CASTLE! Long time no see! Hopefully you'll be back on more regularly, I can't even remember the last thread you were a regular in.
Probably not since before the Dracovitch Dynasty. Parenthood + Death of Desktop Computer + StupidMotherLoving iPhone Forum Interface = Not a lot of forum activity.
BTW Jen, if any of the stereotypical Australia stuff is true, it's the native wildlife he should be worried about.
Hence why I asked where he was planning on travelling. Chances are most stereotypes are true somewhere in the country. That said, don't bother packing your kangaroo-riding pants or extra shrimp for the barbie.
I am not proud to say I spent a little too long looking for a way to change it back before realizing why the green is here. I suppose it's not so bad, except for my dislike of the color green.
Welcome back Castle! Do you have Skype? Would you like to become a part of our group skype chat? Would you like to answer a question at the chance of winning a million dollars?
So has anyone seen the new Uncharted Realms? Apparently librarians are Dimir now...

I don't have skype, but by all means throw the million-dollar question out there and I'll take a swing at it...

Love it!
I can't help but feel it would be more fun if you were forbidden from using the card's name as a descriptor... Aside from pissing off one's opponent, there would be no reason to list any other characteristics. Not being allowed to simply name the required card would force the user to not only have a good working knowledge of the cards in their deck, but also to give a more detailed description of the required card to ensure they get the right one.
So, what does everyone think of being back in Ravnica? I'm stoked, although it bugs me that I haven't had the opportunity to actually try out any of the new cards. Loving what I've read of Rakdos so far. I tried mocking up a cheap BRG aggro deck, but goldfishing has proven a bit awkward so far. I think I've just been out of the game too long, I've lost my instinct for what would get a pass mark. :/
Hey, Castle! It's cool to see that you're back now too!
I'm kinda happy to be back in Ravnica. I've made a switch from Rakdos to Izzet as my play style has changed.
On the subject of the green, it's irritating but I can understand why we need it. I can deal with it until the problem is fixed.
I've been a fan of Golgari, but that just really carried over from Rav the first time. The other guilds I really enjoy are all coming out in Gatecrash so I have to wait till then.
I kinda wish the green was a darker color similar to all the other skins. But its not the worst option I suppose.
At 7:45 AM tomorrow, I will be 17. Another year closer to the rest of my life. I'm honestly not sure how I feel about this. On the one hand, it's cool to be closer to college and being an adult. On the other hand, I feel slightly panicked. I thought I'd be able to drive by now, that I would have a girlfriend by now. Hell, I thought I would have so much more of my life figured out right now.
I was 22 before I had a car or a boyfriend. Don't worry about it. Besides, I hear college is a great place to meet new people...
Yeah... I know it's not that big a deal.
I just kinda wished that I at least had SOME idea of what I wanted to do with my life. But if anything, I have LESS of an idea than I did when I was like, 14.

Unless you were bread into perfection and had your life decided for you, life is never as simple as "by this age, I should have done this much." Just relax and enjoy life instead of worrying about the future so much. Sure preparation is important, but it's not worth worrying all night over.
The forums! They are (for the most part) blue again!

Eh, true.
Getting off my angst, I have an interesting discussion topic for you guys.
So, the trailer for Dark Souls 2 is out, and on the Kotaku page, I saw this comment:
"Story discussion time:
This certainly seems like before Dark Souls. There are dragons. Perhaps this is during the Dragon Wars before the whole Souls thing?"
I thought "Dragon wars, sounds like Skyrim." and snickered. Then, I actually thought about it for a minute, and realized something.
A TON of books, movies, tv shows, and games that center around dragons, or at least have dragons in their lore, have those dragons either extinct, near extinct, or coming back from extinction. Skyrim, Dark Souls, Eragon, Game of Thrones, Dragonheart, Reign of Fire, The Hobbit, The Fire Within series, etc, etc. Even in Magic. Dragons were hunted almost to extinction on Ravnica, same with Sarkhan Vol's home plane. Dragons are rare on Innistrad, and presumably rare or nonexistant (besides dragon spirits) on Kamigawa. Nicol Bolas is the last of the Elder Dragons.
From what I understand, Guild Wars 2 also focuses on the dragons returning. Dragon Age, not quite so much, but Full grown high dragons are rare, and the Archdemon IS a dragon that IS returning, as well as a type of dragon
Interesting topic that I thought we should discuss.
We're somehow a special race, although i would rather not so much light shown upon us as has, whatever. at least they stick to the mythos for the most part.
As for birthday wishes. Happy Eviction Day. And what seth said, dont stress ****. especially the little ****. If you stress at such a young age you will not live as long as those who dont stress.
As for having a girlfriend, besides Kacey, whom only few of you know about, who was my first gf @ 16. I've not really dated since, so Miriah is #2 in the gf department. I also had no idea what i wanted to do with my life up through the age of 26. (i'm 27 now) and i still wont be able to achieve that goal for another 3-5 years.

