It's pretty neat but still seems to be going through its growing pains (they have to eventually make rulers a bit easier to come by in packs/boxes). FoW reminds me a bit of mtg commander + the hyper-aggressively costed cards of legacy.

I love how powerful the cards are right now, though. It feels like classic Magic the Gathering in the early years.

1. (Ravnica Allegiance): You can't keep a good esper control deck down... Or Wilderness Reclamation... or Gates...
2. (War of the Spark): Guys, I know what we need! We need a cycle of really idiotic flavor text victory cards! Jace's Triumph...
3. (War of the Spark): Lets make the format with control have even more control!
It provides a good snapshot of FoW's mechanics (pro), but also looks at the game's ongoing translation issues, inexperienced production/distribution team, and the ditch FoW's card design will have to dig itself out of meta-wise (hyper aggro and "equipment" decks dominating, marginalized control, midrange, and combo).
Here's one of the new decks that I've been playtesting lately known as "Scheherazade's Vengeance":
Ruler / J-Ruler (1)
1 Liberator of Wind / Scheherazade, the Teller of 1001 Stories
Resonators (14)
4 Yamata-no-Orochi, the Eight Disasters
4 Prowler of Niflheim
3 Card Soldier "Club"
3 Elvish Bowman
Other Spells (27)
4 Book of Eibon
4 Stories Told in 1001 Nights
4 Rapid Growth
4 Keen Sense
4 Soulhunt
4 Endless Night
3 Jewels on Dragon's Neck
Magic Stones (10)
4 Magic Stone of Black Silence
3 Wind Magic Stone
3 Magic Stone of Darkness
Deck Total (50)
Strategy is to reanimate Yamata-no-Orochi with Book of Eibon while pumping him up with Rapid Growth for game or by taking out your opponent's resonators with Stories Told in 1001 Nights. Prowler of Niflheim, Card Solider "Club", and Soulhunt enables you get Yamata-no-Orochi in your graveyard in order to reanimate it later while J-Activating Scheherazade enables you to get that combo piece you need in order to win.
Jewels on Dragon's Neck and Elvish Bowman are supposed to help me get back Book of Eibon in some way although I might take those out for at least 1 Dance of the Shadows when it comes out in Twilight Wanderer and several other cards which me and a friend of mine haven't figured out yet. So far I've managed to beat Pricia Sacred Beasts by field wiping resonators with Stories while I managed to beat Blazer due to my opponent not running Flame of Outer World.

I agree about the art. Makes it very difficult to get (serious) female players sometimes.
The new set is amazing and a step in the right direction. Regalia.dec killed the FOW scene where I live for a time, but it is on the rebound.

Set is definitely sweet. Some real wonky card evaluations like the Regalia tax card? This doesn't look like a good card at all yet people seem pretty jazzed.
They seem to have printed more Guin answers, which is nice. The removal is pretty jazzy. Also a big fan of the 1(fire) board wipe. Very cool.
The 1(water) 500/500 "destroy target regalia" is dope but regalias might just fall off the face of the earth after this set, or at least disappear for two weeks only to make a resurgence when people don't pack their hate.
Either way, the metagaming is exciting and the deck-theory isn't super flushed out, so brewers like myself can have a blast.
I can see how the blatant fanservice in this game can be a turnoff toward female players who deem it sexist and inappropriate but If they can get past it then they shouldn't have much of a problem. That being said my FOW scene is as active as it was when it first launched in the States while I haven't heard any complaints about Regalia.dec from some of the players at my locals.

