items as diablo.
D2 was horrible at even loot distribution. i think they realized this and evened it out somewhat.
seeing how a pack of minions with iron madain could kill you in like 1 hit. i could solo baal with my barb, but a boss pack with iron madian forget it. i am like Holy Grail "Run away Run away." that or the lightning aura.
i think they did away with that arua.

There is one change I would like to see them make, and I would like to ask if they have.
And that is to make hostility mutual.
Make it the same as inviting someone to join your party, so that both players have to confirm hostility. That instantly makes all non-duel PKing impossible.
In a world where companies like Capcom lock half of the roster for Capcom X Tekken and then doll it out in DLC, I have no problem with 60 bucks for a full game and 30 for an expansion.
Are you serious man? I have, and many other like me have played Diablo 2 + LoD regularly since release. That's over TEN YEARS AGO. Do you know HOW MUCH GAME that is for $100? (xpaks are 40btw). I mean seriously. The $/hr cost is probably an order of magnitude cheaper than than any other form of entertainment of this quality.
I can't believe how someone can say D3 is too expensive when D2 gave tons of players 1000+ hours of gametime.

i do agree that i have no problem spending 60 bucks on a game. in fact i think i bought diablo 2 twice with LOD.
in any event I can't wait for the game to come out. I have been waiting for a good RPG. Since I stopped playing LOTRO i haven't found a replacement.
LOL (league of legends) is ok but the amount of trolls just ruin the game for me. I like playing the new champs they come out with though.

If I recall correctly there is no PK in the sense of what we're used to from D2. Now you have to join/create a "Battle Arena" where there and only there can you duel other players.
No, there is no "world" pvp. It all happens in arenas or eventually 1v1 duels (maybe)
PvP (short for 'player versus player' combat) has had a storied history in the Diablo series. For Diablo III, we've decided to take it in a new direction to ensure that it's deep, organized, frantic, and fun.
Diablo III's PvP battles are fought in arenas spread out across the world of Sanctuary. These arenas aren't random -- they're all unique, designed with differing amounts of terrain and cover. You participate in PvP using the character of your choice, with access to all of the gear and skills you've accumulated playing the game in single-player or cooperative mode.
You'll learn many of the fundamentals of PvP (like how to avoid attacks or target specific foes) by playing the single-player game, but PvP differs in that it isn't an ideal venue for gathering new weapons and armor. Your rewards for shedding blood in the arena are purer than that: bragging rights, the joy of sending friends old and new to their swift and inglorious deaths, and points that represent how far you've progressed on the path to fame and glory.
When you participate in ranked games (fights that pit two opposing teams of players against each other in 'best of' matches), you'll earn points for advancement based on kills, accomplished objectives, wins, and other factors. Points lead to multiplayer achievements, titles, and more. Our system is focused on encouraging furious combat and multiplayer progression, not stringent competitive rankings, so you'll earn points after every match and Battle.net matchmaking will pit you against similarly skilled opponents.
We're also looking into other PvP game types that exist outside the ranking system, like 1-on-1 duels and mutually chosen team battles (for example, you and your friends could divide into two teams for an arena showdown). We'll have more information on the availability of these game types in the future.
Our aim for Diablo III's PvP is to set you up with dangerous, exciting gladiatorial matches, let you battle it out with other players at your own pace, and allow you to proudly display your rewards. We've added a robust system to remove the obstructions that may have kept you out of the action, so that you can focus on what really matters: answering the age-old question of 'who would win in a fight' -- with a gauntlet to the face.

Yup, I was trying to quote the guy waiting on the battlechest, my bad.
Wait... so we can't fight infront of the first town or w/e?
Weird...

Arena's are their top priority on the PVP standpoint since it was supposed to be in at launch.
I know that Diablo 2 had a very strong following of 1v1 so they will likely cater to that crowd eventually with a free patch.
