Tbh, I don't think Niv would ever choose a side. I honestly can't see him bothering to fight against Phyrexia and there's no way in hell he'll submit to them. The only way I can see him joining Phyrexia is if he were forcibly corrupted, and that doesn't seem very likely either.
He's one of the smartest beings in the multiverse, and it's pretty obvious that the smartest thing to do is stay out of anything involving Phyrexia.
From a narrative standpoint it just doesn't make any sense to me that the Phyrexians would lose. For about half of Magic's Existence they have been the main villain in the storyline and then they did what every good comic villain does. Disappears for a while but leaves hints of their return (As an aside, this, to me, is why Heroes failed. If they had let Sylar disappear for a season or 2 after season 1 that show would have blown peoples mind. That and the beginning of season 3.... that sucked.). And, we just got them back! Why set up the idea that the greatest villain of all time has returned and if the Mirrans fall the whole UNIVERSE is in danger and then say "Oop, nevermind, the Mirrans got it." I think that will be anti-climactic and unexciting, that's why I hope it's Phyrexia. Not because I like rooting for the bad guy, but because I think it will open the door to more interesting stories to have them win.
Well, S_C, I have actually been here since June 2009, haha. I've just been posting on standard forums instead.
@ Clem - You may or may not have noticed but the deck has approximately zero black in it. Which also means zero tez. When I said "like grixis but with all the good cards taken out" I meant "all the black taken out"
Reading is pretty difficult some times. I think its safe to assume that I didn't notice. I kind of assumed he was in there some where due to the insane amounts of artifacts and Inkmoth Nexus.
I decided to play the Grixis Tezz deck at DC. Was doing ok until the last two rounds when I lost to 2 Valakut decks in a row making my record 6-4. Probably shouldn't of played a deck that just loses to Valakut in this format.
Got into an accident on the way back to Ky. It was pouring and our car hydroplaned. The driver and I were both fine but his car is pretty ☺☺☺☺ed up from grinding into the concrete median on one side. Then I went into work 3 hours late and stayed an hour overtime.
Played a tournament, almost died, didn't sleep. Standard weekend for me.

Glad you're OK.
I haven't really been following standard much lately, but I find it hilarious that Valakut is a legitimate deck. It just seems so cheesy lol

Not to mention them corrupting Karn... one of the old Planeswalkers ending up with no soul or conscience and serving phyrexia? Bad.

You can thank the design team in M11 for deciding to not put a "basic land" clause on Primeval Titan and the development team consequently for approving it.

Yeah, that is the main reason as to why Primeval Titan is so good.
I wouldn't say that all the Titans are "too good." But yes, Primeval Titan, and probably Grave Titan are on the "too good" side of things. At least compared to what we've seen previously in Magic history.

I was actually just thinking about building a cube of my own, cube drafts are always fun and it'd be nice to have one of my own.
Don't be afraid to start. It's better to throw together something very improvised and just have a foothold in the cubing arena. Learning what works and what doesn't is really half the fun. Many times I have had a blast having my ass handed to me with a card I knew would be good but other people doubted. Yes, I lost, but I made a point.

Then again, given the promise of a modicum of independence, Niv wouldn't be opposed to a mechanized calculating amoral order. But that independence is the crucial part... which probably wouldnt come in a Borg-like world order like Phyrexia.

I don't see how the Mirrans win and it's still interesting. Even a cool major twist would be not enough to keep it from tanking to a "goodguysalwayswinlol."
QED the Mirrans lose. This game is about fun and generating interest.

I think power creep is at its most obviously high level ever. This is clearer with the cube, where a disproportionately large amount of new cards are supplanting old staples. The cube is a good evaluator of raw power as it takes elements of constructed and limited and makes the cards compete at a very high level. And those results say that in no uncertain terms that the most powerful cards are getting more powerful in recent sets.

For some reason it's not sending me email updates anymore, which is quite annoying. I'll see if I can fix that.
In the meantime, I've been playing butt-tons of EDH with my Karn deck, which is progressing quite nicely. I picked up FTV: Relics just for it, and anything I'm not running is such great trade fodder that I've already made my money back. I'm working on foiling out the deck now, and it's going to be a pretty tough challenge, considering I'm running Top, Crucible of Worlds, and Darksteel Forge and Lattice. Not to mention Ensnaring Bridge, Strip Mine, and other awesome lands. I have a decklist in my blog containing an old decklist that I'm gonna update ASAP, but it may not happen in the immediate future just because I have classes to attend -_-".

I went to game day as well and to be honest with my lack of type two playing lately I didn't know what to expect meta wise and it bit me in the ass. I just got rolled with bad plays and tricks I wasn't expecting. In my area the control meta disappeared and aggro took over something bad. If you weren't playing black blue tezz then you had to turn your creatures sideways fast than you opponent.

I remember being so pissed that I opened like five or six valakut in a box thinking it was the typical crap rare I get stuck with plenty of.
Shows that after all this time I still can't evaluate cards at a glance.

On the subject, does anybody have Voltaic Constructs, Myr Retrievers and Ensnaring Bridge (Stronghold or Foil 7th) for trade? I'm totally willing to overtrade for it...
