To quickly change the subject to something real nerdy....Or to finally say something I've always wanted to say "AND NOW FOR SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT!":
I've just got back into playing Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic on my computer. For those wondering I've gotten 3 out of the 5 star maps and I've done a good chunk of the side missions. I love the fact I'm wielding two light sabers with red crystals in them and yet I'm still part of the Light side. Also yes I have HK47 and he is a permanent member of my party, with Ballista as my other permanent member. HK has the best lines and is exactly the kind of robot I want to travel around with me.
Before anyone asks yes Ballista is my love interest and no I'm not planning on turning to the dark side however I have done "Dark Side" things every now and then...and I've taken more of the dark side powers because I like shooting lighting from my hands, draining the essence of an opponent so that I don't have to down 30 med packs, choke my opponents, and just out right kill them for the sake of simplicity. Yes Ballista also knows some of these techniques, why would you ask?
And HK comes back in the Old Republic MMO. Its actually been confirmed that we FINALLY get to learn what happened to Revan and that WHOLE ****ING ORDEAL with him running off into deep space and what he found. I can't wait to play out that mission...
Do you have evaporating abilities? Is there a wound that is going to putrify?
Oh, well, if you can count 'walking as evaporating then I guess so, and it's not a question of if my wounds WILL putrify, it's a question of who they will putrify next

@ Silence: Join us Silence. The Dark Side calls to you. Search your feelings. You know it to be true.
My problem with the Dark Side is that it's powers aren't exclusive. I can easily justify to a Jedi Counsel that Force Lightning can save more lives by subduing an enemy with enough volts so that they are knocked out. Same with Force Choke, I just need to cut off enough air so that they just pass out. Also theirs nothing saying you can't have sex in the Jedi Order, I don't know why nobody thinks of that, just don't get attached afterwards. However it wouldn't surprise me if I create some sort of separate sect of the Jedi Order, one that basically allows most of the good stuff but is only called out to handle the really dangerous problems. Able to use our own emotions but still being part of the Order's ideals.:p
Plus too many emo kids that are whining about some lover they lost. Heard this guy named Vader still whines about some chick named Padame and how he massacred a bunch of children.
That's why I never liked the Jedi Order. They put to much focus on the do's and don't and tack on the "ideals" as a bonus. I'd actually like to see a serious character who believes in the good of the jedi, but uses powers and techniques from both light and dark side... heh, so pretty much me...
And this is why I will probably never play the Star Wars series of video games...there doesn't seem to be much of a middle ground between "saintly do-gooder" and "insane baby-killing sociopath."
Also, can someone explain to me how shooting lightning from your hands is inherently evil?
Saw Harry Potter 7.2 over the weekend with some friends. I spent practically the entire movie nitpicking logical inconsistencies and trying to explain everything in MTG terms.

I enjoy Star Wars, but this has always puzzled me too. I've always chalked it up to "It's supposed to be a space epic where there is no grey area. Heros are heros and villians are villians." I agree though. I feel like the closest they got to a grey character was Lando Calrissian. I want evil Jedi and heroic Sith.
The only fundamental difference in ideology between Sith and Jedi is one is ruled by emotion and one is ruled by duty. Who's to say a Sith can't be driven by a pure-hearted emotion, or a Jedi that's driven by a sense of duty to "wipe out all evil in the galaxy" by say...brainwashing and/or killing anyone who's ever done anything bad ever.

From what I understand from the storylines of the comic series, apparently writers are actually looking to expand on the "middle ground" kind of jedi, with apparently a descendant of Luke Skywalker being able to tap into both Dark and Light powers through his emotions. Apparently later on they've changed a few things like falling in love is ok, having a family is ok, you just can't let their destruction drive you to the dark side in the end. It's more like "Look do what you want just try not to go too far or you'll actually become that which we fight against". It's why I always play middle ground characters, I never see the appeal of "I'M THE GOOD GUY EVIL WILL PERISH DESPITE WHAT THE REASONS ARE!" or "I'm evil and therefore I demand the blood of a newborn puppy, kitten, and a sea otter for breakfast. If I dont' get that I will blow up Canada." So apparently we aren't the only ones who question the Order's ideas and apparently good writers are willing to change things for a better story and all around better characters.
Also the force Lightning thing bugs me too. I guess because the whole "torture through lightning" thing is the major reason for it. Other than that even I kinda have to go "why?".

Oh, I completely got that... But, as a Phyrexian, I feel the urge to remind you at any opportunity I get, that I could indeed infect any and all of you = ) (My Army of Blight deck, btw, has gotten some improvements, I know a few of us on here were sharing our various infect decks awhile back, so if there's any interest, I can post the list.)
And with that pleasant thought... I fed my venus flytrap a Jumping Spider today. The plant overall seems pretty happy, being out in full sunlight (like they're actually supposed to be grown) has made the traps start to take on a lovely reddish hue that also helps make them more attractive to bugs...
Now hopefully I can get the money to purchase one or two Nepenthes (tropical pitcher plants) I've had a few in the past and I love them.
You raise a good point and I too wish there was a "neutral" style Jedi...
If they could do it like Dragon Age, that would be awesome. I always liked being the guy who did whatever he wanted, regardless of what people asked. Chaotic Neutral so to speak.