The girlfriend thing was much more important to me back then, not now. Now I honestly just don't give a ****.
My theory is that dragons represent our subconscious need for something magical or seemingly implausible. This isn't god or the afterlife, or anything like that, and also, it doesn't matter if we believe they exist today. In fact, it's more believable to say that they don't. No, what matters is that they existed AT ONE TIME. A lot of the time, when you hear the topic of if dragons ever existed, it's usually not "do they exist now?" but rather "Did they exist?" and it is this desire for something seemingly out of this world to us to have once been a part of this planet that influences how we portray them in modern culture. It's also the reason why people have a fascination with dinosaurs.
I was 22 before I had a car or a boyfriend. Don't worry about it. Besides, I hear college is a great place to meet new people...
It is actually. It's how I made most of my offline friends, mostly because I had a lot of things in common with them, while in High School I had nothing in common.

And I'm 17! If I lived in the Wizarding World, I would be an adult.
One more year in the real world and you're an adult (Legally anyway). And then three years after that you're an adult again (21, able to buy Alcohol and handguns)! And then a mere two years after that you finally become a full fledged adult (able to rent a car)! Isn't life just easy?

Yup. Not only will I be able to vote in the next election, but at the Inauguration of the next President, I will be able to celebrate (or drown my sorrows) with an alcoholic beverage of my choice!
Been playing Far Cry 3 mostly. Seth, I would recommend it to you, if you haven't gotten it already, as we seem to both share a like for crazy wildlife. I've just randomly stumbled upon packs of ravenous Komodo Dragons (I don't think they really hunt in packs, but ohwell, it makes them even cooler) take down truckfulls of pirates.
This is an island where both Tigers and Leopards exist in fairly numerous quantities, and, it have the meanest bird ever, the Cassowary!
And the story isn't half bad. There's like, a crazy guy and stuff. And vehicles are fun. As are fires and explosions. But mostly, ANIMALS!
I never tried the Far Cry series, mostly because I rarely hear about it. Also putting the tagline of "IT'S LIKE SKYRIM WITH GUNS!" just made me even more uninterested in getting it. I've learned I'm not an FPS man, unless it involves mowing down zombies with a shot gun...which is always fun.

Except it's not like Skyrim with guns. Not at all. More actioney, with a strong focus on vehicles. I'm honestly not sure what it's like, but it's awesome.
You can mow down pirates with a shotgun, or Leopards, or Komodo Dragons.
Seth: From what I've heard, Far Cry 2 wasn't great because they changed the setting from tropical island, and they tried to put too much emphasis on realism. Far Cry 3 fixes both of these. Guns no longer jam (which I hear they did) you can tag people with the camera or while zoomed in on sights, to see where they are going. You can crash gliders into pirates, wrestle crocodiles, etc, etc.
Actually, the crocodiles would have to be the biggest letdown for me. They just kind of sit there on the edge of the water, they never really move, or swim around. But that's kind of like crocodiles anyway, so ohwell. Everything else is pretty dynamic.

The realism wasn't bad, the gun jamming was. Setting a whole set of plains on fire was a fun part of the realism. But yeah, I think it was the way hyper realism that really made it unfun. Sometimes realism can be fun, but too much ruins it. FC2 was over that hump of unfun realism.
<Anyhow, torrenting FC3 as we speak. Probably be done in the next day or so.>