Currently fiddling around with Reflect//Refrain lists. While people seem to be going nuts with the Xeex and Morgiana interactions, how nuts is this Ruler with Discard?
Play this alongside:
-- Soulhunt
-- The Scorn of Dark Alice
-- Spiral of Despair
I'm getting into this game, and as a new player, I was looking for some critique on my deck:
Liberator of Wind// Scheherazade, the Teller of 1001 Stories
4x Cheshire Cat
4x Gretel
4x Fiethsing, the Elvish Oracle
2x Susanowo, the Ten-Fist Sword
2x Glinda, the Fairy
4x Xeex the Ancient Magic
4x Exceed, the Ancient Magic
4x Absolute Cake Zone
1x Keen Sense
4x Stories told in 1001 Nights
3x The Beast Queen's Counterattack
4x Deep Blue, the Phantom Board
1x Moojdart, the Fantasy Stone
4x Magic Stone of Deep Wood
5x Wind Magic Stone
Right now it seems to do fine against aggro, but I have a harder time against control, because my opponent may not have a resonator that I can target with Moojdart to cheapen the cost of Susanowo. I have no idea what I need in my sideboard, so that's what I'm mainly hoping to get help on.
I saw this game a long while back at a 2nd and Charles store: just some booster packs. At first I didn't think much of it; I never heard of it before and while I liked how it looked, I doubted it'd gain any traction due to the prevalence of MtG. I feel like I was half-right. It definitely looks like a lot of fun to play (it sort of reminds me of Commander -- of course not the same, but it just pulled that first thought). But as I looked at the cards, I loved the themes they had. And I'm a bit of a sucker for anime/japanese art in general, as well as a sucker for extremely pretty foils.
So, knowing how hard it'd be to actually play it, I put down some for it. Impulsively I also picked up five packs (most recent ones) and actually received two stamped foils out of them, which felt pretty good. While the foils might not be worth anything (I haven't looked yet), it's still a lot nicer to receive something that looks visually appealing and striking in a booster pack. In MtG all I ever pull are junk rares/mythics that stores don't want to take away from me (Besides for the one Gideon, but that was out of two boxes I bought because buy one get one sale >.>).
Either way, I hope it gains traction. I like MtG but I fall out of it easily (I go back, then stop, then go back, which is ultimately more expensive than just constantly playing since I need to recreate a deck each time, and that can cost 200+, even for the cheaper stuff, I've found). And while I don't deny Hearthstone is well put together, I just don't get into it at all. FoW kinda looks like a nice balance between a few TCG's I've played in the past, and it has really striking art, for my tastes, and interesting themes.
I also like the card back design, which I never liked with MtG or most other card games.
Hopefully it picks up where I live in Colorado, it seems like some places host it, though they're a bit on the far-away side.
I've had some fun with this, though I hope I can find some people to play it with other than my brother. I haven't had a chance to go to the closest store that sells it; they don't seem to have tournaments listed on their events but they might have some playgroups having unofficial matches against each other on certain days.
I really do like the removal of mana screw. Though they really need to get some native English speaker to edit the text on their website, as their main site is filled with awkward phrasings that were obviously translated by someone who wasn't that great with English. The cards themselves are translated pretty well, but the website itself needs a real touchup.
I want to try this game with my brother, any suggestions for a couple starter decks to buy to try out the game?
The five starter decks FoW released for their Seven Kings of the Land expansion are a FANTASTIC way to get started in the game. The company really produced some high quality starters with 4x copies of many high value rares and super rares (like the equivalent of magic releasing zendikar precons with 4x copies of gideon and ulamog). I would recommend picking up at least 2, to see if you enjoy the pace of the game, or whether a play style appeals to you.
The FoW reddit is a good resource too for budget builds. I use coolstuffinc for my singles purchases, and their service has been great.
Is says that, but those 5 decks are absolutely ridiculous as far as rares + super rare inclusions. I think by 'exclusives' they meant alternate arts and/or un released cards. The arla one, for instance, contains 4 copies of Artemis, an equipment card that's in practically every deck out there now. Those precons are a fantastic value. We should be so lucky as magic players if wizards released starters like those.

I'm probably going to play a budget Vlad Darkness build with Bows and Arthurs.
Seems fun, intuitive, with a sweet mana system.
The art is... tasteless? Honestly, maybe I just don't get fanboy culture.
Anyway, the new set looks sweet with a lot of cool cards that I would definitely play.

I found this page: http://force-of-will-tcg.wikia.com/wiki/The_Seven_Kings_of_the_Lands
Any of those keywords on the page are the starters to look for?
EDIT: http://force-of-will-tcg.wikia.com/wiki/Seven_Kings
OKay so I want any of those characters listed as "Alice Cluster starter" then?