I'm sorry, but I have Protection from Phyrexian's. So no turning the King of Swords.
I've considered having Carnivorous Plants, but I opted for a poison garden instead.
I hope they leave the Dragon Age "series" alone for now on. They were better off just keeping it to one game, there was no point in making a sequel, especially with what they tried to pass off as a sequel. I feel like the first game counts more as a sequel than the second game does, sense Hawke's escapades were basically a "HOW WE SHOULD FIGHT THE BLIGHT!" tale of unity while in the first game your tale is the one that actually is supposed to be more of a "end all be all" tale of awesomeness. *shrugs*

Awwww, he thinks he's safe from us, how cute!
In all serioussness though, Carnivores are pretty awesome... and if you don't mind me asking (because I've never really been a plant person aside from Carnivores) what's a Poison Garden? It sounds interesting.
I don't go for Chaotic so much as Practical Neutral. Here are Jen's standard operating protocols for playing RPGs:
1. If an NPC has a quest for you, take it.
2. If an NPC is neutral or helpful to you, keep him* alive. He may potentially be useful in the future.
3. If an NPC wishes to join you in your quest, keep him in your party for as long as he can prove himself useful.
4. If an NPC attempts to attack, steal from, or otherwise harm you, kill him.
4.a. The exception is if 3) occurs. Then recruit him, because Jen is a bloody completionist and wants to be friends with everybody.
5. Love, romance, and sex are the Devil so stay the bloody hell away from them.

Protocols 1-4a are followed but almost every rpger.
Protocol 5 though? Come on Jen, one of the fun points of an rpg is to have your character fall in love with another character that you feel personally interested. You don't have to imagine the sexual intercourse, although there is plenty of fanfiction that will unfortunately give more than enough details on what happens then.
Besides it makes you more immersed in the story line if you create some sort of relationship with your characters.
Nothing has unlimited power, always remember that. Everything has a weakness.
In all serioussness though, Carnivores are pretty awesome... and if you don't mind me asking (because I've never really been a plant person aside from Carnivores) what's a Poison Garden? It sounds interesting.
A poison garden is exactly as it sounds, it contains various herbs and roots, that when concentrated, are poisonous.

I wear an 8 pointed star around my neck, I'm a Discordian, Chaotic Neutral is my way of life.
My way of RPG is:
1.) My "friends" or "travel companions" are only as good as the skills they bring to the table. They are tools to aide me when I have need. Pawns if you will.
2.) If I am offered a quest, a job, or anything of that nature, I can choose to take it or reject it for whatever reason I choose.
3.) 90% of the time, I'm going to start fights, because I love experience, the thrill of battle, and chaos.
4.) I search the bodies, in secret, and keep as many spoils of war for myself.
5.) Never underestimate an enemy, and never underestimate a party member.
6.) If you hinder me from advancing, I will kill you, and I expect you to do the same to me if I hinder you.
Nothing has unlimited power, always remember that. Everything has a weakness.

Hehe, and that includes you my friend, that includes you...
Anyway, cool! Although I think I'll stick with carnivores.
And finally, Anubis's RPG goes like this:
1.) Companions are optional, if they start mouthing off, kill or fire them, if you need companions, find new ones.
2.) Any NPC that is not important is disposable, and can and should be killed if possible, for either loot, or simply "teh lulz"
3.) Don't care about good or evil, take the best options in each situation.
4.) Cause as much awesome destruction as possible, even if it means going out of your way to do so.
5.) If you really really want to do something that will be horrible for your game, save the game before doing this (for example, mouthing off to someone important, or making a giant distraction to alert guards, etc)
And finally:
6.) If the coolest looking monster in the game isn't tameable or ridable, ask yourself what you're doing playing the game...
Anyone else here playing Winter Voices? Just curious as I'm about to get the episodes as soon as the main game tells me whatever I need to know apparently. I'm surious to see where this whole story will go in the end.
1) My companions are my friends until they do something to piss me off. (I choose to off Ashley Williams in Mass Effect because she's a xenophobic *******.)
2) I try to save all the NPC's. I took paragon for my first play-through of Mass Effect 1 and 2. I pistol whip Dr. Archer. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.
3) I take good options. That said, **** DA POLICE! (and fantasy equivalent) I never side with the Templars.
4) Cause fun mayhem, avoid killing innocent bystanders.
You see everytime I play an RPG, my mind starts an anime style opening in my head. Dragon Age, Oblivion, KotR...yeah anime openings for every single one.
